Maybes Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 I would be happy with a 1-0 to be honest. I dont think going to Norwich and turning them over will happen realistically. There is much expectation after a one off wonder perforamnce against cov...and rightly so.i will be fooked off if we go there and loose 1-0 or draw 0-0, it will feel as though we have gone back to square one Why? A draw away from home against a team that have been doing well in the league of late (even though they lost to bury).
Thracian Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Why? A draw away from home against a team that have been doing well in the league of late (even though they lost to bury). Because we've had enough draws for one season. And we had enough draws last season. Imagine the statement a win would make. It would say we're prepared to take on anyone, home or away and back ourselves to beat em. It's an attitude thing. I've just joined a golf club and learned that their team became the first Leicestershire side to become champion club of England. I checked some scores and found the top team player, Gary Wolstenholme, set a course record 65 to win this year's club championship. So that's the target. Not scoring level par or settling for something inconsequential. No-one is anything unless they can beat that bloke. Sodding draws. What do you think has kept us in the doldrums so long? What the hell is wrong with winning?

After watching city win a game people seem to think we can roll teams over and that we are world beaters. I hope the win against Cov wasn't another false dawn and that we follow it up with a win against Norwich. No-one is anything unless they can beat that bloke. In football terms or in general life? Not quite sure how to read into that comment.

Oh in golf terms. Nothing whatsoever to do with general life. You are also misunderstanding me. I don't for one second say we can "roll teams over". What do I know about Norwich or what their manager and players are planning? I am talking about OUR attitude. I am talking about us taking attitudes for ourself. I am saying let's go to Norwich and set about em. Let's not turn up there like some apologists with the notion of "getting something", in other words being happy with a draw. Let's plan and focus 100% to winning.
Simi Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Looking forward to this game. Norwich have some half decent support and always sell out so could be something in the game. I'd be happy with a point from this myself, it's all about building on what we achieved last week, very important I think. Winning one game then losing the next will get us nowhere in the long run.

Thracian Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Kilworth Springs. Heard its nice haven't played there yet though. Glorious course and open whatever the weather. Anytime you want a midweek game PM me.

Lillehamring Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 I am feeling positive.I am looking forward to feeling the buzz of anticipation I first felt with my late grandfather 50 years ago when he walked me over the railway bridge on Upperton Road towards the glittering footballing cathedral that was Filbert Street. It is that anticipation that has been missing these four years - that sense that you were going to see something special. Now I feel the lights are shining again. Positive isn't the half. I'm bloody thrilled about it. :scarf: :w00t:
STUHILL Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I'm not going to get too carried away. i don't think we have overnight become the Man U of the Championship, but I do feel we have two great Centre midfields now, Clemence will start to show his class with Oakley along side him. Howard and Hume are a perfect combo upfront. The wide men were outstanding and if they can do anything like they did against Cov, then I expect nothing less than a win. Defence for me should still have Chambers in, but hard to kick Stearman out after his improvements. With Weso and Osbourne as solid midfielders too and Hayles coming off the bench, we are looking a much more solid 16 players. Would love a another tricky winger on the bench incase we need goals, but Sheehan from setplays will always cause problems and do for now! Very optimistic but also cautious! Another performance like Cov and ppl will be swarming back to the Walkers!!!

What the hell is wrong with winning? Wolstenholme is probably the best amatuer golfer never to turn pro. You've got to question why he's never turned pro though. Perhaps he's not got the ambition? In which case your analogy for Leicester to take a leaf out of the Wolsten's book might be a little pissy. Good golf course you've joined by the way. Had some good knocks round there in my time. Although, nothing to trouble Gary's record. Did shoot a 74 there for the county once.
crisp monster Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 i'm going to this one with my mate and our two lads. his family are mad Norwich fans and ours are Leicester and we grew up across the street from each other ( in Bedford) and our dads always took us for a day out when they played at Filbo still remember the stick we gave them the day of the Keith Weller in tights game anyway, i'll be in the Norwich end with my 8 year old so NO bad language and NO dirty song' s in the away end please just a loud roar when we get the winner in time added on

I'm not sure I would bet against Gary turning pro and going on the Seniors circuit but he's certainly as good as you describe. And extraordinarily consistent. That said, Kilworth, although an interesting and attractive course, is pretty forgiving, certainly compared to Stapleford Park where I played in the Autumn. But whether that means anything even close to 65 is possible remains to be seen, especially if it carries on raining all the time! The much more modest challenge for now has been set by my youngest son who's wagered £10 that I can't shoot par by May 1. He caught me with that as a ploy to make sure I stuck to my fitness programme. Crafty sod.

A testing track is Atherstone where some very good golfers have been produced from there such as Stevie Webster and Paul Broadhurst. I was once 2 under par gross after 15 holes around there when I was playing off 10 and I then took a 12 on one of the final holes. I wasn't amused.

When did you ever see such a little fellow hit a ball so hard! Are you still playing county stuff?
Ric Flair Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Steve Webster? When did you ever see such a little fellow hit a ball so hard! Are you still playing county stuff? No mate, only played for them when I was 15-17. Hardly get to play golf anymore and when I do it only makes me annoyed as I can't afford to play more often. It's something I must find the time and money to get back in to, love it. I've golf played with Webster a couple of times, he's phenomenal.
Thracian Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Alfreton and Atherstone, can never remember which one is which. You wouldn't want to go to the one by mistake and have to backtrack!
