Romania's only chance is if Holland rest a few players and Romania play out of their skins, but given any second string Dutch players would be playing for their chance to keep their spot the odds of that happening are remote. This has Dutch win written all over it.

But the Romanians know the Dutch well and got 4 out of 6 points against them in qualifying, so they know how to hurt them. I'm fully expecting the scenario you describe above from the Romanians. But surely Van Basten will have instilled a cautious mentally in his players, to avoid getting them injured or suspended and to preserve energy for the quarters...

France can go through with a draw providing Romania lose 3-0 But like you say both teams will be going for it because France can't risk relying on Romania to lose.
