Darren Moore - Gone to Barnsley

Recommended Posts

He's weight up offers between us and Bradford (so says todays Mercury). You know he's going to pick us! lol

He already lives in the Midlands and i read somewhere he doesnt really like the idea of uprooting his family and moving north, so its just a matter of time before the announcement is made that he's joined us!

Why is everyone moaning about Moore?

He will be good in this division, big beast of a centre half. So if we got him on a 1 year deal i think he'd actually be a decent signing.

His size is great but he's way, way, way too slow!

He gives away far too many free kicks as well and that sort of thing. Just think we actually do better!

We need centrebacks, so can't see why Darren Moore is such a bad idea. Yes he is slow, but we did pretty well with Mc'Turtle'Auley last season. Also he could add some experience if, as we all hope, Nige wants to play the kids.

Bring in Big Darren I say!

(I'm going to get slaughtered now, ain't I....?)

Of course you are, did you have your eyes closed last season, Moore was pathetic and got shat on by every single striker in the league. Obviously the calibre in League 1 is vastly different but Moore's uselessness cannot be ignored.

Haha, that didn't take long....

But wasn't he like a talisman for Derby, when they got promoted..... This league is a whole other ball game than the Prem, and we need some of the dirty bastards on our side....

Darren Moore will be brilliant for L1,Most teams he plays for he gets them up..

Mind you i would rather have him at Bradford,

But that isnt going to happen,Unless your mad chairman and new manager dont want him.

For me it makes sense to bring him in.

With regards to his pace, he can't be any slower than N'Gotty.

Pace shouldn't be such an issue in this division anyway. His size should render most strikers in this division useless.

Bring him in.

But when he does come up against a forward with more pace than him, it'll be a case of him grabbing their shirts, bringing them down and giving away free kicks or worse!

Do you know what forwards we're going to face in League One?

Careful.

I don't mind having Moore playing for Leicester, but only if he's like the only or one of two more experienced players.

In this case, he should be made captain.

I saw Derby play twice in the season they went up. On both occasions he was the worst player on the pitch, by some distance, something that he's regularly been since. He doesn't have mobility, positional sense, he's far worse at passing than McAuley ever was, he has nothing but being big on his side. He is a complete bystander when the opposition do anything other than hump it long - and while the players in league one aren't as rounded, there's more to it tactically than just hoofball, when you look at the good teams in it. He's frankly the worst central defender I've seen at championship level by a country mile and I strongly doubt he would be even close to adequate at league one level either.

I thought he looked pretty good in our game against Derby at Pride Park that season. On the other hand, he was part of a defense that let Fryatt score a goal........ Getting mixed feelings now....

L1 strikers aren't the best in the world and possibly DM could do a job as the head it and boot it CB (if you get my drift) but not much more then that. I'd be concerned that he'd command more in wages then he'd actually be worth given the simple nature of the task. Also you'd still need a cb that can play a bit and be fast enough to cover behind.

I think people are greatly underrating the threat that we could face from L1 strikers. This league has the likes of Aaron McLean, Joe Garner, Nicky Maynard, Jermaine Beckford, Kevin Lisbie, Lee Barnard who would all run rings around old-man Moore. I know age isn't the be all and end all but Moore has shown he simply cannot cope with even the slightest modicum of movement from an opposition striker. We need someone a lot more mobile.

I haven't a clue who any of these strikers are!

I'll have to buy a copy of Football Manager to scout them out. Never 'managed' a team below the second tier...

Although I would prefer to see Pearson bring in some young talented players I think this signing needs to happen. L1 is a tough league and you need big strong defenders. Darren Moore ticks all the L1 boxes for me. No higher than L1 though please Darren just get us out this league with your mean looks and leg busting challenges and we might forget that you played for them sheep shagging c*ck sniffers!!!

Do you think they sniff sheep's c*cks? :P

Moore will be alright for us, definitely not worth the moaning on here.

You are 100% correct.

I didn't go to that match. However, at the Walkers he was dreadful and against Cardiff he was easily outmanouvred by Steve Thompson, who is essentially a poor mans Steve Howard. He was THAT slow. I mean, McAuley lacked pace and agility but Moore is on an entirely different level.
