David Guiza Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 After talking to an ex-City academy player who is still close to Stearman, he wants out. So let him go. Tbh when we drew 2 colchester i thought he was the only one who seemed to really care and the same when we down at Stoke
Tommy G Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Where they go is irrelevant because we know they will leave us this summer. Exactly. They will both go, I would like to see them both at Villa as MON is a great manager and will be good for their development. Stearman put his all into it this season so i can't blame him for wanting to get out in terms of his career development. Neither of those players will benefit from a season in League one.
Maybes Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Exactly. They will both go, I would like to see them both at Villa as MON is a great manager and will be good for their development. Neither of those players will benefit from a season in League one.
El_Thief Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 stearman will probaly go and mattock aswell but with mattock we mite get him back on a years loan depending where he goes to give him more first team football as he only a young lad
Father Ted Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 I've just been thinking and I've realised that if I was manager, even if it was Stearman or Hume, if they don't want to play for the club anymore then let them go. We need players who want to play for the club!
Matt Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Didn't know whether to make a new thread or not so thought i'd chuck it in here anyway; £1.5m Mattock move?By Robert Alexander - 18/05/2008 10:50 GARY MEGSON looks set to raid his former club Leicester City to land England under-21 international Joe Mattock. The teenager is expected to leave Leicester this summer following their relegation to League One and has also attracted the attention of Aston Villa and West Ham. Mattock can operate on the left side of midfield or in defence and is known to have impressed Megson while he was in charge of the Foxes. Megson is keen to strengthen his squad to ensure that the club do not find themselves in another relegation battle.

CupidStunt Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 loyalty counts for nothing no more, and money talks both of them have years left in front of them, and i see no reason why they should want to leave In my mind,if i was one of those leicester players and "passionate" of leicester as some make out, they why should i want leave?,unless its for money?..afterall,its about playing football right? I doubt they would be quick to jump ship,if the club offering them a deal elsewhere, were offering less money? But they should,as they be will quoted "i had to leave as i wanted to progress"...blah blah,de fooking blah, load of bollox makes me so cross, these players took us down, and they should be made to stay and try and get us back up asap,no excuses its not as if they are world class, and are going to walk straight into first team football they will end up like the rest of the money grabbing losers, sent out on loan "to get some experience",and then after that, sold onto to another mug club, for more money,or left on the scrapheap If they know whats good for them, they should stick around. mandarich, keep hold of them unless they dont want to play for us anymore,in which case they can fook off and die,and suck a dead dogs dick

Thats beside the point, but I think YOU would do exactly the same if you were in their position. Both have a chance to play for the country in the future especially Mattock, they won't do that if they're are stuck in League One. Plus they're likely to be on 2/3k a week at LCFC. It's easy to babble on about loyalty and all that shit, but if you were in their position would you turn down an easily quadrupled salary by moving to a prem club?? I think not. I won't blame them if they leave

TBH money at the end of the day would be a crucial part of the players move but you only have to look at League One - Or Premiership, No matter how passionate, loyal, committed, or how much they want to play for us, or love the club, they have to do whats right for them, and their career, as Tommy has said their both potential England players and their not going to be playing for England and getting the recognition they deserve playing in League One and perhaps even the Championship. I have slagged Stearman off alot this season, he has been good at times and has come good towards the end of the season, but Villa would certainly be a great move for both, Mattock to Bolton - I'd have to think long and hard about that, He knows of Megson from his brief spell at Leicester (He may have liked Megson alot), but I can see Bolton in another relegation battle next season, would this be that much of a great move?
LcFc D3C Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Anywhere near Bolton by any chance? no he was at holmes park in whetstone, leicester

It may end tomorrow witn an injury. So they have every right to make as much money as possible. Also loyalty is a two way streak. If a player is not good enough for this club, then fans let it be known. So when a team is not good enough for him!!!!
CupidStunt Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 I think i would turn it down, not every footballer has the ambition to play for a bigger club, and some still show loyalty and want to play for the club the supposedly love and adore, not many these days i agree as times have changed,as greed has crept into it. you reckon they will get first team action? and not sent out on loan? I suppose best case scenario would be for use to rake in the money and sell, and they get sent back in on loan to us. As for them having to make as much money as possible during there career because its a short one...damn i forgot, they cant do a normal job like the rest of us and carry on working in a different field they can always open a bar or kebab house i guess
Soar Fox Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Anywhere near Bolton by any chance? He was in Manchester on saturday night celebrating his birthday maybe he went too Bolton earlier in the day?
moseeds Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 TBH both Mattock and Stearman deserve moves, especially Stearman. He is our current longest serving player AFAIK. Stearman has given everything but was let down by everyone else around him. As a local boy it would be nice to see him strut his stuff in front of a bigger more challenging environment. He also needs guidance from better players which face it, isn't going to happen at city for atleast 2 or 3 more seasons.

Ive seen alot of people on here praising Stearman this season and im sorry i dont see how people can still praise him. As far as im concerned he as been as piss poor as the rest of them. I went to pretty much every home game last season and he has shown me absolutely nothing in terms of him being one of our best if not our best player this season. He forever gives the ball away in my opinion, his crosses are poor and i just dont know where the praise comes from. Maybe im just not seeing what the rest are!
Vardinhio Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 Because he's young and English and a homegrown player he gets a lot more chances than others in the side. The sooner people realise that at the minute we need players for Now and not the future the better we'll be.

But didn't Stearman win Player of the Season? So surely he's not a player for the future anymore, and is more or less considered a first team regular. Mattock on the other hand, has broken into the first team this season and shown potential to be a fantastic footballer, not only to us but to a lot of other football clubs and to even national coaches. So why get rid of a talent, who is probably good enough now anyways. Both players do have potentially quality futures ahead, but both players are good enough for the Leicester City first team at the moment.

A somewhat short sighted take on things, football teams evolve and need to be continually fed with new young players. If done correctly you would hardly notice a team evolving over the years as the old ones drop out and new younger players feed in at the bottom. If we went your way and I guess that's what we've been doing you'd have to have a completely new team every few years.
