hebangsthedrums Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 can't be bothered to write a lot: zzzzzzzzzzzz 5's all round except for Chamber (J) & Weso - 6. Logan perhaps could have done better for goal but I was at an angle so couldnt see very well - ditto Howards penalty though it was a good save. DJ missed a couple of sitters and generally looks like he will never score. The CB pair were worrying (4 each for them) - yes its a friendly but they didn't communicate and got drawn out of position easily. Howard wasn't actually that bad but he really does need balls playing into him that he can attack as opposed to landing on his head. Gradel & Dyer looked ok, Gradel appeared to cut his head. Chambo has beefed up but didnt really get much of the ball.
jammo_lcfc Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 There was trouble after the match at the train station. Luton boys were throwing rocks and jumped the gate onto the platform. Didnt see what happened after as our train arrived.

Not suprised really, load of chavs to the right of the away might have had something to do with it I was sat fairly near a man who kept shouting for Porter to come on, and I have a slight feeling it might have been Thracian

And if Howard is to play then our wingers need to get passed players and put in a good ball, it is no good knocking long balls, we look like we will never score if we play like that. I would prefer to play more direct football and not play Howard, but if he is to play then the wingers need to get passed players and get good balls into the box for Howard to attack! I thought Kishishev played well when he come on second half, he linked play up well and looked eager to impress! But the rest i agree zzzz
Simi Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Just got back. Not that impressed to be honest. We lost everything in midfield which was worrying. Still no leader on the pitch which is also a concern. Howard's penalty was dreadful, so obvious where he was going. Gradel had glimpses of greatness but other than that, ordinary. Dyer was probably man of the match, a very direct player. No leader at the back either.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I thought Kishishev was our best player on the night. Wouldn't play Worley and Morrison together. I think they both look okay but the centre-back position worries me a bit. N'Gotty seems to be over the hill and Tunchev won't exactly organise the defence until he masters the bloody language first. I think Gilbert and Chambers both look great going forward, bit suspect defensively. Mattock and Dyer were fairly quiet, we seemed to try the right side whenever possible. Bodes well for Gradel who was one of our best players on the night. Couple of superb crosses including for the goal. Dyer is nice and direct, could be a big hit. Oakley poor for me tonight. Didn't command the game at all, Spring had him in his pocket. Wesolowski a bit more lively but still chasing most of the time instead of controlling the midfield. Kishishev was excellent when he came on, looks to be a lot fitter this season. Would pick him ahead of Oakley on the showings from Hinckley and tonight. Howard and Campbell I don't think will ever quite do it for us. Wish we'd sold them. Hopefully it will work out but it's pointless playing wingers and Howard if he's never far forward enough to be on the end of the crosses. Adams a bit disappointing tonight but would prefer to see him as a sub for Gradel anyway I think. And yeah, there was trouble at the train station afterwards. Not nice at all but only involving those who wanted it. Pretty scary at the time.
Unabomber Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I thought James Chambers did ok, and Kish did well when he came on, the midfield was seriously bad when it was Oakley and Wesolowski which was quite worrying. They seemed too defensive and not giving the ball to the outlets on the wings. I thought Gradel and Dyer were alright when they had time on the ball, and I thought the strikers were pretty useless.
Bert Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Had a good laugh, but that's about it. I thought DJ worked hard, Howard was about as useful as a glass hammer. No-one apart from Gradel and Kish really seemed up for it, thought Morrison looked shaky.
Houdini Logic Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Kish was the highlight for me. nice link up and creativity - also seemed to be the only one giving 110%
lildave3 Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Not very impressed at all. Have alot of doubts over Morrison after that performance. Mattock looked disinterested and was at originally at fault for their goal, which to be fair was a screamer. Gradel showed glimpes of what he can do, but also showed glimpses of his temperament. Kishishev played better than Oakley imo too. Dyer looks ok though, was probably our best player tonight.

