Thracian Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Some super football. In the end the otherwise imperious Ballack's bit of well-timed cheating made the difference but while prats like Blatter don't want to entertain video replay evidence we'll forever find that referees and linesmen can't or don't see what actually happens. What a quality attacking right-back Chelsea seem to have signed in Bosingwa, a guy with the pace, precision and relentlessness to be one of the world's best. Ronaldo was cleverly neutralised but I felt for the little mastermind Deco who worked like a locksmith on Germany's defence without reward. Portugal ultimately paid for having such an indifferent goalkeeper and for the sloppy marking at free-kicks, as emphasised by Ronaldo. In fact, with a goalkeeper like Ricardo, the last thing you should be doing is conceding free kicks at all.

Agreed, but Chelsea will struggle in the Champions League and against the better English teams if Bosingwa continues to completely ignore his defensive duties like he did tonight. As the commentator said, he spent more time in Germany's half than his own.
Flynny Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 The pitch is like a used condom. It's dirty. It's messy. It's still usable. Should have just said crisp packet.
Milky Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 I know they're in the Semi but Germany are a poor side. Croatia will play them off the park again hopefully.
DBEightyFive Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Absolutely fantastic game of football. If someone didn't enjoy that game, they should never ever ever watch football again!! Surrounded by Portugese in the bar about 2 mins from my house....I've never seen so many grown men shed a tear.
Jack Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 I really like watching Ronaldo but it made my blood boil when he was rolling around the floor like a 7 year old girl when he said someone had stood on him and as you seen from the replay there was hardly any contact at all. He seriously needs to cut this side out of his game.

CKB Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 I'm sure his 9 billion a week offer from Real Madrid will soon turn that frown upside down! ---------------- As for the game a good game of footie, i don't know what it is with Germany but they always seem to do well in major tournaments when looking like they may stuggle in the first stages! I mean against Austria they looked average and now they do this! Bloody sods!
Master Fox Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 I hope Fergie sticks to his words and makes him rot in the reserves rather than give into player power. Or, send him out on loan to someonw like Luton Town. Ronaldo is a whiny little ****. Would be quite funny to see him go to Madrid and have a nightmare like so many players do, only to end up playing for someone like Boro two years sown line after their Galactico dreams have all but ended.
Number 6 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I wanted Portugal to go through but oh well. Awful keeping from Ricardo. And why did Portugal feel the need to shoot from 30 yards all the time when they have the passing ability that they do? very frustrating.
LeeCovFox Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 You watch Germany go on and win it now. They aren't the best side in the tournament in terms of flair and excitement, but then when have they ever been? They have won 3 World Cups and 3 European Championships. It's just what they do. I'm hoping for a Germany vs Holland final. What a game that would be.

As the commentator said, he spent more time in Germany's half than his own. Yes agreed!! Taking nothing away from the lad, he is a good player, but he will need to pick up his defensive duties in the Prem!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 That gimpy presenter is really pissing me off tonight. He speaks about four words, then pauses, then another four words, and pause again.fooking hell you cvunt speak a fluent sentence you twat!!! aarrrrrrrrrrggggghhhhh! Ah, good ole Matt. Smith. I like. To take pauses. In stupid. Places. Ronaldo.
Koke Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Germany The Italy v Spain game will be a carbon copy of this one.
Tilley Posted 20 June 2008 Author Posted 20 June 2008 Fantastic football, fantastic match, really shows that even if England had qualified, we would have struggled. Were a country mile off Germany, Portugal, Spain, Holland, Croatia, Russia & even the Turks look better than us. Capello has some big work to do. Well done Germany, hopefully Croatia give you a spanking in the semis to set up a Croatia/Holland final
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I know they're in the Semi but Germany are a poor side. Croatia will play them off the park again hopefully. Not sure how you can say that, really. Some slightly suspect defending at times but they looked massively, massively improved against Portugal. And, while I like Croatia and I do hope they beat Turkey and the Germans, it's not exactly as if they're Holland or Spain themselves, is it? They play some good football. But they don't exactly have a devastating, cutting edge.
