Tilley Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 or two weeks in mine DOH! That takes us to June! He's out.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 Would not surprise me if GM at Leeds did not come in the reckoning at some point Do believe he still lives in the Coalville area
reynard Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 If he hasn't made up his mind by now, what can happen in the next month to change it? He's seen Holloway manage the team over thirty games, enough to form an opinion about him, the players are now on their hols, Holloway is in limbo and there is nothing that can happen over the next 3/4 weeks to make Holloway better or worse. The only possibility is that he's got a new man in mind who's involved in the play-offs at the minute (or maybe it's Avram Grant?!?)Make the decision, Milan and stop p!ssing the fans around, after 4 years of paying to watch complete sh!te on the pitch we deserve better. He's not going to rush. Things take time especially at this time of the season. Players and managers are weighing up their options and there may be someone out there who Milan would like to speak to but is not able to until June. Avram Grant is I believe a friend of Milan who brought to help out at Portsmouth. If he was sacked by Chelsea than an approach may not be out of the question. As he looks like a gravedigger he would be appropriate for our club.
reynard Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Would not surprise me if GM at Leeds did not come in the reckoning at some point Do believe he still lives in the Coalville area No chance especially if Leeds go up. He has more affinity with them than us.
Father Ted Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 I've been thinking and maybe MM is just scouting for a new manager now. And all this 'until June' is all rubbish. Just what I think.
Candidcamera Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Tony Adams ? Looks like he is considering his future... someone else said that recently.
prince maurice Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 A liitle birdy tells me the reason for the delay is due to Holloway's contract. A written in clause is that his wages would reduce if relegated, a wage reduction which is activated in June. Therefore any severance deal would be calculated on his contractual reduced wages as of June and not what he is paid in May (still technically Championship rates!). So basically MM is trying to save a few quid.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Tony Adams ? Looks like he is considering his future... someone else said that recently. I could see Adams here, and, I think he'd be able to do a reasonable job. Unexperienced though. What about the Rochdale manager, Keith Hill, if we are going to go with an up and coming manager? Still, he is also inexperienced.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Ian Holloway has refused to resign as Leicester boss leaving owner Milan Mandaric to decide whether he deserves the sack after the club dropped into League One. (Sun) From the BBC Gossip page, not sure how much relevance it bears but I thought I'd post it anyway.
ibbosuk Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Agree with everything, soon as Ollie goes. I will buy a season ticket. So will I... (GURU SAYS: its the "Glasweigen Atom" that will take over)

Unexperienced though. What about the Rochdale manager, Keith Hill, if we are going to go with an up and coming manager? Still, he is also inexperienced. He was awful at Wycombe. Seemed to destroy a good up and coming team. Definitely, definitely, definitely not interested.
Candidcamera Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 The Pompey defence looked pretty good today. He is a few years older now.

Fox You Forest Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Was that before or after his experience at Portsmouth under the tutilege of Joe Jordan and Harry Redknapp? Did Steve McClaren fail with England before or after his experience at Man Utd under the tutilege of Sir Alex Ferguson? Works both ways (I only used McClaren as a reference dont bite me Mr.Flair)

(Sun) From the BBC Gossip page, not sure how much relevance it bears but I thought I'd post it anyway. How do they know he was asked to resign? Either way how could the tosser REFUSE, worst manager we've had for a long time, he should go and hang his head in shame. Oh! Forget he get's a nice wad of cash if MM sacks him. Just shows where his loyalties lie, it's not Leicester City, it's his bloody wallett.
breadandcheese Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Tony Adams ? Looks like he is considering his future... someone else said that recently. Yeah, that was me and I got vilified for it, although I still think he may be worth a gamble. By Adam's own admission, it was too early for him at Wycombe, although he did make the odd good signing (Nathan Tyson). There was a good article in the Sunday Times last week looking at his ambitions and the leg work he's put in since his time at Wycombe. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle3908401.ece Personally, I think there's a decent list of potential managers who would do a decent job for us. I don't buy all the cr*p that there isn't anyone decent, it's just that there are no big management names who would want to come. I've still got my list of potential managers (in no particular order), any one of which I'd be happy with. Paul Lambert Mike Newell Steve Tilson Tony Adams Dave Penney Simon Grayson - a new addition straight in there after today's press rumours. I didn't think he'd drop down a league, but if he feels he's taken Blackpool as far as he can, maybe he'd think about a move to a club with bigger potential, albeit starting from a lower base.

I think a lot of people would be pissed off if, having got us relegated, he walked away. I prefer the fact that he wants to right what he has done wrong. MM waiting to make this decision is doing no good for the club at all. We all have an idea of who we want, but surely whoever this is, they need a full summer. Make the decision now, get rid of the uncertainty and give us some direction.
Scow Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle3908401.ece Very interesting article. Gives a good insight in to his impact at Portsmouth. At least he's explained why things went wrong at Wycombe. He may become a good manager, but I wouldn't want to take that gamble. We do need someone with experience at this level, and hopefully have the potential to push us on. Still think someone like Dave Penney could do that.

Still six weeks to go before pre-season training starts. No manager will be able to do much before then. I'd rather see the chairman take some time over a new appointment and get it right than see him act in haste and make another fcuk-up.

He carries himself with such an imposing air, it's like being in a room with Darth Vader - none of the players would **** with him. He has an outstanding knowledge of man management now, an encyclopaedic knowledge of players and more friends than Facebook. He really would be a brilliant move.

Candidcamera Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 I agree. I actually got excited when I thought about it. He may be good for us and win us all over.
