I do not think that saying that people who show respect and empathy for all humans regardless of race, colour, creed, religion or sexual orientation is a 'LEFTIE' is an opposing argument just a ridiculous and naieve statement and I find it hard to believe that anyone posting it on a message board can truly be serious therefore other reasons must be looked at. When the 'argument' is constantly naive and ridiculous then alarm bells ring. My last intention when posting is to cause offense but maybe Hope that clears things up.

If you think showing respect for others is wrong feel free to put forward your argument as to why.

Respect has to be earned it is not a given. Well it has to be earned as far as I am concerned. By the same token you imply that people of the right leanings cannot have empathy with their fellow man that is simply not true. I think the difference between so called Right wing and left wing mind sets is that the right wing are realists and live in the real world where as the left wing tend to be naive and as the Monty python song goes " always look on the bright side of life " perhaps there is some reverse trolling going on who knows ?

Ok mind made up. I don't like overt Homosexual behaviour in public or the promoting of it . I don't like the idea of of people performing sex acts in public toilets or public parks. I would much prefer for them to do what comes naturally in the privacy of their own homes . Is that clear enough ?

I don't know if this is a difference between right and left, but it is a difference between you and me, I don't think respect has too be earnt, I think it is given from the start, and then can be lost very easily, but whenever I meet someone I have respect for them, and treat them with respect, regardless, then I lose respect for people when they give me reason to do so.

For example I meet a muslim, I respect them, if they start spouting off about jews, and muslim superiority and how I am a sinner for drawing a picture of Mohamed/eating pork, then I lose respect for them.

You should treat people as you would want to be treated. That is not left or right view but a humanatarian view. We ar not born Muslim, Catgholic, Jew Christian or whatever. We are labled these by the surroundings and family around us. We are all individuals with the capability to choose. I do not see myself as left or right. If I see a homeless person I do not immediately assume that they are alcoholics or on drugs or it is their fault they are there. There could be many reasons. It takes an open mind and a respect for others before you know the facts.

As I have said I am not religious but I know people of different faiths that work together helping those worse off than themselves. There is a drop in centre run by Muslims in Leicester that do meals for those that are struggling financially. Are they Lefties? I have no idea. I just know that they care about others so deserve my respect regardless of their faith. Are you willing to join in and help out?

A 28-year-old man from Loughborough is due to appear in court today in connection with the theft of Royal British Legion poppy collection boxes.

The collection tins were allegedly stolen from different locations in Loughborough, Ashby and Shepshed between November 6 and 12.

The man has been charged with five counts of theft.

He is due to appear at Hinckley Magistrates Court today.

You can pretty much tell from the title that the thread isn't going to full of people praising each other. Did you see our gay pride parade this year, it was great. We went for a pre match drink in the Rainbow and Dove as we had breakfast in the Last Plantagenate, so close by, some of the boys and girls were in there, great people. Drinks are expensive though.
