Ric Flair Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 And Hayles. It's ridiculous. "Okay, that's three strikers signed but it's still alright as long as we sign some midfielders" - I'm sick of all this. What's the point? Perhaps Pericard has written down on his little piece of card that he can play on the left wing if needed and that's tickled Holloway's fish.
Babylon Posted 4 January 2008 Author Posted 4 January 2008 Stoke haven't released him though have they? So why would we have him in on trial, when Holloway has worked with him before at Plymouth IIRC? If he's had a medical, it probably means he's fookin agreed terms and all sorts. This is bad. Olympiacos haven't released the winger we had on trial either... but he was still here and contracted to them. Maybe Stoke are looking to get rid? I think Pericard was at Plymouth with Pullis as he took him to stoke when he went there.

Yeah I know about the Hungarian bloke, but we'd never seen him in action before so it made sense that Holloway and Penfold had a look at him. But Pericard has been stinking English football out for a few seasons now and any manager worth their salt wouldn't need to get the lad in for a show pony to prove it. I think if he's been in and about this club in the past day or so then he's signing.

We had Lisbie on trial... and he's about as cack. Although he has probably scored more than any of our strikers this year. I'm trying to stay positive by thinking he's on trial... the thought of a permanent move makes me sick. Maybe we are really struggling to get people in... hence Holloways rant yesterday.

He hasn't played much football though, a "trial" would make sense fitness-wise as part of an extensive medical. Whatever's happening with him, I'm sick of coming on here and reading about strikers. It's mental.
Babylon Posted 4 January 2008 Author Posted 4 January 2008 A suitable anagramVerdict Crap Nine! Well we have 9 crap strikers so it makes sense.
scottybbmf Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 he must have some midfielders to annouce soon. he has been banging on about balance when is it going to come??
Ric Flair Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 I think i'd actually rather have Danny Cadamarteri back than Pericard.
Dr_Fox Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 I was saying before the transfer window that I was worried about Holloway signing players for the sake of signing players because he's never had so much money This kind of speculation does nothing to appease these thoughts...I sincerely hope he doesn't sign for us as he is no better than the strikers we already have....our strikers are not the problem and I would have hoped Holloway could realise this after six weeks; obviously not!
davieG Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 Looks like it's Happening!!! From the Merc Leicester City manager Ian Holloway today revealed that he may sign a third striker during this month's transfer window. Holloway landed Derby's Steve Howard and Barry Hayles from his old club Plymouth on Monday, and both are expected to start tomorrow's FA Cup match against Southampton. But Holloway, who admits he is prepared to do some “ducking and divingâ€, says he could yet bring in another attacker. “I am keen on a lot of players,†he said. “I have got a big scouting network and I am trying to do a lot of things, but I can't tell you what they are. “I have got two strikers in, I might have another one in time. I need options in wide areas - I think I have got a choice of three new ones, maybe more - and central midfield, and possibly a defender.†Holloway is relishing his role as manager of a buying club rather than a selling one as he bids to create a squad which will eventually have his indelible mark on it. So is this a pleasant difference from his previous managerial tribulations? He said: “Yes, exactly. I might want to swap some around because I have got so many players, and if I need to duck and dive, then I will do. “Let's face it, they have not pulled up a lot of trees to impress me so far have they? “I am getting the work ethic now. Even at QPR when they were 3-0 down they never gave up, never stopped running and could have got back in the game, but it is all about balance, ask any manager. “Milan Mandaric has not been here long, I have been here even less and I am having to sift through things that have already happened. “I will take that on the chin and I want the next 20 games to be a lot different, because they need to be.†Holloway ran the rule over three foreign trialists last week and he said: “They impressed me and I might do something, but it is all up in the air at the moment, like a man who trips carrying a jigsaw puzzle - when it lands, I will know what pieces I have got and what work I have to do.â€

But Hume has 5 goals in 8 games, so you'd have to think it would be harsh for Holloway to think Mr Pericard would be a better option than Hume, whose not been playing up front every game either. Fryatt's not been as good, but his goal scoring prowess compared to Pericards is ludicrously prolific, which is saying something. That article doesn't mention a goal keeper, which I hope is just a mis-print as we're screwed if we stick with Henderson. We don't even have any back-up. Neilson and Douglas are going and Logan is on loan for the season. It's scary how much of a mess this club is in.

Technically a really good player but if he is sacrificed for a big hairy arsed bruiser like howard or hayles who starts imposing themselves and having more of an effect then that is fine by me.same goes for hume. He has scored one or 2 recently but he misfires oftern playing poorly then having a run of goals before not scoring for a long time. To be frank, his play often annoys me due to his constant use of drag backs when he should exploit his pace and run at defenders which he seldom does unlike when he first signed I seem to remember. He looked exciting then but now looks frustrated. Thanks to the team but he doesn’t help himself either if he didn’t chase lost causes and wave his fists around as much id say more people might feel differently about him. A good player but certainly not a guaranteed 1st choice in my eyes especially if the new boys do well
