Super Arj Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has begun his overhaul at Wolves after letting Gary Breen leave and putting five others up for sale. McCarthy is looking to reshape his squad for next season after narrowly missing out on reaching the play-offs this term. Former Sunderland defender Breen will leave Molinexux on a free transfer after being informed his contract would not be renewed. Jay Bothroyd, Rob Edwards, Stephen Elliot, Darren Potter and Darren Ward have all been placed on the transfer list, joining Freddy Eastwood in the shop window. McCarthy admits he has decided to let the six move on so that he free up space for planned summer additions. "We want to make some changes and freshen things up, so we need to generate places for new players by transfer listing some of the squad," McCarthy told the club's official website. "These players themselves will want regular first-team football to develop their own careers." One player staying at Molineux is defender Jody Craddock after the club took up the option to extend his contract by a further year and they are also in talks with Michael Gray about a new deal.
Super Arj Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 if we sell howard ( hopefully we do ) Jay Bothroyd is a very suitable replacement hes 6'3, and he can definately score more than shitty howard

I would take Breen and Bothroyd.
Ultra Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 if we sell howard ( hopefully we do )Jay Bothroyd is a very suitable replacement hes 6'3, and he can definately score more than shitty howard You sure about that? Bothroyd's never been very prolific, whichever club he's played for..
00rawat Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 I would love it if we got Bothroyd. He would do us nicely.
Mr Happy Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 What about Eastwood? Didn't everybody prefer him to DJ or Mcleod at the beginning of last season and would they still take him now??
Father Ted Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 You sure about that? Bothroyd's never been very prolific, whichever club he's played for.. He's not the most proven striker but could easily score in League 1. He blows hot and cold.
Super Arj Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 You sure about that? Bothroyd's never been very prolific, whichever club he's played for.. he definatley does howard for pace and finishing, hes like Kaleb Folan... we should get him quite cheap
lildave3 Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 Bothroyd has a mean left foot, but i'm not sure what else he possesses. Man that's a lot of S's.
Ultra Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 He's not the most proven striker but could easily score in League 1. He blows hot and cold. So nothing like what we already have, then?... Gary Breen might be worth a punt, though. He's only 34 and could do OK as cover for us while Kisnorbo recovers.

BRING IN FRREDDIE
Ultra Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 I doubt he'd move down to League 1, plus he'd cost more money than MM will want to fork out.
teblin Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 Huckerby(Norwich) Wotton Nalis Hodges Chadwick (All Plymouth) He could do a job in league 1, still looked good enough for the champ when he played down here last season, Might be use full to have an old head along side king and weso if clem and oakley leave.
Vennegoor10 Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 I can see us signing Nick Chadwick. Wouldn't mind that really, depends on outgoing playersI suppose. Huckerby won't drop down a league, neither will Eastwood I thought the general concensus on here was that we should ship out the journeymen, Nalis is therfore a non mercy.
dandannieldanok Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 I can see us signing Nick Chadwick. Hope not, we've got enough strikers that have failed miserably in the Championship and we don't need another.
FleckneyFox Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Ipswich have released:- Sito Gavin Williams Gary Roberts Dan Harding Matt Richards and Billy Clarke Any of them could do the job in League 1.
teblin Posted 15 May 2008 Posted 15 May 2008 Ipswich have released:-Sito Gavin Williams Gary Roberts Dan Harding Matt Richards and Billy Clarke Any of them could do the job in League 1. don't know much about Clarke but the other could def do a job.

With Clapham gone, Mattock potentially being sold and Sheehan unlikely to stay because he simply doesn't want to, we could really do with signing Harding or Richards. Wouldn't mind Gavin Williams to run up and down the wing either.

Jonezy Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 Seriously, there must be some gems around these released players. Also they must have some serious motivation to prove themselves.
Vennegoor10 Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Bolton release Teymourian, Stelios and Campo. High wages demands from latter two so I would say not possible and could be a gamble but might be worth looking into Teymourian? Probably go to the Champo I know but can't do too much harm to throw our hat into the ring.

I seriously doubt whether any of them would batter an eyelid at an offer from League One and we'd be simply wasting precious time chasing them.
iancognito Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 It's not just transfer listed or released players we need to look at. A lot of the promising kids from the prem end up in League One to get first team football and a lot of them sign on for a year before signing permanently. An old head or two would be great but getting a 19 year old talent taking the piss out of third division defences would be better.
