isaidno Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Was born in Tonga, has played Rugby League for New Zealand but is in the England 6 nations squad.
Bert Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 It's only Rugby. It's weird, how they do their international rules. I think if you play for a nation, then stop, for x amount of years, you can play for another country or something. If he'd not played for another national team, then i think it's fine, but i'm sure he's played for Tonga as well. I'm probably wrong though.
lildave3 Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 It's controversial but as long as he does well I don't care.
AyewJoking Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I think he should get a st george's cross tattooed on his forehead to prove his patriotism.
Staf Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I cant see how that works but oh well Manuel Almunia can play for England soon
Lord Nibblington Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Probably not. But I imagine he'll do well for England..
Webbo Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I cant see how that works but oh well Manuel Almunia can play for England soon I don't care enough about rugby to be bothered, but I really hope The football team don't go down that route.
Fox You Forest Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Was born in Tonga, has played Rugby League for New Zealand but is in the England 6 nations squad. Cricket's by far the worst Did you see the Canada squad in the world cup there were only 3 Canadians in it.
Ultra Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I don't care enough about rugby to be bothered, but I really hope The football team don't go down that route. Owen Hargreaves? I think you'll find they already have..
Durnerz Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 He can do 100 metres in 10.5 seconds. We'll take him
Webbo Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Owen Hargreaves?I think you'll find they already have.. He qualifies because of his parentage. This rugby player qualifies because he's lived here 5 years, not the same at all.
Nick Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 He qualifies because of his parentage. This rugby player qualifies because he's lived here 5 years, not the same at all. Greg Rudetski Owen Hargreeves Lennox Lewis Alumina Daley Thompson England is such a bastardized nation I'm not sure I'm bothered if people qualify on grounds of residency or parentage.
DB11 Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Of course he should because he is good and he's playing for us
Webbo Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Greg Rudetski-His mother was English.Owen Hargreeves- His dad I think. Lennox Lewis-Was born here. Alumina-No connection at all. Daley Thompson-Didn't know about him. England is such a bastardized nation I'm not sure I'm bothered if people qualify on grounds of residency or parentage. The thing is if we allow this sort of thing what's the point of national teams?Hypothetically Saudi Arabia could sign up all the best young players in the world and in 5 years they'd be world champions.
Steven Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Greg RudetskiOwen Hargreeves Lennox Lewis Alumina Daley Thompson England is such a bastardized nation I'm not sure I'm bothered if people qualify on grounds of residency or parentage. I think Daley Thompson's mother is Scottish/British.
Jay Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 John Barnes wasn't born in England only moved hear as a small boy and not only went on to play for England at football but rapped for them with new order as well
placidcasual Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 John Barnes wasn't born in England only moved hear as a small boy and not only went on to play for England at football but rapped for them with new order as well Terry Butcher was not born in England either.
Sparky Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Get him in , were not beaking rules just going along with them
Ultra Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Greg RudetskiOwen Hargreeves Lennox Lewis Alumina Daley Thompson England is such a bastardized nation I'm not sure I'm bothered if people qualify on grounds of residency or parentage. Daley Thompson was born in Worcester Park, which I'm pretty sure is in Surrey.
Ultra Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 He qualifies because of his parentage. This rugby player qualifies because he's lived here 5 years, not the same at all. ..and has paid taxes during that time.
Webbo Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 ..and has paid taxes during that time. Whats that got to do with anything,I never suggested he should be deported? Typical lefty response, as soon as you run out of arguments you play the race card. Grow up.
Floating Fox Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Whats that got to do with anything,I never suggested he should be deported?Typical lefty response, as soon as you run out of arguments you play the race card. Grow up. Agree with what your saying. No he shouldn't be aloud to play, parentage is ok with me but just because you have lived here doesn't mean you can play for us.
Ultra Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Whats that got to do with anything,I never suggested he should be deported?Typical lefty response, as soon as you run out of arguments you play the race card. Grow up. YOU are the one who's playing the race card, saying a white sportsman who had NEVER lived in England should be able to play for us, while a non-white person who does live here should not. That's straying close to BNP territory. Back off.
