BoneHead. Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I don't know about everyone else but im shocked that Fabregas has won Young Player Of The Year, for me Ashley Young, David Bentley and Gabriel Agbonlahor have had much better season then Cesc It looks to me as though if you play for a "big" club and are constantly in the papers you win these awards...they are not performance based at all
Corky Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I don't know about everyone else but im shocked that Fabregas has won Young Player Of The Year, for me Ashley Young, David Bentley and Gabriel Agbonlahor have had much better season then CescIt looks to me as though if you play for a "big" club and are constantly in the papers you win these awards...they are not performance based at all Same here mate, Young has been superb this year, so has Michael Johnson for Man City. But, like you say, they don't play for a "boring 4" club so they won't win it.
TrickyTrev Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Cesc was absaloutely superb in the first half of the season, of course he deserved to win it.
DB11 Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 But the voting was done just before Arsenal's 'blip' in form, when Cesc was unstoppable!!
James. Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 How can you be "shocked" that one of the best young players in the world has been voted by the players as the best young player this season? He has been at the heart of everything good Arsenal have done this season. He is an incredible player.
Head Honcho Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I don't get it If Ronaldo wins best player award surely he should have won the young player award!
Joe. Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I don't get it If Ronaldo wins best player award surely he should have won the young player award! Didn't he win both last season? It is a bit odd yes, but I guess that they just didn't want to give him both this season
Tommy G Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I don't know about everyone else but im shocked that Fabregas has won Young Player Of The Year, for me Ashley Young, David Bentley and Gabriel Agbonlahor have had much better season then CescIt looks to me as though if you play for a "big" club and are constantly in the papers you win these awards...they are not performance based at all I agree. No doubt that fabregas is a massive talent but the fact he plays for Arsenal has helped him winning the award. # Ronaldo should still qualify for that award though shouldn't he? they way he's played he deserves every single accolade he is available to be selected for.
Finnegan Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Just all ignore my thread then. Hmph. What thread?
The People's Hero Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Personally I'd have gone for C. Ronaldo, Fabregas or Ashley Young.
DB11 Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 What thread? (If you meant it as a joke and weren't serious)
sdb Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Fabregas dictates the (awesome) way that arsenal play. correct desicion
Fat Ron Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 In truth, I couldnt give a monkeys... Whats more, Beswick wasnt even nominated so Thracian isnt interested either so its a pointless award
Finnegan Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008  (If you meant it as a joke and weren't serious) Uh, what? Do I have to explain everything mildly witty and / or amusing to you two or three teams to keep you up to speed? I deleted his thread.
Uncle Albert Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Load of shit these awards are. Ronaldo should surely of won both awards, but if they only want to give him one award surely Fernando Torres should have got the 'Young Player of the Year' award. Team of the year was a complete joke aswell. No David Bentley at right wing. Ronaldo should of been in team of the year as a striker not a winger.
Fox You Forest Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 One Villa player and no Everton players was the most shocking thing to me. Fuller in the Chapmionship team also?
DB11 Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Uh, what?Do I have to explain everything mildly witty and / or amusing to you two or three teams to keep you up to speed? I deleted his thread. I thought you knew his thread existed and were taking the piss saying what thread when you knew.
Simi Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008  at Team of the Season. I think it contains 9 players from the big four. Pathetic.
sdb Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 One Villa player and no Everton players was the most shocking thing to me.Fuller in the Chapmionship team also? what's wrong with that? Bentley, Lescott and Barry should probably have made the prem XI but you can't complain too much about the selection - although i'm guessing Gerrard was probably in it (forgotten already) which is a bit silly imo cause he's not been at his best consistantly this year
Corky Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I know we have been awful this season, but surely McAuley or Kisnorbo deserved to get in ahead of Danny Shittu?
Brainy Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I know we have been awful this season, but surely McAuley or Kisnorbo deserved to get in ahead of Danny Shittu? I presume he's only got in their for his goalscoring record.
Corky Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 I presume he's only got in their for his goalscoring record. Well it can't be for his defending, and Kisnorbo has scored a few this year.
WetFlannel Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 Well it can't be for his defending, and Kisnorbo has scored a few this year. Kisnorbo hasn't come close to his tally from last season.
