Derby Taken Over...

I bet they bought it because of their history.

After all they did name their previous ground in honour of that great sport at which the Americans are always World Champions (possibly because only American teams play in it!) - Baseball.

The World Series?!?!? Don't make me laugh! Ooops...too.late... :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

****ing rounders on speed!

Well it was finally confirmed after months of rumours that the yanks were coming.

Is a fantastic deal for the club, a massive financial boost which will hopefully lead to some football players being signed. I would usually say quality players being signed but the current shower of shite surely can't be considered football players.

Anyways, will pop back on Monday when all the details have been released.

Why they bought Derby, god only knows!!

Erm... it's called the World Series cos it was sponsored by The World newspaper - Like the Carling Cup (which isn't full of nasty cheap beer)

Still, Americans and their insolationist sports - whats that all about?

And Derby - Preston yesterday! :D:crylaugh:

They're in the premiership though. I'd rather be 20th in the prem than 20th in the championship.

Being the nations laughing stock?!

Would you?!

After our manager merry-go-round this season, some might argue that we ain't far from being one anyway

True but you're not being mocked in the press week in week out or carrying the lowest ever points total in Premiership history!!

In hindsight, I'd rather be in your position than ours!!

I just watched on East Midlands today about it.

The fans were moaning saying it wasn't enough!

What a bunch of ungrateful retards.

Bit harsh.

From what was said in the morning, the company that has just bought the club only made a profit of $7.1million or in other words £3.5million so people were wondering where the money was coming from. That's the reason why people were saying it wasn't enough.

However, there are outside investors who they aren't naming yet. That is where the money is coming from.

The Yanks are certainly making the right noises and everything seems rosy off the pitch at Pride Park at the moment, give it six months and it'll all go tits up  !!

I thought your old board were quite well off  and pretty shit hot with their accounts as well, didn't they manage to make about 20 million pounds in debt dissapear without admin?

Yeah they were. When they took over, the deal was pretty structured as in, the board wipe out so much of the debt, the Co-Op Bank wipe out another part and we don't pay £8million of the debt until we're promoted.

They were fairly well off but not enough to compete in the Premier League.

lol Well it's a bit late to be addressing that problem now :giggle:

HA HA HA :D

Who are these guys? Some of them have some experience in front offices of NBA teams, but besides that, these guys have no team ownership pedigree (and probably not a lot of money relative to lots of other owners). GSE's big acquisition before Derby? A single-A minor league baseball team (which, if baseball's structure were similar to the football league system, would be like half-League Two team, half-reserve team)!

Derby were saying that their new owners had experience in sports--I don't know who the f*** these guys are and I've had to use Google to try and find out.

They're going bust in one season!

I seriously doubt that we'll go bust in a season! I'm not sure whether that was a joke or whether you were being serious.

It isn't them personally who are investing in the club, the investment comes from an outside company who haven't been named yet. Funds have been made available to Paul Jewell, although I presume that he will use most of them up come June / July / August time.

They're more of a sports management company than anything with a lot of experience in marketing. You're right that they don't have any ownership pedigree but that's why Adam Pearson is on the board still, along with Peter Gadsby and Don Amott.

Hope that clears a few things up.
