Simi Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Dave, Fez and Bert - Write letters to the club then, I know some people already have, it will only help. I've said it for ages it's ridiculous. I didn't have that problem today but in the past I hate finding a seat at the back only for someone who wants to sit down all game saying he'd like me to get out of his seat. I heard one bloke yesterday come to the back and say "Right at the ****ing back". These people don't want to be there, when others do. Common sense anyone? As for the match, our lack of depth in our team really did show. First half we were pretty dreadful - But calls from fans to our left saying "Ollie Sort It Out", deserved a bit of a verbal lashing. Agree that Mattock was told to stay wide to cover the lack of pace our centre halves have, thought McAuley played well yesterday to be honest. Marking Dion Dublin is never easy whatever age he is. Zsolt never really managed to stay wide during the game which did shaft us a bit to be honest. Especially when we have Stevie Howard. You could tell he wasn't fit and that was a bit of a gamble from Ollie. Second half the balance of our team was well and truly lost and we reverted back to something that has never really succeeded for us. Hume wide right, Chambers at left back, it's just not good for our team. We really need to get in some decent cover because at the moment a couple of injuries and we're back to square one. Hayles played really well when he came on I thought, hassled well and if it wasn't for his lack of pace, he would of won us the match when he went through on goal.
SamL Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Meh.More annoyed with sitting in my proper seat tbh, wasn't fun. Yeah, that was ****ing shit. Bring back unreserved seating. If people want to sit down then they shouldn't have tickets at the back. It was awful. I had to sit in my proper seat aswell, really didn't enjoy the game at all. I was on row Q and it was a libary. Unreserved seating
Bellend Sebastian Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 I was on the back row and I didn't want to be there
The Shreds Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 It was awful. I had to sit in my proper seat aswell, really didn't enjoy the game at all. I was on row Q and it was a libary. Unreserved seating Were you sitting in about Q37 or somewhere around there?
Lillehamring Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Im not the biggest fan of either of our full backs, however that being said i definately thought that Stearman was MOTM yesterday. Recently his defending has been top notch just wish his distribution yesterday at times was better. As for Mattock getting so much stick, i feel its a little HARSH. He was left by with two players yesterday everytime, for some reason Laczko kept tucking inside leaving the wings totally open to exploit. Not sure whether this as tactical by Ollie or Laczko positional play not to hot buteither way it needs addressing because it caused us no end of problems. barber observed that when we did have the ball in the first half we only tried to play it up the centre (note: barber was getting quite wound up by a few things yesterday, i think he's converting).... maybe that's why ZL was drifting in, to get a bit of the ball...?
SamL Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 I was on the back row and I didn't want to be there Then write to the club with your views and ask for unreserved seating. It would make it easier for everyone in my opinion because some people don't want to be at the back but have no choice and others want to be but can't. Unreserved seating would be common sense. Were you sitting in about Q37 or somewhere around there? Yeah I was pal.
The Shreds Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Yeah I was pal. I remember you, I was sitting in the row down from you in P32, good voice! That kid next to you was giving it some high pitched welly too!
SamL Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 I remember you, I was sitting in the row down from you in P32, good voice! That kid next to you was giving it some high pitched welly too! Wahayy, I weren't half getting some funny looks for trying to make a bit of noise. That kid made me laugh with what he kept coming out with, with his random songs that he kept singing.

Before I looked round, I thought he was a girl! To be fair to him though - at least he was singing coz there werent many round our area were there? - loads of miserables telling you to sit down as soon as their arses hit the chair.

