Samu Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 I just spent my 4th of July watching the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating competition. People actually have to qualify for this event and it's broadcast live on ESPN. The guy who won it managed 59 hot dogs in 10 minutes, it was crazy! Only in America!

July 4, American Airlines, mid-morning departure. I must confess I warned him to stay alert. But he didn't seem bothered.

Maybe, but 4th July????? I don't think so. We would only use a celebration to get pissed, and we don't need an excuse to do that. I remember the idea of some sort of national day being talked about in the press the other year BBC News Personally I found it a bit patronising that they would attempt to establish a random day deigned by government to celebrate 'britishness' as if you can define exactly what that is. I appreciate that they're trying to promote St George's Day a bit more now, or at least they did this year, but again it's just another excuse to get pissed. Sorry, I know I may have gone off at a bit of a tangent there but rant over now Oh and Happy 4th July to all American FTers
