Was talking to my mate who said that his dad’s stepbrother was on a flight in to east midlands sat next to Spencer Prior.

Prior apparently told him that he had been speaking to Gareth Williams in Asda and apparently William’s had said that Nigel Clough had heard from MON that Steve Walford was talking to John Gregory at an Aston Villa nostalgia night.

The word is Gregory was telling Walford to tell John Robertson that you can now use Morrison vouchers down Tesco. Now here’s the interesting part – Gregory also said you could use Sainsbury vouchers down Tesco too.

One down, nineteen to go!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/7463294.stm

Paul Ince is set to named as the new manager of Blackburn Rovers, according to BBC Radio 5 Live.

The MK Dons boss is Rovers' number one target following Mark Hughes' departure, despite Sam Allardyce being interviewed for the role.

Former England and Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren has also been linked with a move to Ewood Park.

Rovers chairman John Williams has stated that he expects an announcement to be made by the end of this week.

The former England captain has always been a target of Blackburn and the MK Dons are expecting the situation to be resolved in the next few days," said BBC Radio 5 Live reporter Juliette Ferrington.

"That would tie in with the bookies, who in the last 24 hours, have made Ince firm favourite to succeed Hughes.

"Sam Allardyce has also been interviewed for the job but I understand he is likely to miss out in favour of Ince."

Six candidates have been interviewed to succeed Hughes, who left Rovers for Manchester City on 5 June, with Ince, McClaren and former Bolton and Newcastle manager Allardyce regarded as the leading candidates.

McClaren has been out of work since he was sacked by England in November after they failed to qualify for Euro 2008 and he told Radio 5 Live on 7 June that he would be interested in the Blackburn job.

Ince has had an impressive season with MK Dons after moving from Macclesfield in June last year.

The 40-year-old former West Ham, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Liverpool midfielder led MK Dons to the League Two title as well as the Football League Trophy in his first season with the club.

His achievements attracted the interest of Leicester, who made an official approach to the MK Dons for Ince's services earlier this month.

Blackburn would need special dispensation to appoint Ince as he does not yet have the Uefa Pro Licence coaching qualification.

Uefa and Premier League rules require anyone wishing to manage in the top flight to hold the Uefa pro licence, which requires 240 hours of study and usually takes a year to gain.

The Premier League could block his appointment although Gareth Southgate got the green light to manage Middlesbrough two years ago without being licensed.

And League Managers' Association chief executive Richard Bevan insists he will not lobby against Ince's appointment.

Meh, I bet he's true to his word unlike someone we have the misfortune to know :frusty:

There is no major rush, yet

its better to get the right manager. that hurry and get another dick head.

But we'll end up with a dick head how ever long he takes so it might as well happen quickly.

I would agree if Milan hadn't set himself countless deadlines and thusly winding up us in the process when he breaks them. I would say it was fairly important if we had a manager and his staff in place before pre season starts though, wouldn't you?

In all fairness, the bloke has had well over a month. If he hadn't have set so many deadlines it wouldn't have mattered.

I'd just like an end to all the speculation that's floating about.

Says on the back of today's Mercury that if Gregory is appointed he wants to make Walsh his number 2!

There's a couple of threads on it already mate ;)

Does Gregory have his own staff, appointing Walshie would suggest not. Does this mean that Taggart could now work with the first team aswell as being Reserve team boss?

I'm guessing he'll have been out of work too long to have his won staff.

Presumably they wouldn't have stayed unemployed for so long on the off chance some over enthusiastic chairman might decide he'd make a good manager again.

I would certainly hope Taggart would be at least the same level as Walsh

Forking hell, still not got a manager yet..............

Surely we're getting someone who is currently employed like Worthington or Grayson where compensation needs to be thrashed out. There is no reason for the delay if Mandaric is pursuing a currently unemployed manager.

You'd have thought something like that was going on, you'd have thought if it was gregs he's have got it by now, unless there is a sticking point.

Could be that he was waiting for the blackburn outcome and wanted a last go at one of the other (bigger) candidates before making the final decision.
