Are you sure you only cracked 'one' off. If so, kudos to you my friend. Oh, and by the way, do the upper classes really have 'sperm hankies' ?

Zingari Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 considering how this thread has developed here's one view from the bible regarding " cracking one off" ; so believers beware "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:28. Contrary to our present culture which encourages looking at other people and "getting turned on," Jesus viewed this sin as being very serious. He urged people to radically deal with lust, and says that it is something that can keep us from eternal life (Matthew 5:29-30). happy cracking
The People's Hero Posted 18 February 2008 Author Posted 18 February 2008 The very thought of that is touching. Christians nationwide meeting up for picnics, walks in the park, interesting museum visits and abstinance. I wouldn't have thought so. Ooh some dinosaur bones. God forgot to mention those in his creationist bollocks where Adam and Eve were the first created. Oh no - not some bones supporting the evolution of man - must be fabricated. Etc etc.

That's me and the entire global population of Catholic priests off the hook.

danny. Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 how do dinosaur bones support the evolution of man?
The People's Hero Posted 18 February 2008 Author Posted 18 February 2008 how do dinosaur bones support the evolution of man? I didn't say that mate - 2 separate points. Both points though are a kick in the balls to creationists.

God forgot to mention those in his creationist bollocks where Adam and Eve were the first created. Oh no - not some bones supporting the evolution of man - must be fabricated. Etc etc. well the word dinosaur wasnt used before the 1800's so i cant see how it would be in the bible.. there is a creature written about in the bible that doesnt fit any animal known to man today... known as the Behemoth Job 40:15 "Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox. Job 40:16 Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. Job 40:17 He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. Job 40:18 His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron. Job 40:19 "He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword! Dont know any animal around today that eats grass and has a tail as stiff as a cedar tree... aaand im just waiting for the " thats what i am like on a saturday night" comments about to pour in by about 50% of this board...

Daggers Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 there is a creature written about in the bible that doesnt fit any animal known to man today... known as the Behemoth Not exactly Jurassic Park.
MPH Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Not exactly Jurassic Park. Because Holywood productions are where all the facts are at, obviously!
Daggers Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Because Holywood productions are where all the facts are at, obviously! No. The simple point is that you are trying to use a piss-poor description of one creature in order to cover up for the absence of the mention in the Bible of any genus of dinosaur that ever existed. Hollywood managed to cram in quite a few different types. Also, the flippant manner in which you dismiss mention of the word 'Dinosaur' simply because its etymology dates from 1836* when the first genus was named by William Buckland is ridiculous. Not possessing the word does not prevent one from refering to them - as had been done by the Greeks and Romans (mythological creatures) all the way through to the Middle Ages where bones were attributed to giants. Most accept that the Bible is no reference source in the justification of religion based on its wholly insubstancial nature. I think I'll stick with Hollywood, thank you. *Although the actual word was not used until 1842 by Owen.

I'm sure some christians might do, but then some Atheists reject Evolution as a means of existence- Like China for example.. biggest secular / atheist country in the world and its scientific governing body has rejected Evolution as a means of explaining existence. so you have a creature you know that has a tail that looks like a cedar tree? could you tell me one? Cant help it you choose to ignore what i say about the Behemoth i referred to one you just didnt agree with me. Just wondering... because thats a pretty big and long... (Brontosaurus was a plant eater )
danny. Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 so you have a creature you know that has a tail that looks like a cedar tree? could you tell me one? a really really really big crocodile?

MC Prussian Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 MPH's entertaining "Behemoth=Dinosaur" Bible Claim Don't mingle an exisiting, now-extinct animal group like the dinosaurs with a mythological creature known as the Behemoth: The Behemoth is actually a hebrew creation, based on the Egyptian God Seth and unites traces of a hippo, elephant, water ox and a goat. A bit far off any description of a Saurus, don't you think? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behemoth Plus, it once more proves that the Bible is a collection from all sorts of ancient religious sources, resulting in a new mishmash known as Christianity. The Church is just another sect amongst many others, albeit a very established one. After all, 2000 years is 2000 years.
