Daggers Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 One of my favourite all-time punchlines of all-time: "A Doyouthinkhesaurus"
MC Prussian Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 aaand im just waiting for the " thats what i am like on a saturday night" comments about to pour in by about 50% of this board... Quite frankly, I consider that post offending. And you call yourself a Christian? Off to the Confessionnal, or
MPH Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Don't mingle an exisiting, now-extinct animal group like the dinosaurs with a mythological creature known as the Behemoth:The Behemoth is actually a hebrew creation, based on the Egyptian God Seth and unites traces of a hippo, elephant, water ox and a goat. A bit far off any description of a Saurus, don't you think? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behemoth Plus, it once more proves that the Bible is a collection from all sorts of ancient religious sources, resulting in a new mishmash known as Christianity. The Church is just another sect amongst many others, albeit a very established one. After all, 2000 years is 2000 years. yep sure. that sure has a tail like a cedar tree. Job 40:17 He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together and If you would like to re-read the verses i posts you will see it wasnt a mythical creature. The issue is more to do with your veiw of the bible, of course.
Daggers Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 that's kick ass - can you get them as pets? They're for life, mind - not just February the 18th
MPH Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Quite frankly, I consider that post offending. And you call yourself a Christian? Off to the Confessionnal, or I remember posting a serious thread a few weeks back and within 5-6 posts it was ripped apart by comments so thought i would get there first.

Just wait until the Behemoth in my picture reaches the state of divine horny-ness... The stiffness of that tail would even surprise a devote cult follower like you, my friend. I don't have a view of the Bible, because I'm not doing any interpretation. See the difference? It remains a collection of funny stories from dubious ancient sources. Fact.
MC Prussian Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 that's kick ass - can you get them as pets? Not yet - but I've heard of a very popular computer game in Japan called BEHEMOTCHI.
Flynny Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Good job there's nothing about alter boys.Phew! That's me and the entire global population of Catholic priests off the hook. Job 40:15 "Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox. Job 40:16 Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. Job 40:17 He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. Job 40:18 His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron. Job 40:19 "He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword! First animals appeared almost 400 million years before the dinosaurs, and they were marine. Since dinosaurs have only been extinct 65 million years thats a pretty long time. If this was talking about dinosaurs, which is a ridiculously long shot, it'd be entirely incorrect anyway.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 considering how this thread has developed here's one view from the bible regarding " cracking one off" ; so believers beware "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:28. Contrary to our present culture which encourages looking at other people and "getting turned on," Jesus viewed this sin as being very serious. He urged people to radically deal with lust, and says that it is something that can keep us from eternal life (Matthew 5:29-30). happy cracking That's like, so first century.
Zingari Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 That's like, so first century. Yes you're probably correct . It's taken from the gospels ( written in the first century ) and as you imply it is out of date and a right load of old rubbish , and anyone would be an idiot to take them seriously. thanks for putting me straight

The People's Hero Posted 10 March 2008 Author Posted 10 March 2008 only got about half way through yet as i keep getting sidetracked by things, but this bloke sounds interesting and tries to prove that morality does not need religion , i have not tried the test yet myself but a lot is explained in the bookTPH may know more about it http://moral.wjh.harvard.edu/index2.html Certainly an interesting test. I'd argue that to an extent morality is subjective anyway, depending upon one's upbringing and the culture in to which any one person has been born, pushed or voluntarily been drawn towards. Religion might well play a role in that, I suppose, just as any other individual 'idea' or 'way of life' might. For what it's worth, I'd argue that of course morality does not need religion. Morality in my eyes is 90% the ability to empathise, sympathise and understand that this world is not just for yourself but for others too and the remaining 10% concerning different cultures, disparate societies and the rules and laws which go along with them. It's all about respect, isn't it?