Dyer looked pretty nifty. Luton is a shithole. Gradel showed decent flashes. Luton is a shithole. Possibly the most boring game ever. Howard needs to go back to sunday league. Useless fckpot.

If I'd not have rang Ched you wouldn't have even known, plus we had a 30-40 minute stop off too and still managed to catch you up grandma.
Scarby Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 lets hope we iron out silly errors pretty fast i dont hold out much hope for the new season. lets hope we arent finished in the transfer market yet.

We stopped for half an hour as well whilst LD3 made some dirty asian take gerkins out his burger And I took le fezzler back to the train station, so have that grandad.
Unabomber Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Didn't show the pen though, but Springs goal was a right screamer, didn't realise he hit it as well as that at the time.
lildave3 Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Just seen the goals on TV, Springs looked even better than it did at the time. Stunning goal.
escape2victory Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Central midfield and up front worries me. We have lots of numbers in those areas but do they have enough quality or desire. For me, we need a new centre mid and striker. Kishishev and Oakley havnt got the legs to play togther, and James Wesolowski for me is turning into a bit of an enigma. Ive given him the benefit of the doubt, coming back from injuries and being young etc, but ive yet to see him control the midfield, and his first touch and general technique is frightening. Seems a poor mans Robbie Savage to me. Also deep down does Oakley really want to be here ? Up front we have too many nearly men.
DanTheFox07 Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 not a gr8 friendly result in all honesty, but before everyone gets to disheartened ill remind everyone that real aim of friendlies is for fitness.
DanTheFox07 Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Just seen the goals on TV, Springs looked even better than it did at the time. Stunning goal. Logan`s attempt at saving it was comical, if u see it again...! oh dear.
Unabomber Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Logan`s attempt at saving it was comical, if u see it again...! oh dear. Tbf there isn't many goalkeepers who would have kept that out, was just a quality strike.
Unabomber Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Pearson Pleased Once More From OS Pearson Pleased Once More Posted on: Wed 23 Jul 2008 City boss Nigel Pearson was once again encouraged by the performance of his players following their 1-1 pre-season friendly draw against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night. Lloyd Dyer's second half effort cancelled out Matthew Spring's stunning opener on an evening when the Foxes created the better chances. DJ Campbell twice came close while Steve Howard was denied by the woodwork and from the spot by an excellent save from keeper Dean Brill. However, despite not registering the win, Pearson was satisfied with the 90 minutes. Article continues Advertisement He said: "It was another good work out for us and I am pretty pleased with the night's work. "Luton gave us a stern test and while we did miss a few chances, for me the most important thing was that the game acted as another building block on the way to the start of the new season. That's what it's all about. "We did well for the first half an hour then they had a spell when they were on top but I am aware of where we are at as a squad at the moment and the remaining two weeks of pre-season are going to be vital for us. "There were plenty of encouraging points on the night particularly the move for the goal but there are also things which need tweaking to the limit the opposition's chances. "But it was a worthwhile exercise. My players must understand their role in the side and be in the right mental state to go out week in, week out and perform. I am confident that will happen." Meanwhile, Pearson wished the Hatters well for the season after recently being docked an unprecedented 30 points following a ruling by the Football League. He added: "I thought Luton played pretty well and I'm sure Mick (Harford) would have been pleased because as a club they've taken a lot of knocks recently and I for one wish them all the best for the season. "They've got a very difficult task ahead but if they play with that sort of spirit then they'll stand a chance." Next up for the Foxes is a trip to Quorn on Thursday night and Pearson said: "A number of players who didn't take part tonight will play on Thursday. "The challenge for all the players is to be in the shake-up come the start of the season."
Basingstoke Fox Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 That was so funny when every chanted ROONEY ROONEY at the kid selling programmes, and being escorted back to the station. "Your going to get a lifetime ban" and the fat policeman who couldnt put his baton away  . Wtf happenned at the station though?? Me and my mate were looking from the opposite side of the Station.
