Moreton Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 I am assuming that it will be these two who will be leading our attack on saturday. Does anyone else reckon that they will perform well together and form a good goal scoring partnership? I am looking forward to seeing these two playing together, plus Gradel.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Can't see Dickov starting. Howard and Fryatt with Campbell and Dickov on the bench I would have thought.
Father Ted Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 I would love to see a Howard-Dickov partnership but then would be very upset to not see Fryatt in there...
Bert Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Can't see Dickov starting. Howard and Fryatt with Campbell and Dickov on the bench I would have thought. That's the general consensus for everyone. Dickov and Campbell will probably start against Stockport in the cup. Although, it's well known that Dickov is better playing with a target man.
FilboFox Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Could be Howard and Dickov once Paul's settled in... it'd be the new little and large like it was with Heskey and Cottee... As for Saturday... I wouldn't mind seeing Fryatt and Campbell going at the MKD's back line... pace could scare them off a bit.

Darkzzz_ Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Clubs would certainly kill to have the options we have, I just hope they work. I would go with Howard and Dickov/Fryatt.
syston_fox Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Dickov wont start!!He hasnt had a pre-season, think he will come of the bench for a few weeks until he gets fully match fit!! Think I read somewhere that he's done the full pre season with Man City (minus the friendly games) so wouldn't be suprised to see him in action in midweek v stockport.
CKB Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Could be Howard and Dickov once Paul's settled in... it'd be the new little and large like it was with Heskey and Cottee... Heskey had pace and was usually always up for it, Howard on the other hand........ Anyhow if i was going with anyone i'd probs go with Fryatt and Campbell, if Dickov is fit and ready maybe Dickov and Fryatt
SamL Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Can't see Dickov starting. Howard and Fryatt with Campbell and Dickov on the bench I would have thought. That would be my front two as well.
Lovejoy Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Personally I don't believe Fryatt will transfer his pre-season goalscoring into the important games. If he gets 10 I will be stunned. Gotta be Howard and Dickov or Campbell imo.
awaydayblue Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 i reckon we should actually go out to win for once and stick 3 up top. Dickov on the left, fryatt out right, and take your pick centrally. Think it would work perfectly, as if we play the long ball like we always do, we'd always pick it up. 3 up top would put us on the front foot straight away. I am actually excited about playing mk dons, never thought i'd see the day
Jimmy Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Dickov wont start!!He hasnt had a pre-season, think he will come of the bench for a few weeks until he gets fully match fit!! yes he has, he was training at Man City, if you watch his interview on world he confirms this

Lovejoy Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 you say that about Fryatt yet you want Campbell who hasn't even performed in pre-season Remember Fryatt last 2 seasons? At least DJ has pace, which will be very valuable in this league.
Jimmy Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Remember Fryatt last 2 seasons? At least DJ has pace, which will be very valuable in this league. yes but much like Elvis Hammond, pace is useless if you can't finish or even stay on side besides Fryatt has earned his place for Saturday, DJ hasn't even earned a place on the bench

I would be very dissapointed if Pearson didnt start with Fryatt, he was our best striker last pre-season but the clueless Allen didnt start with him so i dont want Pearson to do the same as i think Fryatt as been our best striker this pre-season and i think this will knock him for six as he looks very fit and confident!

The "clueless" Allen had Fryatt sussed as overweight and unfit. He may have sorted his weight out now, but he still owes us a big season. The competition for places up front means Pearson won't indulge him in the way previous managers have done.

He was fat and overweight because of Allen, did you not see how unfit our side was against Blackpool this time last year because of that idiot! But the point was he was still our best striker last pre-season and should of been given the nod against Blackpool. Thankfully Pearson does have a clue and think will reward people in form. We actually look like we will have a good competitive squad this year that will fight for places and think there will be a few changes for the cup game against Stockport giving the players who missed out a chance, we will see.

Fryatt may be sleeker and fitter but the biggest reasons he can do better this season are because he'll be competing at a lower level and will have quality support all around him so his limitations won't matter so much. He still has much to learn but I've every faith in him for 2008/2009.
