just a little paraphrased snippet from the book :)

Richard Dawkins; "when asked about my atheism, i always ask the questioner ";

" do you believe in zeus, apollo, amon-ra , mithras , baal, thor, wotan, the golden calf , etc etc" . When they invariably reply that they don't ; i just say, "it seems that we are both atheists then, but i just go one god further"

:D :D brilliant

I have skipped a page or two Sorry. I just want to reply to the post that says athiests reject the Commandments. Not entirely true. As I see it the Commandments are a set of laws much as our government sets out. I agree with 'Thow shall not kill' Thou shall not steal' Not sure of them all but I do not think 'I am the only God, love no other' being the most important. (quote may not be exact) Coverting your neighbours ass is out of date. I have never killed and I try to treat everybody the same yet because I do not Praise a GOd I am told there is no place in the afterlife for me. I have no problems with people believing. One bloke I know turned Christian or to the church when going through a bad period in his life. He said it helped him get through it. I will not argue with him if that is what he believes and he felt better because of his faith. But my theory is that the inner strength was there all the time and religion gave him the insentive to make decisions that helped him. He put belief in his God above believing in himself.

A lot of religions do good, but what puts me off is if they ask you to help they expect you to believe as well. I don't think you need to believe to help others. Religion does not have the monopoly on good deeds.

I do believe in a God ofsorts. That is God is in your conscience. Its up to the individual how they act and praying to an imaginay icon is one way to make things right and your actions justifiable.

I think the nutty religions are rare and the majority of Christians etc are genuine and do good but I do not believe I need what they have to do what they do.

Which version of the Bible do you read? I thought it was neighbour's wife, but hey ho!

thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

exodus 20:17 ,

your bible's rubbish :D

in good bibles you can't covet anything

To be fair, there is no Bible in my house. :dunno: I'm just trying to remember what they told us in RE, however, as I spent most of my time doodling I really don't know.

yeah i think that's fine ; but i'd be inclined to go further afield just to be sure ; i wouldn't want you to be refused entry into the kingdom of heaven on a technicality

The famous author, atheist, geneticist and God-botherer Richard Dawkins has caused controversy by announcing that he is the all-knowing creator of the universe.

At a press conference this afternoon, he said, "This may seem a little unusual, and I realise not everyone will accept what I say, but it's true. I am God.

"I am sure you are aware of the big bang - well, I did that."

It was pointed out to Mr Dawkins that for years he has been successfully promoting his atheism and disproving the existence of God, so how did he reconcile that with his new belief.

"This was my plan all along. I needed to wean you off your old Gods so you would be ready for me. In a way I was right, there is no God - except me. And I'm always right, because I'm God. So no matter what you say, it doesn't matter, I'll be able to get out of the argument."

Another journalist asked if he had any demands as God. He replied, "No, other than that you worship me only. But if you don't then there's not much I can do, since I don't believe in heaven or hell."

The very thought of that is touching. Christians nationwide meeting up for picnics, walks in the park, interesting museum visits and abstinance.

The very thought of the Christian lady in the ad has got me touching.

Just finished it.

Rise up with me fellow atheists. Let us stand up and be strong and talk of things which exist.

Dawkins is an idiot. He needs to pull his head out of his arse and try and present his arguments in a neutral fashion to try to get some of the middle ground across. Titling a book "The God Delusion" is not a good start. He also interviews very poorly.

BTW, athiests are idiots - just as dogmatic in their beliefs (or lack thereof) as religious folk.
