sham Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 LEEDS and Leicester are locked in a tug-of-war over Blackpool’s £200,000-rated striker Ben Burgess, 26. SOURCE
MikeyT Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 This the guy that used to play for Hull? Yep! Only cost Blackpool £25,000! I am reading that right and my eyes arent playing tricks right? http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=20396
teblin Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Big and strong pretty much in the howard role i think. Has about a 1 in 3 scoring record so not bad.
billyfox1 Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Big and strong pretty much in the howard role i think. does that mean he can't run, can't head, and can't score????
David Guiza Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 i remember him coming on against us for Hull at the KC a couple of seasons ago and he was shocking
General Smuts Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 His surname kinda looks like Burgers. Hmmm he's no Licka but i could work with that.
Bryn Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 When he first signed for Hull he was their top striker. He got injured and lost his way a bit and Hull have been through a lot of strikers over the years so he ended up at Blackpool, where I'm not too sure how he has done. He's definately a target man, possibly a litttle more mobile than Howard but like I see I haven't see him play or heard anything about him in ages.
Mark Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Whats the point when old man Howards on the books, but I still wouldn't take him, always say no to lumps of this kind I'm sick of the site of them. This is the worst rumour since Steve Howard and Mark De Vries.
SamL Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Not the best rumour I've heard. I think we can do better than him. Go to Leeds Burgess.
Webbo Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 I can't understand the negativity, we need a target man, all teams do. If we sign this lad then maybe it means Howard's on his way out (not that I'm really anti-Howard anyway).

Preferably one who can run a bit though and these pair can't, we don't need a cumbersome target man we've had what seems like dozens and none successful.

dog_4 Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 nah never rated him. The striker to go for is nicky maynard. Full of pace and scores loads of goals at this level. Ricky sappleton can be the target man.

Joe. Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 I can't see Maynard coming here. I think he'll go to a Championship club. Or maybe even higher...
SamL Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Or maybe even higher... I think a Premier League club were linked with him a while back. I think it'd be a gamble for a Premier League club if I'm honest.
