22 Man Squad For Pre-season Tour

You get my point though. I don't keep tabs on football players drinking habits but it would be sensible to assume they wont be drinking when they go on a pre season tour?? They are supposed to be preparing for the season both physically and mentally.

The manager, and the players if they are professional enough to realise they shouldn't be drinking.

Agreed. But what do you think happened at La Manga. It all stems from what guidelines are given from the top. If the manager basically doesn't tell them the rules as outlined in my message, then young guys with time and money in abundance are prone to getting into trouble. I don't think many footballers are professional enough to realise without being told to. Blunt but true.

I think its more of a bonding trip, so Tunchev should definitely be part of it. I'm still wondering why it have to be only 22 players to go.

Because hopefully he wants to build a strong bond of players that are all going to get their chance and not take some joker that doesn't have a future at the club.

I think 22 is a good number.

Don't sugar coat shit... tell us how you REALLY feel. :ermm:

Clemence is living in his Dad's glory, he's utterly butterly shit and has set up more goals for the opposition than for us... Birmingham player of the season :crylaugh: - Was that when they were in Conference North :dunno:lol

But we will play around 50 games this season with 46 league games, FA Cup, League Cup and the virgin trip into the world of the thingy bob cup for lower leagues. So we will most surely need a bigger squad than 22, so don't see the point leaving the likes of Cox, Beswick, Ashley Chambers and McKay at home. Might as well try and get a good vibe all around while we are at it. Well thats how I see it.

It depends what Pearson thinks he's going to need doesn't it. His policy on youth might be a different one and he likes them to stay with the youth team and then called up when they're needed.

yes but the likes of Cox and A. Chambers, if I am not mistaken can still play for the academy next season and so will probably be training with them despite being on the fringes of the 1st team squad so 22 senior players on the trip is a good core to take

. But footballers have a lot at stake espewcially at leicester who are an ambitious alcoholic club.

amazing what the subconscious can, ahem, throw up...

Have you seen today's papers?

If Scolari is happy to have a squad of 25 the 22 is more than enough for us.

I'm sure cost is the reason as someone else has said. But I really question the sense in being so tight on the finances on this one. It is a bonding trip and the morale of those who DON'T go will plummet. I think it would have been better to send around 28 players, particularly as it is likely that one or two who do go on the trip will probably attract bids and be off anyway over the summer meaning that in reality only 20 potential players will have gone on this trip.

The one thing I would do is order strict profesional conduct rules. There must be no repeat of la manga or anything like it. I would impose

1) no excessive drinking - 2 glass/2 pints maximum rule.

2) anyone detected having more to be be sent home.

3) anyone getting into trouble will be sent home and sacked - no 'ifs' or 'buts'. All players must exercise extreme judgement over the company they get into and immediately ditch it if they have any doubts. If they get it wrong and get into trouble, it is they that pay for their error of judgement not the club.

4) I would also encourage a curfew rule as well.

This is a WORK trip. Not a social pi$$ up. I go to conferences all the time - it is very frowned on to get drunk. I have never seen it happen to be honest. It might not be uncommon with footballers and sales staff and so on. But footballers have a lot at stake espewcially at leicester who are an ambitious club. We cannot afford to have players behaving like salesman on an overnight stay thinking they can get rat ar$ed/get laid on company expenses. I would absolutely lay down the law on this one.

Have you read Frank Worthington's 'One Hump or Two?'

Especially the piece about when Revie took over (what a miserable school-mistress he was)

You could also read the piece on why he thought Leicester was so special (social evenings all the time sorted by Birchenal)

I agree that we don't want them totally addled but they are also meant to enjoy their time with the club.

I think it would be more appropriate for him to go on a GCSE english trip rather than on tour...

I'm just saying... I think certain people, not necessarily in this topic, need to take a step back and get out the arse of some of the Leicester players. Take ashley chambers for example. He has done abserloutely nothing for this club to date, yet people worship the ground he walks on ''just because he plays for Leicester''
