Just thinking out loud, but It does feel like there will be a Muslim based political party at some point and looks like the Greens seem ripe for a takeover.

It's possible, but firstly I think the outcry over the steps the Greens have taken already will make quite a few people in that party leery of pressing that matter further, and secondly if it does happen it will definitely become a fringe party polling in the single digits pretty much in perpetuity, so it won't mean much under the current voting system.

Pretty much already is with a few of the independents but for now are just masked as mainly Gaza-driven.

If 1 of their first policies is to get rid of slop like jellied eels and Iceland + The Food Warehouse, I'm in

Historically, when voters repeatedly perceive institutions as producing outcomes profoundly at odds with their conception of fairness, security or common sense, support for parties offering much more radical institutional change can increase.

The stronger the perception that conventional political parties cannot or will not resolve cases like this, the more attractive politicians promising to fundamentally change the immigration and human-rights framework can become.

Under what criteria does the authorities decide that the welfare of the public to be protected take priority over a persistent serious offender who for whatever reason does not seem to think of his own welfare. Perhaps he thinks deportation will never happen and or he is so rotten to the core he doesn't care

Which is a shame because I would welcome a traditional green party and what it stood for.

Burnham is moving into the space the traditional greens had rendering the greens rather pointless.

I would say though that wanting less privatisation in our utilities, government services and transport should not be classed as radical left.

Of course it shouldn't be, however the majority of voters who may have been toying with a vote for the Greens, will more and more start to see them as a bit of a single issue party (a left wing Reform, but with a different single issue).

Unfortunately that single issue is no longer climate change but Gaza / Palestine, and most British voters I suspect either don't care enough or are frankly bored of the subject (no judgement), and have it so far down their list of priorities when it comes to actively voting for a party (in fact it is more likely to appear in the negative column), as to render the Greens as completely irrelevant.

@Grebfromgrebland is correct. Between September 2025 and March this year, Green Party membership grew from 68,000 to 215,000—and was still rising. According to the Guardian, a large proportion of those new members are Corbynites who followed him into Your Party but have moved on since it was clear that project was doomed. In other words, there is an itinerant community within the British radical left whose politics are stable but whose political home is constantly changing. The Green Party is just their latest domicile, but they have managed to completely change the party in a short space of time.

I sympathise with long-standing Green Party members who must be wondering where they go from here. However, from the purely selfish standpoint of somebody who does not want Reform anywhere near power after the next election, I’m quite relieved see the Greens disintegrate in this way.

That's not just self interest, mate, based on policy platform that's considering the interest of most of humanity short term and all of it long term.

I think the left wing Muslim alliance is one of the funnier things about modern society

I agree entirely. The problem arises when someone who wants less privatisation also wants to wipe Israel from the face of the earth (the Green Party motion called for the establishment of a single Palestinian state). Nobody remembers Hitler for his support for animal rights, his advocacy of nature conservation and green belts, or his opposition to smoking.

Sounds like another woman killed at the hands of a partner / ex partner in Norfolk.

They were both a couple of years above me at school and friends of my sisters. Totally horrific story.
