RedHux Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 "Escape from Derbynil" Paul Jewell brought new meaning to the transfer window last night when Marseille-bound defender Tyrone Mears had to crawl past the manager's office to collect his boots after defying his manager's orders not to go.Paul Jewell In an incredible incident at the club's training ground yesterday, Mears had to sneak in through a window to collect his boots after Jewell told him to ignore chairman Adam Pearson's instructions to head for Marseille on loan. Jewell claimed he had not seen a fax from Marseille - who were drawn to play Liverpool, PSV Eindhoven and Atletic Madrid in the Champions League yesterday - offering the former Preston and West Ham full-back the opportunity of a lifetime. Mears went to the club secretary, picked up the fax from Marseille and took it to Jewell's office to try to push through one of the summer's most unlikely transfers. But despite permission from Pearson to leave for Birmingham Airport, Jewell told the defender that he had to stay. After another call to Pearson, the defender climbed in through an open window at the training ground, sneaked past Jewell's office and collected his boots before driving to the airport to catch a flight to Marseille. Koke Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Things are looking dark for the sheeps. And Pearson and Jewell are starting to get on each other's tits it seems. May it long continue. Amen.
RedHux Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Surely he could've stumped up the cash for a new pair? The're club's in a shocking state.......It's great!
RedHux Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 I really can't see truth in that. Press association say he's in the brown stuff
Koke Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 The fact that the sheeps are in deep shit, both on the field and behind the scenes is just hilarious.
Joe. Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Press association say he's in the brown stuff Yeah, it's the part about him sneaking through a window to get his boots that I don't buy into.
Joe. Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Perhaps he really really liked them.. Either way, this is still hilarious.
Joe. Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Aston Villa Sign Milner Good signing for them, although he's not come cheap at £10m.
Tilley Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Aston Villa Sign MilnerGood signing for them, although he's not come cheap at £10m. Steep price. Once again, MON goes for British players. Fair play to him.
Koke Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Over-****ing-priced. You can get a foreign equivalent of Milner for three-quarter of that price.
Tommeh Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Milners a ****, on £30k a week, demands £60k or hes off. Fair play to Keegan in my opinion, stand up to these greedy waynekers, he's not even that good. There really is no such thing as loyalty in football these days.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Milners a ****, on £30k a week, demands £60k or hes off. There really is no such thing as loyalty in football these days. Where did you get those figures from?
Tilley Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 How much are Everton paying for Louis Saha? Because he is extremely injury prone.
Tommeh Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Where did you get those figures from? Said it in the telegraph (reliable family newspaper) about a week ago, with Martins, Duff and I think it was Barton all being on bewtween 50 and 60k p/w he wanted to join them and threatened with a transfer request. Keegan probably wasn't bothered and it just said on SSN that it was his decision to let him go.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Milner is still young no? There's definately time for him to develop but £10M does seem awfully steep. I said that about Ashley Young though. Then again, the Villa fans seemed to rate him in his previous spell there and if anyone can get the best out of players it's O' Neill.
lildave3 Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Big move for Milner. Gonna be a couple of massive seasons for him. Good signing, but like others have said, 10 million is steep. Although my Villa supporting teacher says he's worth every penny
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Said it in the telegraph (reliable family newspaper) about a week ago, with Martins, Duff and I think it was Barton all being on bewtween 50 and 60k p/w he wanted to join them and threatened with a transfer request.Keegan probably wasn't bothered and it just said on SSN that it was his decision to let him go. Nope, never heard of it.

Fair enough, I thought you were just plucking them out of thin air! If you ignore the sums involved you can understand he'd be peeved that players that he's on a par with at Newcastle are earning twice as much. Then you realise that it's the difference between 30k and 60k a week. Hmmm...
Tilley Posted 31 August 2008 Posted 31 August 2008 Tomorrow should be interesting. With around 500 loan deals going through. & Robinho will probably join Chelsea at 23:59.
