Fox You Forest Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 We all had a great day out at Wembley courtesy of the Johnstone's Paint Pot Trophy final. The sort of day that doesn't come by too often but was superb. You just keep that trophy safe for us.
RedOnRed Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 You just keep that trophy safe for us. For you darling, you can get your hands on it any time and i'll keep it nice and buffed up and will polish it every day. OMFG, i'm soundning like some southern Del Boy car salesman.

SamL Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 I plan to attend all JPT games. I want us to win this. It would be nice to win, but I'd rather us concentrate on getting promoted. Yes it would be nice to have a day out at Wembley but its not all it's cracked up to be.
FilboFox Posted 7 June 2008 Author Posted 7 June 2008 I'd love to win this cup too... I'll be attending all of the games I can!

Exactly, after winning the League Cup and playing in Europe less than a decade ago, I for one am in no way excited about the Paint Pot Trophy. In my opinion, we should treat it as very much a secondary issue and play the reserves/kids. The last thing we want is for such an insignficiant trinket to distract us from promotion.

We are a shit club now. A really shit club. Any honour, of any kind would do nicely thankyou very much indeed.

I understand what you're saying but I just feel that all the club's energies should be focused on promotion. Simple as that. The JPT is a Mickey Mouse cup for Mickey Mouse teams. I think we should treat it as an opportunity to blood youngsters, try players who are doing well in the reserves and just generally treat ties in the competition as being little more than friendlies.

Yeah mate, what I said was gobshite. It's just I became a fan about 6 months after the Carling Cup success. I haven't been through the good times like most fans, and so I'd appreciate a trip to Wembley without it being pressure of the Play Offs.

Automatic promotion for us all the way. Such a shame you only became a fan after the Carling Cup wins and European jaunts. They're the treasured memories that keep me going.

Such a shame you only became a fan after the Carling Cup wins and European jaunts. They're the treasured memories that keep me going. And I wasn't at the Brighton promotion game. My highlight as a fan so far is probably the cup run in 04/05 that took us to quarter finals of FA Cup. Regarding the JPT, it's a cup which we'll be one of the favourites in. And whether partly used to blood youngsters, or maybe give squad players a chance, i just think we might as well use it for something.
Daggers Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 This trophy is not recognised by the Daggers Official List of Trophies Worth Competing For - it's something for lesser teams and the reserves/youth team. If we suffer a serious injury to a team member because of this competition and it reflects on our push for promotion there'll not be one voice here to say it was worthwhile. There is only one focus this season and it isn't this piss pot competition.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 **** home games in this. What!? Surely the Walkers will be bouncing for games like this.
The Stig Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 It gets very cold in the Paint Trophy. Some teams have to put on another coat. 2.

I work with Covscum and Fo**st idiots,do you honestly think I would boast about it?...they would just laugh and I would do the same if it was them....forget it and let's concentrate on at least getting back to the Champo!

billyfox1 Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Bring on Wycombe. I know if we beat them in the final it wouldn't hurt them anywhere near as much as their win hurt us but who cares, I want revenge
Chairman of the Bored Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 The draw will be live on Soccer AM. We should play the Academy side in this, but I still want us to win it. Let's develop a winning mentality, heaven help us. Can you imagine that?!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Hey - it's a chance for us to revist our second home - Leicester's never been the same since it was knocked down!

Let's develop a winning mentality, heaven help us. Can you imagine that?! I think there is a rule saying you cannot do that. I'm not sure but think the rule is something like you must play atleast 7 of your most played players during your league games. They'd have had fun with that ruling if we were involved last season ah? What with us using 40 odd players (Or whatever the figure was) in total over the season.

I see MK Dons are there again, We just cant keep away from each other.
RedOnRed Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 That's the spirit. Getting a bit excited about the Johnstone's Paint Pot trophy (as we like to call it). Welcome to the real world in the lower leagues.
Matt Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Thing that makes me laugh is that joking (Which I don't think they are - I think their being serious) or not, people think like League One the Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be a walk in the park, something we can win by just turning up.