Yeah I know, every time I stood up some geezer behind me said he was going to see me outside or something I'd rather have been at the back, as would a lot of people but I got told to go and sit in my proper seat. The atmosphere wasn't that great in general yesterday apart from the Norwich fans.
Vo Rogue Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 barber observed that when we did have the ball in the first half we only tried to play it up the centre (note: barber was getting quite wound up by a few things yesterday, i think he's converting).... maybe that's why ZL was drifting in, to get a bit of the ball...? We had no choice because our long haired Hungarian was exactly in the middle of the pitch providing no width at all. Who were we supposed to pass it to out there? Also his fitness does not explain his lack of positional play. Other players were urging him to stay wider. Maybe they need Hungarian lessons.
lildave3 Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Dave, Fez and Bert - Write letters to the club then Well they can't change Carrow Road into unreserved seating can they? What would this do exactly?
Simi Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Well they can't change Carrow Road into unreserved seating can they? What would this do exactly? What makes certain clubs like Preston and the like make there away ends unreserved seating? Clubs have the choice to do this, it's more to get people to set an example. Especially if they don't let you choose where your tickets are.
lee7 Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 it would be a lot better if it was unreserved seating at least you would be able to sit where there is some atmosphere.
Staf Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Acutally very pleased with a point considering we were outplayed overall a rubbish day especially when the bus broke down on the way home and i ended getting home at 10:30
Pen 3 veteran Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Dear all long suffering fellow fans. This is my first post - I've been visiting as a guest for a long time but didn't feel I had seen the City enough to register as I've been in exile in the far east (North Suffolk) for a few years now, and so don't get to see the boys very often. Anyway, coming out the closet now from reading your emails and share deep feeling wih you all (Weyhey!) and would like to contribute if you'll have me- the wife will kill me if she finds out I'm secretly on about the beloved Leicester while shes on a 14 hour shift! Went to Norwich y'day with my eldest boy (life long City fan, born in the General but moved over here when he was 6 weeks old) in the City section and my impressions were:- 1. We were very very lucky to get the point. Really poor first half (very few attacks, only 1 real effort on goal) - second half played better in short spells but Norwich still had more clear cut chances and would have thrashed us if they had in form forwards. 2. We both thought Steve Howard looked class. Alright, can't remember he getting a sniff when facing goal, but his touch and lay offs were good throughout the game and don't think he wasted any passes. He chased down well for a big old boy (sorry bit of Suffolk). 3. Bazzer coming on seemed to lift the team a bit, and a few years back he would have scored the chance he earned himself chasing down the keeper but didn't have the legs/pace to get a stronger touch on the ball which a covering defender mopped up. 4. It was obvious N'wich would come out steaming ( stung by Bury defeat, still impressing new man Roeder, Dion against the City, crowd favourite Huckerby still dropped for 3rd game), so why didn't we stifle the midfield from the start, keep them away from our box, after 30 mins their crowd would be moaning (they've seen a lot of dross at home as well this season) and build from there. Instead, poor Mattock was always in no man's land, leaving huge gaps down our left side, right next to the Leicester fans, for their right side man Croft to have a storming first half -yeah he looked great getting the ball in acres of space, time to cross, confidence grew so he was taking us on, doing tricks etc. 5. Credit to you singers, but what about the rest of you miserable lot! Took full allocation, but volume only coming from the back. At least clap with the songs - you've come all this way on crap roads, your team is up against it, we've got a rich chairman (okay I know some of your views, but as has been said he wants to helps us), Olly is barmy, but at least show the Norwich crowd we've got spunk (steady). Believe me, the Norwich fans I have to listen to have been doom 'n gloom all the time fom the end of last season, and still are now, with no money, Delia losing interest, Dion retires end of season, Huckerby out of favour with Roeder ( prefers Croft), cheaper Z list buys than ours! Yet, yesterday well impressed with their support (their biggest crowd this season) - for most of the game ALL of their end were singing. And a bit of humour, which was spot on for the day, "you only sing when you're drumming"! ( and then only the die hards with the same old songs). 6. Finally, and sorry waffling on, but what do you think of this as a possibility. Huckerby dropped for their Barnsley game ( shocked their supporters), subs bench at Bury, not even in squad yesterday, (in his suit collecting an award before kick off), locals say Roeder prefers Croft right midfield and that's only position Hucerby plays now - is he Leicester bound? UP THE CITY!

Although I'd think the chances are very minimal.

