You are right with the first bit about them mainly being unemployed and that is exactly who a lot of us have been imagining applying for the post. Moreover, one of them will get it. All this rubbish about Davies, Clarke or Gregory - we don't enter into their sphere of thinking. Everyone who was so delighted to campaign for and rejoice in the sacking of Holloway is going to be mighty pissed when the successor is announced. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Mandaric will pull a cat from the bag - but I doubt it. We are in a league where new managerial appointments are in the order of Ian Atkins and his long ball crew, I'm not expecting anything of note whatsoever.

This means the majority of appointments at this level are of Ian Atkings standard. This doesn't mean that every manager is as inept as Atkins or favours long-ball such as he...but more do. Also, it means that clubs at this level feel they have it made if they attract someone of Atkins standard. I did not say that every manager plays a game in the Atkins fashion, ...but let's pop that one on the back-burner for a minute while we look at your assertion that "a certain S. Grayson,. who has let it be known that we do enter his sphere of thinking." Care to cite that? As far as I am aware he has done nothing of the sort in the public domain.

Even Walshie's column in the paper says "I'm sure he wouldn't mind it" which you can take to mean "I've had a word with Larry and he's up for it". McLaren would count as an overseas applicant, he's gone overseas to Holland for a job, so it's plausible he'd stick his name down for it 15 days to whittle down his 20 applicants. If he doesn't get his first choice within a few days, he'll panic. A panicking Mandaric is the only thing scarier than a rational Mandaric. If he doesn't hurry up he'll be interviewing his managers from the comfort of his cell.
Head Honcho Posted 1 June 2008 Posted 1 June 2008 I'm suprised that there are 20 managers who want to manage us considering our record. Steve Walsh seems to think Sam Allardyce would be a good choice, I wouldn't mind him. "Sam Allardyce would be a good choice" is the understatement of the century! I can only usually make around half our matches but I'd buy a season ticket tomorrow if Big Sam was named our manager. Surely he's looking a bit higher then League 1?
