Ha. Luigi Glombard. He's probably a green bin man in the rotten areas in Cardiff.

Glombard...pap. At least Horsfield scored a few (remember him putting Cov to the sword) and Yeates was just about decent... Glombard has to go down as the pointless signing ever......surely, any other candidates????!!!

Even the difference between the midfield for the Southampton game 10 days ago and the Coventry game the following Saturday was staggering.

Started Southampton game;

Hume Kenton Wesolowski Hayles

Ended Southampton game;

Sheehan King Wesolowski Stearman

Started Coventry game;

Laczko Oakley Clemence Bori

Touch wood we look like we are finally going the right way. Why people would criticize Ollie without letting the bloke bring his own players in beggars belief but anyway, some people just don't change.

I think the players we added last year on loan compared to this pre-season is a huge pat on the back for yet another part of this club that gets unfair criticism, Mr Milan Mandaric!! I personally knew he would put some money in but not this much. Lets hope he backs Ollie to land a few more players and continues to pay off more mediocre players like Newton and Cort and get them of the payroll (like MDV, Douglas). All in all, its happy times again!

I don't agree with that. Holloway deserved criticism until the Coventry game because we were appalling in many games, particularly away from home. Megson never got the same protection.

It's not a case of having wanted him out, it's just that he needed to know we weren't going to settle for performances like that. As it turns out, he appears to have signed four or five top quality players but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

You could tell from the noises he was making from the get-go, by criticizing players and saying he wanted new strikers etc that he had planned all along to bring his won team. He did the best from what he had but being realistic, he took over a squad that was not in form and had a real unbalanced look to it and we all could see it from watching the disjointed garbage what was needed and he now has been able to add wingers and a system that works.

Before we all get too excited after one game though he still has plenty of work to do and plenty to prove but for the first time in a while, I am actually confident that we have got the type of manager and character needed to manage our at times mad club.

"We have been after Geoff for a while but have not had the finances to do the deal.

We didnt have the cash to sign, Geoff Horsefield... I'll say that again, Geoff Horsefield on loan!

Reminds you how bad things really were, and despite all the debacles this season how things have turned around since then.

Aye. I still think people are too harsh on Kelly at times. It wasn't pretty towards the end but he kept us up two seasons on the trot with a pretty poor squad.

I wonder if Rob Kelly is still 'closely monitoring' Glombard's progress?

The closeness with which he is monitoring Glombard's progress is directly proportional to the intensity with which Preston's training increases each week (with the goal being doubling, obviously).

One win is far from enough to get our chairman off the hook. Most of the stick he's taken has been no more than he deserved.

During his time here, he's appointed several failed managers, overseen (sometimes personally) some of the worst signings in the club's history (Newton and Cort included), and branded large sections of the club's away support (by definition, the most loyal section of the fanbase) as "poison" and in need of physical chastisement. In addition, he promised a challenge for the top six this season, yet in reality we are in yet another relegation battle.

In recent weeks Mandaric has kept a profile lower than a snake's nether regions, yet as soon as the bandwagon starts to roll again, he wastes no time in jumping back on it.

He still has a lot to do before trust in him can be restored.

If he had stayed on after the horror show against Plymouth he would've most certainly sent us down.
