Under 19's at the Dallas Cup

This should be a good chance for the Under 19's to get some experience against international competition.

The Dallas cup has been around since 1980.

IIRC the games are played at FC Dallas stadium and usually draw a good crowd.

“We are delighted that so many top boys youth teams from around the world of soccer, will be competing in our tournament next March, giving the players the very best competition and allow the Dallas soccer fans the opportunity to see the very best youth soccer and potential soccer stars of the future”, Dallas Cup executive director, Gordon Jago stated.

There are a number of new teams competing for the first time in the Super Group (U19) division, including:

* Andromeda SC - 2007 USYS National Boys Champions

* Leicester City - 2007 Premier League Champions

Ryutsu Keizai FC - 2007 Prince Takamodo Cup Champions

*

Liverpool FC - popular British club owned by Dallas businessman Tom Hicks, Jr., and George Gillett (Liverpool’s first team won the FA Cup in 2006)

*

Slavija FK - from Sarajevo , host city of the 1984 Olympic Winter Games

* Whitecaps FC - part of the developmental system for the Vancouver Whitecaps USL 1st Division team

Hopefully he will be! Speaking to Billy Kee earlier about this and he said they are flying out on the 19th March. Think he mentioned something about Sao Paolo being in there group. Anyone fancy flying out to supprt the boys :)

I'm considering it. Dallas is en route to my son's fiance in Albuquerque, New Mexico so he's fairly keen too.

I love the idea of this. Take a few of the lads from last year who got given professional contracts ( after all it was them that won it and most will still qualify for this tournament) and we could well give ourselves a good showing.

Meanwhile we need to all bombard Sky to get them to televise it. If not, i imagine Sopcast will get a few of the games. :thumbup:

I don't think it works like that. Someone mentioned to me after the Sunderland final that it was basically this season's team that's going, though I'd stand correcting.

Mattock would probably qualify because he's played in the FA Youth Cup recently but not Andy King, Max Gradel, Eric Odhiambo and so on.

Even so, with Ryan Beswick back and the likes of Billy McKay, Billy Kee, Ashley Chambers, Jorrin John and Lee Cox I'm sure we can do ourselves justice.

Does anyone know how you go about getting tickets at this end?

Tickets are now available by calling 214/221-3636. We accept VISA and MC and tickets will be held at Will Call starting March 16. If you would like to purchase your tickets in time for Christmas, you may come by the Dallas Cup, Inc. office (located at 12700 Park Central Drive, Suite 507, Dallas 75251) to pick them up. TICKETS WILL NOT BE MAILED OUT

All-Tournament Adult Pass- $40 (pass includes admission to all 5 days (March 16, 19, 21, 22, 23)/14 games in Pizza Hut Park Stadium)

Quite a good deal. 20 quid.

Thanks for that, sounds an excellent deal. Add on a sensible flight offer, borrow my son's fiance's family Winnebago and it's all starting to look like a promising prospect. :thumbup:

does it make a difference that this is an U19 cup and the youth team is , i thought, U18?

My brother may be possibly playing for the whitecaps u-19 squad that travels to the dallas cup, if he gets selected for the squad i will maybe by a ticket and travel along with the team

I jolly well hope you will be rooting for the city lads to win! lol.
