FilboFox Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Just wondering about the rules for the competition... I know that some teams get a bye through the first round but are the teams that get one random? But at least this should be a competition that we might be able to do well in.

syston_fox Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_Trophy_2007-08this makes it a whole lot clearer on how it's structured. Check out those attendances: Forest v Posh - 3,102 Notts County v Leyton Orient - 900 Lincoln v Hartlepool - 936
AmericanScott Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Haha. Leeds had the biggest attendance for the trophy (excluding the final) with 18,000! Can we beat that?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Would we count as a northern or a southern section?
Matt Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Would we count as a northern or a southern section? Hinckley are in the Conference North if that means anything?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Hinckley are in the Conference North if that means anything? We should be in the southern section
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Forest were in the southern section this season just past, it's possible we could take their place.
FilboFox Posted 7 June 2008 Author Posted 7 June 2008 But I still don't know whether the byes handed out are random...
Matt Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 But I still don't know whether the byes handed out are random... Yes. According to this; http://www.totalfootballforums.com/forums/...mp;#entry172491 32 teams not receiving byes have been split into four geographical sections for the first round - for which the full draw is on Saturday.Once the 48 clubs were divided into northern and southern sections, a preliminary draw took place on Friday which saw eight teams from each section drawn out to receive byes.
Father Ted Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 So does anybody know yet when the draw is, we know when the Carling Cup draw is and when the fixtures are released. Anybody know?

Mickey O'Neil Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 But at least this should be a competition that we might be able to do well in. No, no no! Might as well put us down to win the league as well !! Maybe you mean 'a competition that we hope to progress in'
davieG Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 11th Augusthttp://www.football-league.co.uk/page/JTPD...,,10794,00.html Let me introduce you to Google! Except that's for 2007/8 not 2008/9.
Glenfield Fox Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Haha. Leeds had the biggest attendance for the trophy (excluding the final) with 18,000!Can we beat that? Yes with Mercury promotion, free for ST holders and kids dragged in kicking and screaming.
SamL Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Yes with Mercury promotion, free for ST holders and kids dragged in kicking and screaming. It's not going to happen. It's against FA rules to give make cup games free I believe. Considering we only got just under 7,000 against Macclesfield in the Carling Cup the season before last, I don't think the attendance will be higher than Leeds 18,000.
lavrentis Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 I think we'll get around 13000 for the Paint trophy at home fixtures. Away teams from League 2 will bring a reasonable following.
RedOnRed Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 We all had a great day out at Wembley courtesy of the Johnstone's Paint Pot Trophy final. The sort of day that doesn't come by too often but was superb.
