the manc Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 he d be 1st name down in the defence and thats the end of that!
TrickyTrev Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I think "take two touches and play it simple" is fairly simple for most professional footballers, however bad their passing might be. So long as a midfielder makes themselves availible. His passing wasn't as bad as McAuley's, who genuinely panicked in possession. Indeed. Kisnorbo is not woeful in possession ala McAuley, he is just not a particuarly great passer. Perfectly competent at rolling to midfielders feet so long as they make themselves available. His aerial ability and reading of the game make him one of the best defenders out of the Premier League.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I seriously don't see him going back to Liverpool and fighting for a first team place. He did on a couple of occasions last season, he has already impressed me greatly and seems like he could be a great premier league defender in 3/4 years. I reckon we could get him on loan again (if we were to get promoted) but I doubt Benitez will want to sell. As for Kisnorbo, I still think he has a big part to play this season.
Flynny Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I wouldn't discount us signing Hobbs next year if we get promoted. Ironically if he has a good season for us he might be out of our price range next season. I seriously don't see him going back to Liverpool and fighting for a first team place. As has been said, he's already appeared for them and seems to be rated quite highly down there. It's miraculous enough we got him at this level, with this season under his belt he should be at least decent backup at Liverpool.
Bryn Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I think Tunchev is a better defender and I think Morrison and Hobbs are as good defensively as him and have far more potential.
General Smuts Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I think Tunchev is a better defender and I think Morrison and Hobbs are as good defensively as him and have far more potential. Spot on squire. Just heard he's off to West Ham though.
Koke Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I think Tunchev is a better defender and I think Morrison and Hobbs are as good defensively as him and have far more potential. I reckon Jack Hobbs is possibly the best defender we have at the club right now. Morrison is a poor mans Kisnorbo. I quite like Morrison but he has the same characteristics as Kisnorbo and he does play the long ball more often than Hobbs and Tunchev does. So when Kisnorbo does come back, sell him to Fulham or whoever else is interested in him. It won't be a big loss. And for me, Tunchev and Hobbs should be our center pairing.
Darkzzz_ Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I think Hobbs is a special lad. I know he is highly rated up at Liverpool. I don't think he will get a look in up there though, So maybe we could get him permanent providing we go up.

I would agree with you on Hobbs - a solid player who works just as well under pressure. It's the small things that do it for me and I've notice Tunchev and Morrison will head the ball anywhere when they're under pressure (very typical of McCauley/Kisnorbo last year), but Hobbs always seems to be aware of where his players are and he seems to be just that little bit smarter at reading the game.

I think that's testament to how highly regarded as a coach NP is seen as by other managers.

His passing wasn't as bad as McAuley's, who genuinely panicked in possession.I know your feelings on people without silky skills and such, but I do think you need the odd person like the players you mentioned, especially for big games. Remember Tiatto's 19 minutes against Fulham first time round? We'd have won it had he not gone off injured. I'm not actually saying Kisnorbo is necessarily better than who we've got at the minute, I don't actually know, but for now I know who I'd trust more in a playoff final. Kisnorbo played a lot of matches for us and we never got anywhere near a play-off final.
Flynny Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Kisnorbo played a lot of matches for us and we never got anywhere near a play-off final. And Alan Rogers played for us in the Premiership! Lets sign him!
Thracian Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Id have him on the bench for sure.... We won't go into that!
lildave3 Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 A. He's a better defender than Michael The Hoof B. I don't call him Patrick The Hoof.
Rich Fox Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 Of course we dont want him back. I for one hope he stays injured we may of not conseded many goals last season but we gave it away and hoofed it from the back every time and kisnorbo along with the other crap such as stearman and mc auley were all to blame. Im impressed with Morrison and tunchev is miles beter than kisnorbo and jack hobbs is also ten times better than that aussie twat and hes only in his teens.
Head Honcho Posted 5 November 2008 Author Posted 5 November 2008 So what do you all think now? For anyone unsure of Kisnorbo's impact on the team: Points won without Kissa 22pts or 2.44 a game Points won with Kissa 6pts or 1.2 a game
