billyfox1 Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 It's a bull shit rule they wont enforce anyway. it happened last season. http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/2007/09/stuart_mccall_a.html
Guest Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 I would rather gamble on the long term future of this club, and rather than risk a player critical to the promotion push (ever the optimist...), I would give the youngsters a go in this competition.

We can't apparently, we have to play quite a strong side. With the way things are going, the average age of our team will be about 18.

We can, isn't it a £5,000 fine? I'd pay that if it meant we were more likely to get back into the Championship at the first attempt. If we were to miss out on promotion because of a silly injury or needless suspension from one of these games, I would be furious.

It's an up to £5000 fine. With the turn over of players at the minute it would be hard to say what is our strongest team, at least for the early rounds.

Exactly. The amount of money we've wasted this past year 5g is nothing. We'll probable save half of it by not having to pay the likes of Clemence, Oakley and Howards Apperance/Goal fees.

Floating Fox Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 I cba to trawl through - North, or South? South with BARNET :w00t:

The way our players were acting it's like they got bonuses for not scoring.
act smiley Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 South with BARNET :w00t: Barnet or Aldershot away would be pretty much the only thing that would make me want to go to a JPT game.
Ultra Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 If Franchise can go for and win a league /JPT double there's no excuse whatsoever why we shouldn't do likewise. It's as much a distraction for us as the Champions League was for Man Utd last season. Besides, I'd quite fancy a trip back to our old stamping ground next season. And I'm sure the chairman would do too!
Floating Fox Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Besides, I'd quite fancy a trip back to our old stamping ground next season. And I'm sure the chairman would do too! If your on about Wembley, then I wouldn't go. It'd be the most embarrasing day of our clubs history.
Corky Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 If your on about Wembley, then I wouldn't go. It'd be the most embarrasing day of our clubs history. I would rather be embarassed by winning the JPT than be embarrassed after being knocked out at home to Dagenham in the first round in front of 2000 people.

No because you'd get all the mongrels come out for a "Big day at wembley". If people can't see that this is micky mouse cup then they need a reality check. I just hope we get a few away games so the proper fans can have a laugh in some shed of an away end. And I think someone pointed out Peterborough will get moved if we progress to far, which would ruin one of the highlights of the season. London Road > Wembley.

Wembley is basically Hell on Earth these days. Absolute monstrosity of a place that neatly represents everything thats wrong in the sport at the minute. When I went I couldn't think of a single positive aspect. I'd still go mind. Its not a major competition, but winning everything thats possible has to be the aim, no matter how small and I'd like to be there to see it, even if it means enduring the crapness of New Wembley.
