danny. Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Was it just me or was he just a class above everyone else on the pitch when he came on? I don't remember a pass going astray and he attempted a lot of pretty unpredicatable, difficult, passes. I honeslty don't think we would have won if he hadn't come on as, IIRC, that goal came from a fantastic ball he put in the box. Everyone is raving about Laczko but I think Bori seems a much more rounded and competent player and, I hate to say this, miles better as a footballer than Hume on the basis of last night. Have I gone mad? Anyone else feel the same?
Sparky Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori is very neat and tidy , rarely gives the ball away but id like to see him run at defenders as he does not seem to have the confidence at the minute
Nationwider Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 He came on for ten minutes or so after the rest of the players had spent the entire game flogging their guts out in a ploughed field. He was bound to look decent-ish in those circumstances.
MikeyT Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 I agree, i read on the Post match thread form yesterday, someone said he was crap, or words to that effect. The guy came on for 10 minutes and played a part leading up to the goal as well as playing some good stuff before that! I sometimes wonder what people see when they watch matches!
Sirloin Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 I thought when they both made their debuts that Bori looked the better player. He had more composure on the ball, and his passing and shooting were much stronger. Also, he seemed to understand the idea that he was a winger, unlike Laczko who only got more of the ball because he was playing as a striker rather than a winger for most of the first half. He could do with a couple more yards pace though.
eaststandtom Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 the guy looked good when he came on and played some insightful passes! omne of these led to the goal so in fairness he helped win the game played well
Micky Ruddle Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori looked good last night. He also impressed me. Ollie's got a good eye for Hungarians.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Very neat and tidy last night, looked the most assured player on the pitch. Not sure whether that was down to everyone else's tiring legs but was still good to see a couple of bright, enthusiastic substitutes instead of the likes of Newton. I still have faith in Laczko, he just needs to adapt to the fast-pressing nature of the game over here. He has the quality on the ball to be a force in this league once he gets properly fit and gets used to the way you have to play.
MPH Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori did exactly what he should of done.. played his heart out when he came on to show why he should be in the starting line up.. but dont forget that Hume had done alot of the donkey work and had set the scene nicely for Bori to come on and do what he did... The same would happen if it had been the other way round, i reckon.... Its called competition for places and lets be honest its not somthing we have been used to over the last few years.. I think Ollie hit the nail on the head last night when he commented : " its nice for a change to have strength in depth with players coming off the bench" DJ coming off the bench, Bori coming off the bench. Its starting to look very promising... early days, i know... but 3 clean sheets in a row 2 walkers wins in a row...
Shipman Out Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 I agree with earlier comment that on his debut he looked a better player of the two Hungarians, I was suprised he didnt come on earlier as i think Hume is over rated in every posistion he plays.

Agreed, but i hear Fryatt more likely to be off with Commons coming to us, Id have DJ and Howard, Hayles and Hume on bench. Bori right and Commons left.
The Stig Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori is very neat and tidy , rarely gives the ball away but id like to see him run at defenders as he does not seem to have the confidence at the minute Couldn't have said it better. I'd start him and Zsolt on either wing, they'll grow in confidence and ability given games. If for any reason one of them doesn't grow in either area then they can go back to Hungary On a serious note though Im pleased with both signings so far.
mancfox Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Just to clear it up it was Oakley with the assist but Bori did play an important part in the build up.
Joe. Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 He looked good yeah but it was a 10 minute appearance, and he was fresh whereas most of the other players on the pitch were not. I hope he shows more of this form like he showed against Coventry and last night on a consistent basis. He's made a good start so far and I hope it continues.
Corky Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 That was a great cross from Oakley for the goal. It was a horrible ball to defend, and Sir Barry blasted it in, keeper had no chance Bori looks a good player, so far the signings from Ollie have been very impressive. Keep it up lads!
Simi Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Not quite sure why he was dropped, perhaps not quite match fit yet. But from what we've seen so far I'd say it's promising. He finds some decent positions out wide, also inside when he wants to. I'd much rather see him there as opposed to Hume.

Were you watching the game? Hayles didnt blast it in..it hit him and went in!!
SPF07 Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori and Laczko for me to start on either wing!! Howard/ Hume or Dj upfront. Hayles is rubbish!
Hugo Sanchez Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori came on and made a impact what was needed. Laczko looked lost at times and i just hope it is because he isn't match fit or just needs team to learn english football.
RowlattsFox Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 I think we will see the best of Bori and Laczko next season, we will see glimpses of what they can do between now and the end of the season and they will have the occassional excellent game. Halmosi went to January last year and has only really found some consistency this season, they are both young and will need time to settle in this country and adapt to the english game.
Samilktray Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori and Laczko for me to start on either wing!! Howard/ Hume or Dj upfront. Hayles is rubbish! Hayles seems to have a knack for being in good positions for goals... not exactly rubbish.
lildave3 Posted 29 January 2008 Posted 29 January 2008 Bori and Laczko for me to start on either wing!! Howard/ Hume or Dj upfront. Hayles is rubbish! Good work rate, holds the ball up pretty decent, 2 goals in what, 4 games? Curse the twat.
