The Reverend Posted 5 September 2008 Posted 5 September 2008 Failed my theory test today.Got 67/75 on Hazard Perception, & 42/50 on Theory. So one mark off, <_< Unlucky Tilley. Glad i didnt have to do the new theory test with extra questions! Ah well.I'm in no rush. May I ask how? Thats what i was like. But then it started to piss me off that everyone could drive, and i couldnt. I really wish i'd of done mine as early as possible instead of fooking about.
The Blur Posted 5 September 2008 Posted 5 September 2008 My driving lessons are complicated by the fact my instructor is my own dad, in my first lesson he said since you are my son and not an ordinary customer I'm allowed to get pissed at you and call you names haha which doesn't exactly help my fragile confidence hahaha I also have a habiat of going in too fast at roundabouts or driving over the mini roundabouts otherwise than that I am just good as Lewis Hamilton I also back ourselves to be responisble of a road accident with at least one foxestalk users here in future!

I would really hate that tbh.
dandannieldanok Posted 16 September 2008 Posted 16 September 2008 Anyone know of any really cheap car insurance companies?
lildave3 Posted 16 September 2008 Posted 16 September 2008 Anyone know of any really cheap car insurance companies? Quinn. Apparently. Don't hold me to it though, i'm not very reliable. Oh, and I still haven't sent off for my provisional yet, I know you're all wondering.
dandannieldanok Posted 17 September 2008 Posted 17 September 2008 Quinn. Apparently.Don't hold me to it though, i'm not very reliable. Thanks for the help, out of all the quotes I'm getting Quinn was mid-range. I'm sorry in advance to anyone of Asian heritage (And I'll probably regret saying this), but I'm really getting pissed off with British companies that set-up call centres in India. The people on the end of the phone are polite enough but just don't grasp what you are talking about and it is hard to understand them back. Car insurance is a farcical thing anyway without the extra bother. Bloody Norwich Union!
Bluefoxtim Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Got my test friday morning. Any advice? Not at all confident.
Magictv Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 Got my test friday morning.Any advice? Not at all confident. Hard to do but try and stay as calm as you can, goodluck with it.
Floating Fox Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Got my test friday morning.Any advice? Not at all confident. Don't panic if you stall. I stalled on my test and passed (1st time ). Stay calm, have a Red Bull before you go, but make sure that don't make you need a slash! Good luck, wheres the test at?
SamL Posted 25 September 2008 Author Posted 25 September 2008 Don't panic if you stall. I stalled on my test and passed (1st time ). Stay calm, have a Red Bull before you go, but make sure that don't make you need a slash! Good luck, wheres the test at? Snap. Pulled up at the side of the road to stop and took my foot off the clutch without putting it into neutral. Got my test friday morning.Any advice? Not at all confident. I ate two bananas before my test, they helped quite a bit. They're supposed to help you to relax and concentrate so maybe you could try that? Just treat it like any normal driving lesson. Good luck.
The Reverend Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Got my test friday morning.Any advice? Not at all confident. Try you're best. If your best aint good enough on the day, do it again. Just stay calm.
potter3 Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Got my test friday morning.Any advice? Not at all confident. Make sure you give way to oncoming traffic when turning right at crossroads
Tabou Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Dress provacatively, and suggest some form of buggery.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Got my test friday morning.Any advice? Not at all confident. Ignore other drivers, for instance if you stall and they start beeping their horns e.t.c. Like SUAS, I stalled and passed first time. Also, try not to get bogged down by nerves, I did a bit and nearly cocked it up. If you think you've made a mistake that will fail you don't start getting careless, because a) it will probably only be a minor and b) testers can be lenient.
potter3 Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 If you think you'll be really nervous don't have a red bull or whatever as caffeine increases anxiety levels Don't do what I did and get 0 minors and 1 major
The Stig Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 I started lessons last week. The first lesson went very well and my next is on Monday. All good.
The Reverend Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 If you think you'll be really nervous don't have a red bull or whatever as caffeine increases anxiety levels Don't do what I did and get 0 minors and 1 major Or what i did and get 1 major and about 10 minors. Double :frusty:
Munzie Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Got my test friday morning.Any advice? Not at all confident. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre
dandannieldanok Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Mirror, signal, manoeuvre That reminds me, always remember to look in your blind spot when they pull you over.
Munzie Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 That reminds me, always remember to look in your blind spot when they pull you over. Good call. As a motorcyclist as well as a car driver, that's kept my alive on numerous occasions.

Benjani Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 I passed Monday 12 minors! A bit lucky, he said he could have failed me by giving me a major but in the end he said it was another minor. Just need to save up for a car now.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Failed my theory today <_< got 48 out of 50 on multiple choice but got 42 out of 75 on the hazard perception so failed by two on the hazard anyone got any tips for hazard perception? Get a DVD and practice
Bluefoxtim Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Just got back... Examiner asked me to open the bonnet, but because I was so nervous I was trying to find the latch in the completely wrong place, but then put my head together and got on with it. Seemed like a nice chap, having a bit of a chat, weather a bit misty, but no problem. Driving for a while and Pen is in his lap, still not touched the paper. Asks me to reverse round the corner, yep no problem. Comes up to a big roundabout, yep fine. So all fine and dandy, get back to the test centre, reverse into the parking bay please, ok no problem. Ok, "flick the engine off". So I smile and think "yeahhhhhh easy easy easy" then he looks at me says "im sorry but you have failed", yeah, fai...WHAT?! Your observation was lax on one of the roundabouts, and that is a serious fault. Otherwise a very nice drive. Hero to zero. Seriously could not believe he failed me, and I still have no idea on which roundabout it was! <_< Can't believe it. No test date until the middle of november now. Gonna have to spend at least another £100 on booking fees and refresher lessons. Gutted. Gotta go to bloody work tonight now as well. So all in all, I got 4 minors, and 1 serious. Been planning to pass for so long with Uni starting on monday.
JoeyB Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Unlucky Chap, i remember mine on the way into the test centre my instructor told me to reverse park into the spaces, and it took me 12 attempts to do it, and the examiners were their. then i had the nicest drive 4 minors, good old chat with "Howard Coleman" from Loughborough, They key to it, is to keep looking at your mirrors every 30 secs or so, and slow down and take decent looks at roundabouts/ junctions. I wonder if anyone has actually wrote off a car in their test?
