5live crawling up Newcastle's arse

Last night's FA Cup commentary was painful, it was as if Stoke weren't even playing a football match.

And now tonight is bloody NUFC night again!

I'm growing to really dislike the damn club - and the radio station.

I wouldn't bother turning on Sky Sports News either then.

I find it hilarious how some people praised Keegan for last nights win.

Could be worse, you could have to listen to a John barber commentary.

Not only that, I'm also sick of seeing/hearing about Alan ****ing Shearer everywhere. A decent footaballer in his time who was allowed to use bullyboy tactics and harass whoever he wanted (Neil Lennon anybody? ) and also shit pundit who nine out of ten talks out of his arse. I will never forget after the World Cup incident with Rooney and Ronaldo where this **** just sat there bad mouthing Ronaldo as if he was at fault for us not going through.

i thought the same and i think it'll continue for a while

must admit i'm gettin a little pissed off with everyone going on about how great newcastle fans are and how big a club they are. just because the fans wear no shirts and haven't won anything for ages. great. and if the fans are so great there wouldnt have been 20k spare seats going last night 3 hours before K.O

Agreed.

Shearer was an excellent goalscorer - but has yet to grasp the concept of "team play" though. He's the football equivalent of Geoff Boycott (except with slightly less wit).

Despite all the hype of recent days, the geordies still have some way to go before displacing Liverpool as the beeb's most favoured club.

An excellent comparison Ultra.

Shearer is constantly touted for this manager's job and that yet he's had no experience as a manager, there's no saying he would be a good manager and I cannot understand how he'd ever get on a shortlist for a top job.

If he wants to manage he should go and get some experience. And if I were Keegan I don't think I'd want him as assistant either.

Keegan meanwhile will have massive impact media wise and is exactly the sort of person I'd have loved here and for exactly that reason.

Not that I'm complaining. MM and Holloway are showing some ambition and even seem to be offering the promise that we might do things in style eventually.

"Keep your friends close but your enemies closer." ;)

or

"It's probably better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in."

Still not absolutely convinced by Holloway but from the word go at least I have thought his mindset is right. ;)

Don't get me started on the Geordies (and North East clubs in general ie Sunderland & Boro) the Clucking Bankers. All 3 teams had shit support for years until they got back into the Premier League but claim to be the best supporters in the world when all they do is boo when the team is struggling. In the 80's all probably averaged less than 10k for home games but now eveyone in the region are passionate, understand what football means to the region blah blah blah blah. And as for playing the Newcastle way and everyones second favourite team - what a load of Bollocks. The 3 teams who have to play a certain way (Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs) have won sod all in the last 20 years !!!

I so hope Keegan fails and takes the TUNELESS ARMY nowhere near Champions League Football.

Anyway can somebody pass me a ladder to get me down from this very high horse !!!

Didn't Spurs win a League Cup? I vaguely remember them winning a final with a last-minute goal. Can't remember who against though..

Or perhaps you meant Manchester "massive club" City..

Had tried to wipe that Spurs win from my memory !!! Spurs still think they should be winning Premier Leagues, FA Cups, UEFA Cups, Intertoto's and Anglo Italian Cups in style tho !!!

It annoys me how Newcastle have made up this glorious history and image, that they are a footballing giant on a par with Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal. Fact is they're not, never have been and probably never will be. Like yourself, I remember the small crowds Newcastle used to get. Now their chairman is talking about returning the club to the top four. Their club is built on myths and lies.

Am also getting to hate the geordie fans and there club with a vengeance

All i keep hearing is that they somehow seem to be disalousioned into thinking they are a massive club that should be winning things

Fact of the matter is they have won fook all really, and dont really deserve to win anything, anymore than any other supporter and there team.

Keegan says the fans need to be entertained, and as long as the players do that, win lose or draw, and that they show they have tried there best, then the fans will go home happy.

WELL CONGRATULATIONS KEEGAN,.......You have just described what every fan wants for there team...yes that right, there are other fanatical supporters out there, not just the geordies, who seem to be stuck in a time warp, noteably in the year you Nearly won the league

Your a middle of the run premier league side, and i hope that Megson's lot turn you over tomorrow

And as for that cheating dirty scum shearer....(Yes,i was there when you kicked lennon in the head),You havent won fook all either

Their lowest attendance average for a season is a shade over 16,000 in 1980/81 and 1990/91, both seasons which involved a struggle in Division Two, the rest of the 80s they averaged about 24,000 with a high of just under 30,000 in their promotion year, 83/84 - the only First Division sides that had bigger crowds that year were Liverpool and Manchester United. A total of three seasons with averages under 20,000 since WW2. Like it or not, their crowds have always been large relative to all the teams except for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, who have far more going for them in terms of success.

'80s crowds were rubbish for everyone, not just them - Manchester United were the only team to average more than 40,000 - most of the statistics are barely half the past decade's - so I don't see why you single them out for it when you could just as easily have a pop and Liverpool or whoever.

Also, our crowd average in 03/04 was three times the size of most of the '80s statistics, so glass houses and all that.

And as for that cheating dirty scum shearer....(Yes,i was there when you kicked lennon in the head),You havent won fook all either

Premiership with Blackburn?

I agree with you both that its been blown out of all proportion and even the Newcastle fan I know thinks the amount of coverage is a little excessive. Bit harsh to blame the fans for the media going crazy, although its a pleasant suprise for it to be about a side that isn't one of the Big 4 or in London.

I agree the exposure that all the news channels are giving this story is a little bit over the top, I dont remember Grant getting this coverage when he took over at Chelsea .... a bigger club.

I am amused that the Geordies base their choice of manager that he has to be a Geordie as he will understand us. It kinda limits the choice of candidates, I wonder how it fits with the discimination laws also!! If England can see the bigger picture and go for a non english manager I dont see why they can support a non geordie manager too. In all of this I feel sorry for Big Sam, in my books a good manager who was not given the slightest chance by the fans and they drove him out of the club, I just hope he got a really good payoff.

So they have a manager who has not seen a game for three years and wants to appoint Shearer who has no coaching badges, not the sort of experience I would be looking for if I was chairman.

All that aside I do like Keegans style of football, attack all the way and flair football. If you can win 4-3 great you have won.

He was playing for newcastle at the time

It was the time when he threatened to walk out on england if he was punished by the FA

dear oh dear he kicked the ball, how many times....

remember the FA had another angle which nobody else had access to that clearly showed that it was infact Neil Lennon who was guilty of head butting Shearers boot when he himself clearly made contact with the ball :S

Shearers an ar5e if I was Keegan I wouldn't wanting this backstabbing, bully boy constantly undermining him which is what he will end up doing

Yeah, I know, I was pointing out the "hasn't won fook all" was only true because of a double-negative ;)
