Thracian Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 And despite these stats, we kept them out. A good result against an in form side.If we can draw away and win at home, that's and average of 2 points a game. Simplistic I know, but that's promotion form... I agree but, sadly, it still represents a hammering of mammoth proportions and shows how much more Holloway has to do.
lee7 Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 After listening to the game, im happy we got a point, because it really sounds it could have been all done and dusted by half time. However, if youd offered a point to me this morning, id have said no, because i really thought after last week we could beat them today, so i guess from that point of view its a little disappointing. But on the whole, not too bad. exactly what i was going to say.
mat_j101 Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 exactly what i was going to say. You know what they say......... Great minds think alike!
WetFlannel Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 but a 9 game unbeaten run in the league including 4 wins - 10 games now! That means bugger all on the day and we should be beating teams like this if we want any chance of staying up. Saying we are happy with a point against a team in 18th, whislt the other lower teams such as QPR start moving up the league, is disgraceful. It really is pathetic going to lowly teams and settling for a point.

But Norwich are moving up the league just like QPR are (although not in such dramatic fashion), and the way QPR are playing id be happy with a point against them
Head Honcho Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Definitely a point gained in the cumcumstances. I'm staggered we didn't sort our tactics until half-time though because Norwich could have been over the horizon by then. The game would seem to have returned Laczko to mere mortality. Oakley sounded like our MoM judging by the ground he covered despite having to run off an injury. I don't know how much credit the defence deserves for another clean sheet cos Norwich had too many chances for my liking. In attack Hayles found something to nibble at when no-one else found much at all but missed two golden opportunities. Howard sounded like a bit of a donkey and was hardly involved and, as someone mentioned, poor Hume was used for a game of pass the parcel. Weso did extraordinarily well to last 90 minutes and Bori seemed to have a better second half. Anyway Palace to look forward to and the last time I recall us playing them at home in midweek we won 2-0 I think. That'd do, for sure. Do you reckon? I honestly heard his name just once in the second half! From the commentary I'd say MoM for us was Alnwick and probably MoM overall.

Why should we be beating teams "like this" I wouldn't class Norwich as a poor team (League position says otherwise but take a look at ourselves) what makes us so mighty and what gives us the right to be slagging other teams off?

It sounded like we were punch drunk at times but somehow we survived. There are searching questions to be asked as a consequence but it sounded as if a few people rolled their sleeves up and refused to surrender.

teblin Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 We need an good back up for oakley and clemence and good back up for Kisnorbo and McAuely. We also need a left back. may another wide player. thats another 4 players

Stevosevic Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 I'm pleased that we played badly and still got a point, maybe our luck has turned? Who knows, Palace will be a completely different proposition, seven points from the next three games would do nicely.
The Stig Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 We need an good back up for oakley and clemence and good back up for Kisnorbo and McAuely. We also need a left back. may another wide player. thats another 4 players Agreed, I think that's realistic. Obviously I wasn't there but it sounds like we've had better preformances, lets wait another couple of games before we make a judgement on how good the new LCFC are.
Lillehamring Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 i think it is unfair to be too critical of this result, or even the performence, we started the game with 6 outfield players who were either reasonably new or not mtach fit. we were playing a team who are obviously confident and are used to playing together. we took a battering at times, fair enough, but our keeper showed he can make good saves and work well with our back four. and, christ we could have even sneeked a cheeky win at the end. after all the hype and fuss of last week, today was always going to be an effort, last week the new guys had nothing to lose, today they had to prove that they are the real deal... and it sounded like they showed up pretty well... at least it sounded like when we got the ball we were plaing it about! things are still taking shape, if we can get 4 from 6, whilst the new players are still settling in, it shows that the potential for greatness is there, and that holloway has got them out of their crippling negativity...
RowlattsFox Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Obviously would have preferd the victory but I'm content with a point. Better teams than us have only managed a point at Carrow Road in the last few weeks. Plus points are that its a 2nd consecutive clean sheat, we've lost 1 in 7 in the league, we need to put a run together and we're bound to have a few draws.
Mikey Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Good point and clean sheet. Could have won it though, but so could Norwich by the sounds of it. Looking forward to Palace and Blackpool.
joely22 Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Is Oakley a magician?............he seemed to disappear at half time! He does that. Although, it was always the last 20 with us.
Head Honcho Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 He does that.Although, it was always the last 20 with us. Always! Bloody hell I hope not.
Bryn Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Just spoke to a Norwich fan, apparently Alnwick got booked for using his fist to make a save. Not his fist on the ball that is, his fist into someone's face.

Quite agree, but it does make the idea of winning eight or nine games in succession to charge into the play-offs sound a bit ridiculous.
Jonezy Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Down to earth feeling after reading the reports. Looks like we got lucky, which makes a bloody difference. I had a feeling, that we could not keep going like last week, and were bound for a bit of dissappoint, but to steal a point like this makes a nice change, as normally we would have lost 2-0 and seen about 4 to 5 different 'Stearman is a plank' threads on these boards over the next couple of days. The guys still need to gel and 2 of our most influencial players missing didn't help the course. Pleased to hear about Alnwick's (still cant get my head around to call him Annick.. How the hell is that Annick???) apparent heroics, so we get forget about the class keeper we had 1st half of the season. Heads up, and I cant wait to hear, what the guys who went says.
Corky Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 It wasn't our best ever performance, but we defended well, and could have nicked it. We looked better when Hayles came on, and he was unlucky to hit the post. It is a point gained rather than two dropped. Four points out of six isn't a bad return, Norwich is a tough place to go, good atmosphere. Norwich should have won it though.
