SamL Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 I've got my first lesson tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous. Anybody got any tips?
lildave3 Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Well i'm still 3/4 weeks away and i'm already shitting it. Godo luck
Unit Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 I remember posting the same thing on here a few months ago, now i'm probably the best driver on the road (slight exaggeration considering i've not even passed yet but...) DON'T take ANY notice of what you think you've learnt on video games. you can't just floor it, everything is much more delicate than you'll probably expect, lift the clutch slowly and accellerate slower than you'd think, don't just slam it down! Oh and break gently too, I remember thinking you just slammed every pedal down

Just directional buttons and an X, a triangle, a square and a circle. Makes life so simpler

Finchy Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Listen to your instructor maybe? That could very well be the key to success! Just don't be nervous, it really isn't bad as long as you listen and take it slowly. Oh yeah and don't turn the opposite way to where you are indicating,
MikeyT Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 I'm sure there is somewhere on the internet where you can download a fake driving licence...just do that! If not, then send 5 tokens from the back of a Weetabix box and £1.99 to claim your free drivers lincence! Terms and conditions apply! hehe

Finchy Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Oh yeah another tip, i know it's really hard for us boys, but on ur first lesson don't feel you have to speed up just because there is a big trail of cars close behind you, let them over take.
Tevez Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Well i'm still 3/4 weeks away and i'm already shitting it.Godo luck Do you still need that booster seat?
Sods Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Well im pretty much sure you will love it. Ive had about 7 lessons (booking my test tommoro) and i enjoy it a lot. Just listen to your instructor and don't be afraid to ask anything even if you think its stupid. Good Luck.

Babylon Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Don't slam your brakes on, get out the car and threaten to smack someone if they are tailgating you... that doesn't go down too well at all.
Raj Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I've got my first lesson tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous. Anybody got any tips? If you get a lady instructor...just accidentally caress her knee. If you get a man instructor...just accidentally caress his knee.

danny. Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I passed 3rd time, and took about 20-25 lessons. Few of my friends passed first time, they are crap drivers! Being a good driver and passing the test aren't related, unless it's an inverted relationship!

Yer definatly most of the people i know who have passed first time are pretty crap drivers and have had crashes already.
danny. Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 also some tests are definately rigged. my first test I had this woman who apparently had a reputation for "failing white people", sure enough I failed. Some of the stuff she asked me to do was crazy. Like, on welford road at rush hour, at the point it's 3 lanes wide near asquith boulevard, she waited until 50 yards away and said "turn right", I was in the left hand lane. I indicated to move lanes and a guy flashed me to go, I started moving over and she grabbed the steering wheel and screamed at me, and then failed me for "dangerous driving" - crazy.

I felt hard done by when I was failed twice. I passed third time, when to be honest, I hadn't driven in about 6 months and drove a lot worse than I previously had done. Also only gave me 2 minors, which was ridiculous. I remember even hitting the kerb when on the open road, and thinking sh it, that's it.

First test i failed because of a bus. The bus was indicating and physically turned its wheels to turn left, so i pulled out the junction expecting the bus to0 not chnage its mind at the last minute. My being extremely unlucky the bus decided to go straight on, meaning it had to slow down ( very slightly) because i had pulled out infront of it. Stupid busses changing there bloody minds. You'd expect a bus driver to know where hes going and not change his mind about turning off at the last minute.
