Well, swapping Gradel and Ash Chambers would be a good start. Apart from that, it's not bad. Room for improvement though.
Ashley Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 I wouldnt like that team to be playing week in week out. There is alot of room for improvement we will hopefully be in the transfer market in the summer and some players have said they are staying so we'll have to wait and see. 33Days untill the fixtures come out I think.

Agree you need to swap Gradel and Chambers. Other than that I'd rather see Worley, Sheehan and King tbh
Ashley Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Ash? Can it really be? I know i'm so excitied I carnt wait, Hereford away please

N'Gotty won't be here next season, Kisnorbo will either be out for half the season or gone to another club. Only a slim chance that we'll still have Clemence, Howard, Weso and Gradel. Time for a re-think. Sorry.
morris1234 Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 ok then lets say stearman, mattock, mcauley, hume, dj, clemence, oakley and bruno leave. along with the other dead wood - kish, maybury etc kisnorbo will be out for a few months, lets then say (obviously slim chance of happening) sign ant gerrard, dean cox, chris zebroski, david bell and liam dickinson and myabe another cb. i would ecstatic to have a team like that but i can dream!1 ................henderson................. chambers worley gerrard sheehan gradel wesolowski king d.cox ............dickinson fryatt.............. subs: steve howard david bell levi porter ash chambers ryan beswick lee cox mattock sappleton rowe-turner

Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 I don't think there's a single player other than Worley who we can guarantee will be here next season. The most likely are Henderson, Porter and Fryatt. After that, it's anyone's guess for various reasons.
Chimp Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Optimism strong on here then... Nope, just apathetic realism. That is, assume the worst is going to happen and there's fook all you can do about it.
Legend_in_blue Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Do you honestly expect a host of championship clubs to come in for our players? Well I guess the championship is crap and so are half our squad - so you could say they make a good match. If they do come knocking - fleece 'em for as much as they've got. The lot of them.

mancunianfox Posted 15 May 2008 Posted 15 May 2008 If we could keep hold of just a couple of our better players I would like to see a line up along the lines of: Henderson Chambers Worley Stearman © Sheehan Gradel Wesolowski Oakley Bell Fryatt Campbell I'd also look for Logan, King, Chambers, Sappleton, Beswick, Rowe-Turner, Porter to be part of the squad. I wouldn't mind us signing a couple of players as long as they are influential players that their clubs don't really want to part with. Gerrard is a good a shout and would help us out with the defence as Stearman will most probably leave this summer.
Ric Flair Posted 15 May 2008 Posted 15 May 2008 The thing is, we need to create a team that can go up and then do well in the Championship, tall order. But the team we've got at the moment has failed miserably in the Championship and there needs to be big changes either personnel wise or mentally. I don't believe that just because this club has been relegated, every single player must go, it's not quite got to that stage yet. But we have certain players here who have under performed or have been involved in relegation battles with us for several seasons and surgery needs to be done for a new beginning. I'd like to leave that to the manager, but sadly, i'm not confident our current manager is capable of making the correct decision on the way forward. The only player that is irreplacable for me next season is Maxi Gradel. Even Iain Hume, I accept is replacable to a certain extent. Gradel could be top class and the only other players we have who could sniff that standard (Mattock & Stearman) will be gone in the summer anyway.

Gradel will only do well for us next season if we play to his strengths. I've said before that if a player's good enough then their quality will show (to a certain extent) no matter who they have playing alongside them, but Gradel will need to be used correctly otherwise he won't be able to perform as well as it appears he has done for Bournemouth. He's shown that he can be a threat in League One so in theory he should do even better for us next season but I'm not 100% sure he will do. I don't think he'll be given as much responsibility and freedom here as he was given at Bournemoth and that will frustrate him a great deal from what I've seen before. I hope I'm wrong though

I hope I'm wrong though I think the lad's game has transformed dramatically since going to Bournemouth, i've watched him for the reserves and youth team and also seen him for Bournemouth and you can tell that he's stepped it up big time. But you're right, if we play like we did this season then Gradel will get frustrated and we wouldn't do him justice. Get the ball out wide to him on the deck and he'll be devastating.
