Knighton Matt Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 do you think hirschfield (sp?) will be given the no. 1 shirt and a run in the first team next year or will CL look to bring in a replacement...
C-man Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 Has anyone seen him play in the reserves yet? I havent seen him play. I hope Walker stays with us though, even though his wages are high
shen Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 It's a bit touch and go whether or not Walker leaves. I can't imagine anyone in the Prem wanting him at this age with the injury he had this season. I'd be happy if he stays, but I don't think Hirschfeld will be number 1, no... he was brought in purely as a senior backup goalie and will probably not get a chance...

He's guaranteed 1st team football here, and even if he takes a pay cut, I'm sure he'll still earn enough to live a luxurious life with his wife
Random Burglar Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 Too right! He is not bigger than this club and cannot get on his horse. How many clubs bigger than us will want to sign him? Well i cant think of any!! He should stay and help us to that promotion we badly need.
davieG Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 do you think hirschfield (sp?) will be given the no. 1 shirt and a run in the first team next year or will CL look to bring in a replacement... 89698 Once we're safe (please soon) I think we'll see Hirschfield get a few games as I still believe Walker is not fit. As for next season I think he will have to accept a wage cut in the region of 50% to 75% perhaps with a decent bonus if we get promoted, this would apply to all of MAs veterans e.g Dublin.
Little Nicky Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 Walker wasn't training with the squad yesterday at the Stadium either, as Davieg says I still don't think is fully fit, so as soon as we confirm our championship status Hirshfeld should get a game.
Mark Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 The first team goalkeepers don't train with the rest of the team, well they haven't whenever i've been down there - this was under Adams though, maybe it's all changed now? Most of the time it's been Conrad Logan and some other youngster in goal for the training matches.
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 Is it worth repeating that Ian has already stated he wants to stay, and will take a pay cut to do so? It seems to fly over everyones heads every time a topic like this comes up. He has said he wants to stay with us. The ball is in Levein's court now.

So the fact he wants to stay and is prepared to take a pay cut doesn't guarantee anything.
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 That's a very good point, I was actually thinking more about the 10K-12K wages a week. But like you say it's a Taylor salary so it more than likely could be 20K. I just really hope Ian stays with us and I would love to believe he wouldn't mind to take a big pay cut to do so.
kenny Posted 8 April 2005 Posted 8 April 2005 I think Walkers salary is a fairly realistic 14k per week, one of the few sensible contracts handed at that time. If we were to keep him then an offer of 5k per week plus healthy clean sheet and win bonuses of around 2k each could tempt him so stay.

dave_binos Posted 9 April 2005 Posted 9 April 2005 Rab Douglas of Celtic could be coming to you guys this summer ive heard as his contract is up with Celtic at the end of the season.
Tomassi Posted 9 April 2005 Posted 9 April 2005 U watch Walker will be going to Arsenal or Man Utd free transfer and on a low-rate wage..
Tomassi Posted 9 April 2005 Posted 9 April 2005 Like an Andy Goram to man utd a few years back 89997 exactly u wait and see.. for man u or arsenal they get a quality keeper for a year whilst scouting for another and on the cheap..
Molson Canadian Posted 9 April 2005 Posted 9 April 2005 Hirschfeld Give him a chance  :fox:
dynamite foxes Posted 9 April 2005 Posted 9 April 2005 I think walker needs a new challenge we need to get a goalie from a reserve side like Lenny Pidgely (awesome at Watford last year) or Stack (if he doesn't go to jail!, probably not the best player to sign with our reputation!)

Steven Posted 10 April 2005 Posted 10 April 2005 PAUL GERRARD.Discuss. 90845 ... is a fair keeper, but I doing not see him coming to City as improving the side. There must be better quality keepers available.

You don't go down because your keeper is "poo", you go down because the other 10 players are f**king awful.
