FleckneyFox Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 In my eyes 7 points will definately keep us up. This will mean Barnsley, Southampton And Sheff Wed will all have to win 3 games.
Ric Flair Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 I just hope we don't miss Hendrie too much, I know the rules state that players on loan can't play against their clubs they've come from, but I can't help thinking that had that not been the case and Hendrie allowed to play, then we'd cause an upset up there. The man thrives on upsetting rivals and enemies and he'd have put in a similar shift to his performance against West Brom the other week. Time for someone like Laczko to make a name for himself. It's games like this when certain players really need to put that bit extra in and prove their worth.
davieG Posted 3 April 2008 Author Posted 3 April 2008 We're not safe by a long shot, but the only games that matter are Colchester, Barnsley and Sheff Weds. Providing we beat Colchester and make sure we don't lose to Barnsley and Wednesday, we will be ok. Those are the crucial games.Obviously, I would prefer us to beat Sheff Utd, but it's not one of the vital games The trouble with that approach is that it makes it more unlikely that you'll get something from the Utd game thus putting more pressure on the so called vital ones. It also means that you really can't afford to drop any points in those games. I really don't see why it should be harder to get points from Utd than the others even more so the Barnsley game.
Thracian Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 There will be more twists and turns before this is decided. What a boost it would be if we won on Saturday, it will be tough there but we must throw everything at it. There is certainly a case for throwing everything at it but, much against my preference, I see all sorts of dissuaders. a) Our injury/unavailable list which has taken out Hendrie, Clemence, Hume, Clapham and DJ (I imagine). b) Two potential midfield replacements, King and Wesolowski are short of match fitness and another, N'Gotty is not going to be charging all over the place. c) Potential bench options Laczko and Etuhu haven't had much football nor do they have much form to call on. d) Scoring a better than average two goals away at Sheffield with less than prolific strikers and a weakened midfield is a big ask from a team that's been generally unconvincing away from home anyway, apart from special situations. Every time I look at it I go for contain/counter attack and MON kamikaze approach from free-kicks if we only have the courage to play free-kick specialist Beswick. I won't blame Holloway if he goes for broke but I don't think it's in his nature anyway and believe the more frustrating approach in our particular circumstances might have the better chance of repeating something like the Bristol City result. It will be fascinating to see what approach and what personnel the manager chooses. Anything other than defeat will be valuable.

Set pieces might be key, according to Bell followers he's meant to be a free-kick and corner specialist. Not seen enough of him to know whether that's true or not.

Let's hope so because we need someone to take em properly and whatever I might prefer on the left, I really cannot see Beswick getting the nod over Laczko or whoever else Holloway might go with.
tartanowl Posted 4 April 2008 Posted 4 April 2008 Massive game for us in the early kick off tomorrow. S****horpe have big injury and illness problems. If we win we'll all but mathematically send them down. We did it at Colchester a few weeks ago and I fancy us to do it to them tomorrow.

If we win we'll all but mathematically send them down. We did it at Colchester a few weeks ago and I fancy us to do it to them tomorrow. Scunny didn't have one meaningful shot on target against us last week. And we absolute shit. So if you don't beat them, Brian Laws should be either hanged or stoned to death.
LENNY GLOVER Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 s****horpe 1-0 that will do if it stays like that
StroudFox Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 Why do S****horpe always play at totally different times to the rest of the championship!
Fox You Forest Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 Why do S****horpe always play at totally different times to the rest of the championship! The Fans have to be back in the institution by 5pm.
Super Arj Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 S****horpe 1-1 Sheff Wed thats all right I guess. not really we want scunny to win otherwise sheff wed will be on equal points with us
Cheese Me Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 Southampton - 2 - 0 - Bristol City Watford - 2 - 1 - Coventry S****horpe - 1 - 1 - Shef Wed Norwich - 2 - 0 - Burnley Colchester - 2 - 0 - Ipswich Southampton winning really bad news, I'm depending on them to keep slipping up Pleased about Cov, especially as it was a lte (ish) winner Scunny are surely down so didn't really want them giving Wednesday a point Norwich have hit 52 points and probably pulled themselves safe now Not bothered about Colchester, they're gone Blackpool pl 41 - 50 Cov - pl 42 - 49 Southamption - pl 42 - 49 Leicester - pl 42 - 47 Shef Wed - pl 41 - 47 Barnsley - pl 40 - 46 Scunny - pl 42 - 39 Colchester - pl 42 - 36 Still really looks like being one of cov, southampton, us, Wednesday or Barnsley for the last slot but we're looking a bit precarious again. Big games this week: Tuesday - Shef U V Shef W Wednesday Watford V Barnsley Could do with and can see them both going our way then a massive must win for us against Colchester on Saturday
Staf Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 I really fear for our championship safety if we lose to Colchester i think we are definetly doomed
Joe. Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 Still 5 teams there well in with a shout of relegation. When all teams have played their games in hand I can see it being us in that bottom three

Leicester Lass Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 Who do Barnsley play? Their two games in hand are Watford away and Hull at home.

Joe. Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 And you think they'll get anything from them? I don't. God knows in this division.
Leicester Lass Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 God knows in this division. Exactly. Not many would've seen Southampton getting anything today
Joe. Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 Looking at Barnsley's remaining fixtures I'd be inclined to tip them for the drop. But then again like I said before, this division is so unpredictable.
dandannieldanok Posted 5 April 2008 Posted 5 April 2008 We've got away with it in terms of Wednesday only drawing, having listened to the game on BBC radio sheffield on the way up today, it sounded as though they dominated the 2nd half and wasted lots of chances.
