fox123 Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Slight difference there then! Rediculous eh! See a package and that's it, bomb disposal's in, just shows what the world has come to!
Ultra Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Bomb scare i think, but aparently it was a baby monitor No, that was yesterday in the Shires. Today was centred on Charles Street, near the snooker centre. The police were cordoning off the area just before 6pm.
fox123 Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 No, that was yesterday in the Shires. Today was centred on Charles Street, near the snooker centre. The police were cordoning off the area just before 6pm. What was that the batteries to go with the monitor?
syston_fox Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 No, that was yesterday in the Shires. Today was centred on Charles Street, near the snooker centre. The police were cordoning off the area just before 6pm. It was at the haymarket bus station... Im guessing it was on one of the buses as the place was cleared apart from this one bus! Police werent saying much apart from making sure everyone stayed way way back. Second bomb scare in two days though (although this time someone has been arrested apparentley)
Ultra Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 From the BBC.. City centre sealed off by police A part of Leicester city centre has been sealed off while police deal with reports of a "suspicious package". Charles Street, Belgrave Gate and Churchgate - located near the city's two main shopping centres - have been closed by police. Leicestershire Police would not release more details. Eyewitness Ankur Desai, of Leicester, told BBC News that he had seen a man being arrested by police officers during the incident.
Tommy G Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 if it was terrorism then surely they would pick a better/busier time to blow somewhere up? Say saturday lunchtime in the shires, not a thurs evening in feckin Charles street?? Its a hoax I hope

Tommy G Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Why would anyone want to blow up Leicester anyway? Well you would Imagine it would be something along the lines of 1)London 2)Birmingham 3)Manchester 4)Any of the big shopping centres in the UK It's difficult to comment on Muslim Extremism, so I won't. Knowing my luck it would be taken the wrong way and be accused of being racist
fox123 Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Maybe, of course it it is an act of terrorism, then they are saying to the UK we don't give a fook where we bomb big or small!
Ultra Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 After the incident in Exeter last week, plod are obviously taking no chances. There's probably nothing in this, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Jon the Hat Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 It's difficult to comment on Muslim Extremism, so I won't. Knowing my luck it would be taken the wrong way and be accused of being racist How dare you assume terrorism has anything to do with Muslim extremists just because they have stooped to the depths of exploiting the mentally ill. You sir are a racialist!
Staf Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 City centre sealed off by police A part of Leicester city centre has been sealed off to allow police to deal with reports of a "suspicious package". Charles Street, Belgrave Gate and Churchgate - located near the city's two main shopping centres - were closed by police. A controlled explosion has taken place to deal with the suspicious package. Eyewitness Ankur Desai, of Leicester, said he had seen a man being arrested by police officers during the incident in the city centre. Some bystanders had to wait for more than an hour in the rain because of delays to bus service in the area.
davieG Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Why would anyone want to blow up Leicester anyway? Less security, multi-racial thus potentially causing disharmony etc.
Tommy G Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 How dare you assume terrorism has anything to do with Muslim extremists just because they have stooped to the depths of exploiting the mentally ill. You sir are a racialist! I really hope you are being sarcastic
James. Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Less security, multi-racial thus potentially causing disharmony etc. Anyone could jump on a train tomorrow, arrive in Kings Cross or Victoria or Paddington or any other large terminal and blow themselves up. Nowhere is secure from someone who is happy to kill themselves in order to kill others. And the multi-racial thing would probably be a reason not too blow up Leicester. I really don't want to descend into a political argument but given the large Muslim community in Leicester and the fact that the greatest terrorist threat is currently posed by Muslim fundamentalists it doesn't make much sense to target Leicester, does it? Anyway I'm no expert on the criteria for a bomb target so I'll stop now!
Babylon Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Why would anyone want to blow up Leicester anyway? Well the IRA did it once. I was down there at about 5.25. Just down from my bus stop (near wilkos) there was a first bus, it was facing up charles street towards the train station. It may not be related but something was kicking off on the bus. The driver was on his radio and all the passengers were at the front of the bus apart from one or two. There was a bloke as the back who was acting very animated and looked like he was shouting and arguing with someone. I was expecting the police to turn up at any moment.
Babylon Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 I really hope you are being sarcastic "racialist" Considering he said that, it's safe to say he was.
