Bert Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 I think FM has given people unrealistically high expectations of this geezer. I don't. The boy is class. You'll see in a few years when he's playin for a top 6 prem club and an England regular. You don't make your debut for your club when for 15 just for a laugh mate.

It's impossible to judge how far a player will go at this stage.

A few of us have said we think he should be included in a team that's currently a crap championship team and we've been declared as thinking Chambers is better than he actually is and then you state that he'll be a premiership player in a few years?! Surely if that's the case, it wouldn't be inappropriate for him to warrant a place in the first team squad, even at 17?

All good players play regularly at 17 - Rooney did, bale, walcott does etc. He won't be an england regular. it's a bold statement to make to be fair.

Ashley Chambers would probably be a first team regular at 17 if it wasn't for his double cruciate ligament injury last season. I think it's set him back a year or so, I hope it doesn't hinder the rest of his career. But having read your exceptionally accurate and sterling football related posts on many occasions I will bow down to your knowledge Tommy. I bet Peter Crouch wishes he'd taken your advice as well.

The People's Hero Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 I'm dreaming of a world where I care.
shiv Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 What's happened to him recently? I remember Ollie bringing him into the first team, and now seems to have dissappeared! he didn't impress me much when he was playing, but he'll only get better. Surely a place on the bench won't hurt? can we really afford to stick our youngsters in at this point?
Thracian Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 can we really afford to stick our youngsters in at this point? Chambers won't figure but I seem to remember Mattock coming in and doing well in last season's crisis and Logan keeping what we thought were vital clean sheets at Preston and Bansley.
