lildave3 Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Saw a bit of this earlier, I chuckled at some bits, but turned it off at the break. And for me to turn off comedy, you know it can't be good.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Saw a bit of this earlier, I chuckled at some bits, but turned it off at the break. And for me to turn off comedy, you know it can't be good. You missed the R Kelly sketch in the previous show then. Comedy Gold. Give it a chance.
lildave3 Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 You missed the R Kelly sketch in the previous show then. Comedy Gold.Give it a chance. Nope, I saw it. Can't remember where though, but they showed a clip of it on another show.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Nope, I saw it.Can't remember where though, but they showed a clip of it on another show. So you're saying you saw the R Kelly thing but still think it's poor? "Get outta here!"
lildave3 Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 So you're saying you saw the R Kelly thing but still think it's poor?"Get outta here!" It was alright. I didn't say it was poor anyway, just not that good.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 It was alright.I didn't say it was poor anyway, just not that good. It's not good. It's fantastic.
Finchy Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Oh, and anyone saying Bo' Selecta was poor needs to sit down and just marvel in the pure one and a half minutes of magic that is Sodapop. Marvellous. Your opinion is now officially void.
The Reverend Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 I watched this a few days ago. There were a few funny bits, but most of it was fcking crap i thought.
Libertine Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 spaced was absolutely awesome! but it could be one of those 'you had to be there' comedies, it was very much of its time. but if you do like hotfuzz and shaun of the dead, you might like it.(there's not many clips to choose from) Just watch both series in two days. So brilliant.
Corky Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 To be fair I think that the BBC is probably just as, if not more hit-and-miss than Channel Four when it comes to comedy. I can't really think of that many shows on C4 that have been offensively bad, but I can list a few BBC Ones that make me cringe:My Family The Green Green Grass Lab Rats Feel the Force Touch Me I'm Karen Taylor After You've Gone Also, C4 does import ALOT of quality American stuff. Programmes like Scrubs, The Big Bang Theory and The Simpsons to name a few. BBC panel shows are usually decent and they mainly stick to that formula. Nothing new or inventive is tried (in terms of comedy anyway). The only good BBC sitcoms I can think of are Not Going Out and The Worst Week of My Life. Oh, and anyone saying Bo' Selecta was poor needs to sit down and just marvel in the pure one and a half minutes of magic that is Sodapop. Marvellous. I agree about the BBC "comedies" apart from My Family, which was a good show, but that has gone on too long. I love Not Going Out, but I cannot stand The Worst Week of My Life. The BBC need to be more inventive with their shows.
The People's Hero Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Labrats is APPALLING. HOW the FUC K did that get on TV?
Corky Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Labrats is APPALLING.HOW the FUC K did that get on TV? It is absolute crap.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Your opinion is now officially void. If you don't like Sodaapop then you are suffering from a sense of humour meltdown. Labrats is APPALLING.HOW the FUC K did that get on TV? Yes, it is really, really wank.
Finchy Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 If you don't like Sodaapop then you are suffering from a sense of humour meltdown. Erm no. The BBC is better no doubt, yes there are bad shows but look at the good ones from the BBC over the last few years. The Office!! Alan Partridge Flight Of The Conchords The Thick Of It Saxondale Extras Nighty Night The League Of Gentlemen Goodness Gracious Me Little Britain Catherine Tate Mock The Week Have I Got News For You Never Mind The Buzzcocks Mighty Boosh (Even though personally I think it's w*nk, loads of people like it) Armstrong And Miller Vicar Of Dibley QI Seriously that list kicks the sh*t out of comedy from Channel 4 in the last 10 or so years.

Little Britain - Overhyped Catherine Tate - About as funny as genital warts I've admittedly said that the BBC do panel shows well, probably why there are so many in that list, but in the end all that shows to me is lack of ideas. I never disputed the quality of the stff the Beeb does well, but when they make poor comedies, they really do offesnively bad programmes. GGM, Alan Partridge, League of Gentlemen and The Office (while all brilliant) all ended some time ago. I was making reference to your original statement talking about Channel 4 comedy "nowadays". Are you seriously trying to tell me that the likes of The IT Crowd, Garth Merenghi's Darkplace, and Peep Show would look out of place in that list? I think not.

Ok but still if you take away the slightly older stuff, the BBC's stuff nowadays beats Channel 4's stuff (Flight Of The Conchords beats anything channel 4 have ever done for starters ) . Peep Show IMO is the only good recent comedy Channel 4 have shown. The funniest thing on Channel 4 is still Big Brother tho Plus leave Little Britain and Catherine Tate alone, I bet you were loving them the first time you saw them like everyone else. They both got a bit old but the first time you saw them they were hilarious!

Stunning. My favourite comedy for a long time. And they're bringing out a film next year and a new series in 2010. I can't wait.

I didn't mind Little Britain to begin with but I watched all the series of The Fast Show after Series 3 of LT was released and it made me realise how vulgar it had to be in order to be funny. Any comedy that relies on tranny humour as a main focus of the show is seriously unfunny. I've never liked Catherine Tate though. I tried, really tried to get into the prgramme, and watched two episodes that were almost identical. The punchlines are always the same. I've never liked that at all.
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 August 2008 Posted 15 August 2008 He has come out with some good ones tonight "Harrow Harrow and the O.C.D.O.C"
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 August 2008 Posted 15 August 2008 He has come out with some good ones tonight "Harrow Harrow and the O.C.D.O.C" I thought the Pun Detective was pretty funny in a "oh god " sort of way.
jonno24 Posted 16 August 2008 Posted 16 August 2008 crap simple as that about as funny as being told you have aids
Alexikokopops Posted 16 August 2008 Posted 16 August 2008 Labrats is APPALLING.HOW the FUC K did that get on TV? Oh god yes. We started watching an episode by accident. Never again. As for the Kevin Bishop Show, I haven't watched it but I just figured it was about as funny as the repetitive analogies involving some sort of disease that keep cropping up in this thread.
Matt Posted 31 July 2009 Posted 31 July 2009 Started again tonight. Its only been on 10 minutes, but so far its been pretty funny.
