Tevez Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 What is the best treatment for a Bad Back? Deep Heat doesn't work and I'm starting to get uncomfortable on short journey trips. I'm worried. I hope I don't turn into the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Just lie down more, or when you sit down, make sure you're properly cushioned. Had a bad back recently and it still niggles every now and then, but the rest done it good.
Unabomber Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Broke my tail bone a few years ago, and it was either have an operation and remove it (and be a couple of inches shorter) or leave it. I left it. Anyway I would suggest making sure you are comfortable when sitting/lying, and when you move/get up do it slowly.

Cat Burger Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Sometimes it works when you get someone to thwack it. And also theres a manoeuvre that's like the Heimlich, where you cross your arms onto your shoulders (like you're dead) and let the person grab your hands and lift you whilst bending backwards. Honestly try that if you're looking for some sort of reset crackage.
Cat Burger Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 I love that avatar Imagine how long that took me to take and I'll tell you it took an additional 9 hours.

You can first test your hamstrings by putting the middle part of your foot onto a step and and applying pressure downwards towards the ball end if that makes any sense If your hamstrings are tight (i.e back of calfs) then thats the likely cause I have a whole shit load of exercise routines i should go through, problem is i cant be bothered half the time, hence,my back still aches from time to time.

Tomassi Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 why dont you lie straight on a hard floor and get someone to walk along your back, that will straighten it up
AoWW Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Why don't you go Doctors? Waste of time, in my experience, when it comes to bad backs. Get yourself to an osteopath or chiropractor if you can afford it.
jonno24 Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 you can always get a tempur matress this did wonders for my missus when she suffered with it after the birth of our son. Also worked for me when i had my biking accident

My dad went to the Physiotherapists and saw Mick Yeoman (ex-city physio) when he had a bad back and he fixed it perfectly and quite cheap aswell...

Matt Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 I was told don't use deep heat anyway as that just inflames the muscle even more, your better of using cold patches/ice, e.t.c. I'm currently been going to a physio, I've been going well over a year, I started off going to a Osteopath but he was a bag of shite and I came out worse after seen him, So them I found someone else, He the physio for Atherstone Town and sorted my out after going to the Osteopath I've had alot of problems with my neck and shoulder through lifting at work and as lifting is a main part of my job which I can't avoid its taking/took a long time to fix, I'm am finally just about feeling ok again, A few more session and hopefully i'll be there.
