Thracian Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 I think we definately need a change. He has been knowhere near convincing all season and his performances explain why Birmingham were so happy to let him go Holloway was quite praising of the team afterwards. He sounded like he's got his side and is standing by them. Three successive defeats, two goals in five matches, third game in five that we've failed to score. And as for those 11 points out of 15 mentioned, it's nought out of 9 so far. So much for going with experience.

hairy Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 We have played better each time he has been suspended. Hes not the playmaker they appear to give him credit for. I haven't seen him make any 'killer passes' since the start of the season now. I would have dropped him a while ago and tried something different.
WetFlannel Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Definately drop him to make a statement. Give Kisnorbo or Oakley the armband in the meantime, but I wouldn't make it a permanent thing.
STUHILL Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Wasn't impressed with Ollies comments. He seemed reasonably happy with the performance and thought just lacked luck. I didnt go but sounded a lot different on radio. Im worried that Ollie will stick to this side and thes tactics!
Ultra Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Clemence is a chosen man and always has been. It doesn't matter how bad he plays, Holloway will never drop him. But he's been a consistent weak link all season since Allen left. He just hasn't settled at all.

He has no excuses now he has Oakley playing along side him. He needs to be dropped and given a lesson, by someone like Weso or even try King there. But Ollie after that interview doesnt seem to see much wrong. Im getting the feeling as long as Ollie sees passion and determination then he's happy, and stuff the performance!!!!

Thracian Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Don't sound so bloody pleased about it! I think it was August I first mentioned we hadn't got enough fire power and wouldn't score enough goals and I've got sick of warning about it ever since. Pleased? I'm so pissed off and so frustrated I'm feeling beyond disappointment, it's more a sort of numbed hopelessness. In fact I was so certain we would lose tonight and that we wouldn't score either that I didn't want to go and didn't even want to listen.
The Reverend Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 At the end of the day, relinquishing Clemence of the captaincy is just going to cause more disharmony and lack of spirit at the club. To say we need a new captain, is saying you know bugger all. I'm not saying dont drop him, but doing that isnt going to make things better. Fact.

It will if you replace him with Weso or King that actually give a fook, too many people on here show blind loyalty then say those that don't know fook all, Clemence is an awful captain, shows no leadership and seems disinterested and is giving the ball away constantly, if he wasn't club captain he'd of been dropped weeks ago. the problem is there is no natural replacement as skipper, Oakley isn't a leader, nor are McAuley or Kisnorbo
Bert Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 We have no real leader out there. Saying that Clemence is the next best thing we have to a leader.

You say Clemence is an awful captain. Brum were'nt complaining last season. Its because we're not winning. If we were you'd be licking his arse.

Brum were'nt complaining last season. Its because we're not winning. If we were you'd be licking his arse. Yes. But it's the Captains job to spur the team on with gritty performances. Playing with more tempo when we're 1-0 down, making things happen. I mean. even picking out his teammate who has 20 yards of space? Oh no Clemence only has a right eye. Which only looks to the right. Ever. Oh and if we were winning then maybe he'd be doing his job properly Saying that changing the captain is likely to have an adverse effect - but then how much worse can you get than having like 2 shots on target against 10 men?
Father Ted Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 agreed. oakley and weso That reminds me. Why did Holloway not bring on Weso for Clemence last night instead of bringing Hayles on or wasting Hume on the fcuking wing.??
Thracian Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 That reminds me. Why did Holloway not bring on Weso for Clemence last night instead of bringing Hayles on or wasting Hume on the fcuking wing.?? Weso, like King, Mattock etc, seems to have been confined to the wilderness in the name of experience - and aren't we doing well for it! And where have all the dramas gone from our once marvellous free-kicks? Oh yes, captain Clemence!

Brum were'nt complaining last season. Its because we're not winning. If we were you'd be licking his arse. oh shut up, did Bostock (a rookie) playing cause Palace to stay in the bottom 3? oh no the went on a 15 game unbeaten run and are now very much in the play off hunt and Brum had infinitely more quality then we have, also it's not like they have missed him, we are playing shit, how much worse could we be with either Wesolowski or King in there instead of the overrated disinterested Clemence?
Darkzzz_ Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Is Clemence cracking under the pressure of being captain at this club? I personally think he has been poor for us, i remember when he came with Brum last season, he stood out that night and i said to myself, he is what we need at this club. He has certainly not produced that level of consistency with us, maybe good players playing around him last season made him look good.
Moreton Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I think we definately need a change. He has been knowhere near convincing all season and his performances explain why Birmingham were so happy to let him go Yeah we need to change things around. All of the first team regulars such as Clemence need to be dropped. It would'nt hurt to drop him to the bench and put weso and oakely up there would it? i mean we have got note else to try now!

Agreed, but there's no way he'll be anywhere other than the starting line up unless he's injured. Such a frustrating player because he has shown glimpses of the player he is/can be but on a no-way near consistent enough basis.
