jerakin Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Took a sad look at the table just now. I for one was against City hiring Warnock. Anyone think we missed an opportunity? I know He's a right tosspot, but He would have been our tosspot.
General lee Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Yeah but remember its not the manager its the players

General lee Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 We could probably have had Paul Ince too and he seems to be doing alright. Yes in league 2 I'm sure Peter Taylor won that before ... Quick get him knighted.
Staf Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I dont like Warnock but hes a quality manager i wouldnt mind him being appointed here if he does aswell as he has done with Palace
Ozwin Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 He's not a bad manager, but he bases his teams on being dirty scum. I read somewhere from an ex player of his, how he used to ask him to two foot players and he promoted elbows and stuff which I thought was a bit sick. I don't know if I'd want an un-sportsmanlike team tbh.
Daggers Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 We could probably have had Paul Ince too and he seems to be doing alright. Apart from Ince totally ruling himself out?
dandannieldanok Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 There is no guarantee he would have done well here, but I'm sure we wouldn't be in the mess we are if he had been appointed.

Thracian Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Yes in league 2 I'm sure Peter Taylor won that before ... Quick get him knighted. Devalue him all you like, pal. Ince has achieved things in football all his life. I could just imagine him bringing some of the flacid pricks we've signed this season. And not knowing how to go out and win games with his background. Who, I ask you, would need special experience to improve on Leicester's record anyway?
tartanowl Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 It pains me to say it being a Wednesdayite but Colin is a very good manager at this level. You would have been much better off with him than Holloway.
Simi Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I've always wanted Warnock here. But our awesome fans decided he wasn't welcome here.
Webbo Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I've always wanted Warnock here. But our awesome fans decided he wasn't welcome here. Like we had any say in the matter.

Who, I ask you, would need special experience to improve on Leicester's record anyway? so did Bryan Robson shall we take him , if we talk about achevement then its a very similar career. Robson turned out to be a shit manager something i hope does not happen to Ince cause i like the guy but Ince till has a long way to go , lets see how league 1 goes for him . good luck to him
Simi Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Like we had any say in the matter. So when Mandaric decided not to hire him because of the amount of e-mails he received from fans telling them we didn't want him. That didn't effect anything?
Webbo Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 So when Mandaric decided not to hire him because of the amount of e-mails he received from fans telling them we didn't want him. That didn't effect anything? People didn't want Martin Allen to be sacked but he was. No body wanted Smegson to get the job but he did .
Simi Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 People didn't want Martin Allen to be sacked but he was. No body wanted Smegson to get the job but he did . I'm almost 100% sure that Mandy came out and said he wouldn't go for Warnock because of the fans reaction. The Megson story came up overnight and we didn't have much chance to react.

The Megson story came up overnight and we didn't have much chance to react. Yep, he did. Mandaric came out and said that he didn't go for Warnock because of the high reaction he got from the fans. Personally I was never against Warnock coming here unlike the very vast majority of others. But I was also happy with the Holloway appointment and I still hope he's here at the end of the season regardless of what happens here. But it's hindsight, and we really don't know whether Warnock would have made a difference here so it's all a bit pointless really.

renards Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Decent manager. Always thought he spoke a lot of crap and seemed to on a mission to be detested by fans throughout. However, came across like a breath of fresh air in his last interveiw I saw. I think Hollow has taken Colins crown
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Warnock has benefitted from an unusually thriving youth system at the moment. Holloway was prepared to play the kids too, but Ashley Chambers never looked as ready as Victor Moses has this season. It's also a very good demonstration of why you should never bow to populism, particularly when the people involved are football fans.
Dames Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I might hate the guys guts but looking back on it now, Hiring him might not have been such a bad thing to do.

A mate of mine masturbates daily over that Bostock lad as well. Some of those Palace youngsters are going to be pretty special.
ayeupmeduck Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 hey, does anybody know where to get an MP3 of the monday night phone in?
SamL Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Warnock has been pretty lucky that he's had such great youth players that are ready and willing to be played. I don't think any other manager will have done any better. We've just been pretty unlucky I think. I think the problems started last summer when Martin Allen was here. He thought the best thing to do was to buy in bulk but not many quality players. He though that if he just bought a lot of players they would gel instantly, but they didn't. Another manager has come and gone, whilst Holloway has stayed. He's bought in even more new signings and the team still hasn't gelled together. Ollie's constantly changing his team and tactics and we haven't gelled. Ollie has just made too many mistakes, I think he'll put them right if he's given time.
