Ric Flair Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 Lee Hendrie will save this season. He'll save it because he's a winner. It would absolutely kill him to suffer a relegation and that's at a club that he's not really got any affiliation for. I'm absolutely convinced that Lee Hendrie will drag this shower through the next 4 games and we'll stay unbeaten. It's time for them all to be men, but there's no question who will be leading the fight. I don't like pinning all my hopes on one player, but if there's one man who will sort this out, it's that horrible little bastard Lee Hendrie. I absolutely love him. Lee, fire them up for Saturday. Get behind 'em. This is going to be scary, but Hendrie will sort it.

hairy Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 I want to believe in anything at the moment so I'm with on this one
Fat Ron Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 Could not agree more! Hendrie should be captain as far as Im concerned. Kisnorbo needs to concentrate on his own game, Clem is injured and shit and we have no other out and out leaders in the squad. Whats more, Hendrie knows he is playing for his future and career, something the other useless ****wits need to realise
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 I was very impressed with how Hendrie reacted to his goal against S****horpe - it really was important to him and the way he ran to the fans and after the match he went all round the ground and clapped the fans. I'd make him Captain on Saturday.

shen Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 Yup, Hendrie, Stears and Hume to lift us out of this mess. Please!
Ric Flair Posted 10 April 2008 Author Posted 10 April 2008 Yup, Hendrie, Stears and Hume to lift us out of this mess. Please! It's time he returned up front and scored his first hat-trick for us. I don't think we'd be in this mess if Holloway had got him and Howard performing up front together. The amount of games we haven't scored in, I just couldn't see that being the case with Hume up front with someone who can hold the ball up for him to then run on to. Makes me sick.

I agree with you and Hume, it was perfectly clear that Hume is wasted on the wing and he does't want to play on the wing. To me, the Hume-Howard, Small-Big combination would work really well.

Sadly its probably the reason we are in this mess, in that Hendrie is the only man with any fire in his belly. The obvious passion left this club a long time ago. The ones that do have passion seem to let their sulks come first. Even interviews with most of our players is like listening to someone who has just buried a friend. I was laughing when Charlton took McCarthy off our hands. After watching some of his recent "gutsy" and "passionate" performances maybe I was wrong to.

Okay, Kisnorbo, Mcauley and BRUUUUUNNNNO aren't the most passionate but without them we wouldn't have the defensive record we have now.

Its not since he's not been playing when you realise how much you miss him, because fryatt has been plain awful.

I'm sure Laczko is dying to get another crack too...

After watching some of his recent "gutsy" and "passionate" performances maybe I was wrong to. I watched his recent gutsy & passionate attempt to mark Sylvian Ebanks-Blake, that worked out well, Ebanks-Blake only scored 2 after turning him inside out both times Hendrie has the vision & range of passing to put Hume in enough positions to score a bagful, provided Humey is up front & not missing sitters like against Brizzle (I think)

Trouble is you drive the team from the back - our back is passionless and couldn't pass wind (Bruno excepted there). They wait for relegation - not fight to avoid it.

One thing McCarthy does is wind up the players around him. My point was Hendrie is the "only" person who does that for us.
shen Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 Trouble is you drive the team from the back - our back is passionless and couldn't pass wind (Bruno excepted there). Stearman does seem to care - in his quiet way. Hume - well. Passionate yes - but sulker more. Winds himself up - but noone else.
stevec Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 McCarthy wasn't exactly revered for his sublime passing skills... You're clutching at straws. I think you are mixing my two sentences. I never claimed McCarthy was a great passer of the ball - just that he has shown some fight at Charlton. As per our league position our fight has been non existant all season. We our probably still better off without him - I just wish someone in our back line showed some real spirit and fight.
mancunianfox Posted 10 April 2008 Posted 10 April 2008 Holloway has said previously that he thinks Hume and Howard is the best partnership up front yet he has played them together only once (though please correct me if I am wrong). This was at home against Coventry. They are the only two proven goalscorers we have so they should be played together up front. We need one team for the remaining four games and we need to stop changing things around so much.

We need one team for the remaining four games and we need to stop changing things around so much. If hes got any sense he would go with that. I put down Hayles and Hume up front, because Barry can't do much wrong for me, he might not be the greatest performer or with the highest ability but my word he trys and never gives up. Which unfortunately Howard, Fryatt, Hume and Deej have all done. Thinking about it i would play Howard and Hume. This is your chance Humey, you love yourself too much but now it is time to become a hero and get us out of this mess.

The fact that we've still got the second best (or is that joint best?!) defensive record in the league and two very enthusiastic and committed fullbacks suggests that defense isn't, and never has been this season, a problem. The only thing we've been missing from the back is a few more goals that Kisnorbo and McAuley have usually delivered in past seasons. I laughed when Connolly got sold for £3 mil, but my God how I wish we had a striker of his ability in our squad right now!!