I'm going to try to get to more games - have to fit in more reasons to pop over to see my dear old mam on home games! Yeah, I hate Huckerby too, especially since he conned the ref for a pen against Stearman at N'wich the other year. I know he can be lazy, drifts in and out of games, but when I've seen him in the flesh I've been impressed (begrudgingly). When he's on form and interested, always thought great pace and skill, which could help City for a year or two, or perhaps the pace has gone that's why Roeder might be ready to sell. Just struck me as strange he was not in the squad y'day but not injured, and the occasional custom on a transfer deal not to play the player against the team about to buy. Still, suppose Olly will have to be seen giving the 2 new Hungarians a fair chance.

But don't think we're in a position to say no if we did have the chance. Although I'd think the chances are very minimal. i would love to see Huckerby here, last season after the norwich home match my grankids wanted dions autograph, most of the players went straight onto the bus including leicesters old boy dublin but darren huckerby stayed out for about 20 minutes signing everything and chatting to our fans, having photo's and actually saying he would love to play in a stadium again like ours.I really hope we could get him as i think he would play with passion and give us 100%,as for dublin he's an ****hole!
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Spoke to my son today and he went to carrow yesterday he said the performance was like a rewind from about 2months ago,but he said when he got home and read the back of the merc he about pissed his self with holloway saying the play offs are not out of our reach, what a w.c.w.
Joe. Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Couldn't be arsed to post last night so here's my take on it: 1. Man of the Match: Stearman. And that's coming from me. 2. Did well to get a point. It could have been much worse. 3. Not sure about Ollie's defensive tactics. Lee Croft had half the pitch whenever he wanted it, and we were lucky not to be at least one down by half time. 4. Better second half, improved. Chambers and Hayles made a difference and we could maybe have snatched something. 5. **** off reserved seating. That really annoys me at away games. I'm not sure who sorts it all out, but it's terrible.
Sods Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Well that was wank. Probably won't go their again. 1st of all sitting down, i usually stay in my seat and am at the front of the standing but yesterday was fooking wank. The seats were so uncomoftable for starters it was better staniding up, then the miserables bastards shouting sit down you willy puller. Every half opportunity of getting near the final third i was standing up just to piss them off. I was sat in row Z and fook me noone bloody sang until we all stood up towards the end, how ironic I was trying to give it some but noone would carry it on. Argggggggggh. Make some noise. Points from game. Hayles had the right attitude - giving it to them. Howard keeps winning everything. Hume was wank, then he puts in the worst cross in the world, what do we hear. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuume. Get out of his arse. Mattock got a run around in the 1st half, Alnwick is quality.
WetFlannel Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Seems alot of the Hayles criticism has stopped... I knew he would turn out to be useful. Still to early to say though, but the signs are encouraging.
Ric Flair Posted 21 January 2008 Posted 21 January 2008 It sounds like we were lucky to get anything from the game, so we should be thankful we've picked something up. If you can win the games you play well in and still pick up results when you play badly then you'll not go too far wrong. It shows that a few injuries and suspensions and we're still very exposed, but that's to be expected. It's going to take time, I still don't think we can expect Holloway to get the squad right before the end of the season, unless there's a further flurry of signings but it's difficult to get players in this month without paying a shit load of money. Let's hope Clemence & Laczko can get fit for next Monday and we can perhaps get some more competition in the squad as Palace will be a difficult game, but I fancy our chances. Another strong performance at home and that will mean we're unbeaten in about 4 or 5 at home and it's been a long time since we had any confidence of a good home record. If we can stay unbeaten at home and pick up a few results away then the signs for next season will be promising, it's still too early to think we're out of the woods yet though. Looking forward to February, some great games coming up, all winnable as well, with a bit of luck.
Shrenchel Posted 21 January 2008 Posted 21 January 2008 Reserved seating is the work of the devil. May not be a a problem for clubs where basically the whole away support stands but our following really relies on the small number that want to sing and stand being able to group together. I've got a mate that supports Wednesday and he says that although there are some supporters that don't stand/sing at away games, they understand the benefit it has and why others want to, so are quite happy to find somewhere else to sit if someone is in their seat. Wish I could say the same about our bunch. Don't understand why so many of our fans our so docile and reserved in terms of supporting the team but as soon as some geezer is stood infront of their seat they turn into the fooking incredible hulk.
