Filberts lovechild Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Its all going well now, but there will be a lul at some point in the season. Speaking to a F*rest fan he reckons it gets tough when its the winter and we play teams on a wet tuesday evening away! We've just got to get as many points on the board as possible right now. Very pleased with the start though!!

Very pleased with the start though!! Question fo F*rest fan? Why did it take 3 years for you to get out of Div 3? F*rest Answer = It rains on Tuesday nights & it's proven that big teams don't win when it rains on Tuesday's F*rest fan is just trying to defend 3 ... YES 3 years in this division! LCFC will show how it should be done this year, if it rains on Tuesday's or not

Raj Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Oh Dear Thomas!!! I REALLY hope your comments dont come back to haunt you!!! We should be glad to be winning games again,BUT we are Leicester City FC! NEVER get over excited! Things can take a down turn anytime. Lets make the Walkers a fortress and keep picking up points away from home but we are far from The Mighty LCFC of League One!!!

Well put Raj ... if the team become complacent then we'll get mugged by one of these 'not so financially endowed' Clubs and trust me that will hurt. I also know legend in blue is correct, having witnessed the League 1 for the past seven years the winter months in this league are hard graft. Poor playing surfaces, lack of undersoil heating, often water sodden (just off being logged) and grounds with little wind shadow cover (and it really does get freezing out there!) ... a good squad size, drilled committment and bags are effort (along with a smile from lady luck) is going to be needed to escape the league in one hop ... No slacking ... and No 'Oh we should win 'cos we was once in the Prem' ... !

GloverFox Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Can't see that happening under Pearson. Yep, smack on the money Corky, I just hope you and I are right in thinking Pearson will not allow any slacking off ... Pearson is wise to this level of footy included the dreaded hoofball 'last' ditch game and he is also aware that players will also try to do 'just enough' without busting a gut ... I'd just love to see this group of players going all guns all the way to the finish line ... then we can all PAAARTY!!!!!!
wirralsimon Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 No I am 1st to boo, but 1st to see the poor opposition! They are weak, we may have off days, we may be unlucky, the opposition may be good at set pieces, but Sir Alexi... Cream always rises to the top & after 46 games there is no question in my mind that we are gold top I hope this was tounge in cheek, or it has a scary, scary logic. Exactly the same kind of thinking that assumed we were too good to go down last season. The standard of football is not as high in League 1,in particular in the games I have seen there is much less in the way of 'shape' an adherence to a plan, but that doesn't always translate into the best footballing side winning. Some of the sides we meet this season will be very hard to play gainst and they will have more experience of mixing it in scrappy games on poor quality pitches at this level than we have. It's not an easy division to get out of, as we will doscover over the course of the season. Simon
Tommy G Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 i just hope this topic doesn't come back to haunt us!
Suffolk_fox Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 These 2 are supposed to be "big" teams in this league, God forbid what Northampton & Cheltenham will be like? And how did The Cobblers do against Premiership opposition last night?
hewittinspain Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 Well 3 games in this year, I have seen 2 of these and I must say how deeply disappointed I am with the lack of quality opposition there is so far in this league! MK Dons, & Tranmere have been deeply disappointing in putting up a fight against LCFC who are quality opposition in this league. When Tranmere scored yesterday I felt some surprise as I could not see them scoring in a Nottingham Whore house but they did manage 1 scrambled effort in. Then there was 10 minutes of non stop pressure to come ......... well obviously not, because they were "shit", and Tranmere are 1 of the better sides in this league! MK Dons only mustered 1 lame shot on target and that was because return of the mack Morrisson lost his man. Yesterday I remember 2 shots on target for TRFC and 1 was a goal and 1 was another lame effort to our keeper. MK Dons lack of ability to keep the ball in between the 2 long white lines was enough for me, and Tranmere were slightly better. These 2 are supposed to be "big" teams in this league, God forbid what Northampton & Cheltenham will be like? When it was 2v1 yesterday I really annoyed Ched with my goading for Tranmere to score, but I knew that Lightening was not going to be cheeky enough to strike twice with the awful display that TRFC displayed yesterday. To be honest if they did score 2 at least it may have made things a bit more interesting for me. Needless to say the last 10 minutes were 10 minutes of my life wasted as 3 points were in the bag, they had been counted & deposited with a LCFC complements slip attached to TRFC. LCFC are head & shoulders above the rest, that I have seen inc Leeds, I can't wait to play Oldham Ath soon if they keep their form up. I hope this really annoys the negative fans on here, because if you can not see what I am saying then maybe you are the lucky ones, thinking we have some opposition in the league this year. Bring on Fulham for a bump back to Earth? Kilworth Fox Leeds fan here. For someone who has posted over 4,000 times on this board you know very little about football or should I say League one. Fair play to you to have this positive mental attitude but iam about to bring you back down to reality. This league is an extremely tough league to get out of.Anyone will tell you that including Forest fans. You will soon realise that anyone can beat anyone down here. One week you will beat Carlisle, the next week Crewe will outplay you. It's the way things go unfortunately so your remark of LCFC being head and shoulders above the rest is a very fat overstatement as you will soon find out. There are some good small unit teams that are going to make good contenders this year. Brighton and Carlisle just to name two and even though Leeds haven't made the best start this season, after tuesdays 4-0 battering(and i mean battering) to Crystal Palace who incidentally had 9 of their 11 first team players playing then Leeds have made that kickstart they needed. Thank god Gary McAllister made 8 changes to our team who drew at Yeovil and has now found that correct formula(starting 11) to really get going now in this league. I think your post would've been ideal around December/January time if say you were 10-15 pts ahead of everyone else but not 3 games into the season. At this stage teams are finding their feet and the season hasn't got going yet. Look at Swansea, they won 4 points from their first 4 games last season but still won the league. Leeds won 91 pts and if it hadn't have been for our 15pt deduction we would be playing Championship football again. My advice is wait and see what you make of this league first. It will come as a shock to you. I do not expect Leeds to go up this season, not because we haven't got the quality because I do believe Leicester and Leeds have the best in this league man for man, but like I said before this league has more twists and turns than you can imagine. Sooner rather than later you will find that out for yourself.

To say I know little about football after I have watched it live for 20 of my 25 years is a little condensing for someone who has judged me on the basis of 1 post which will become reality come May 2009. This is not a proficy! This will happen, we are the best team in the league, we will show you before the end of the week if we play like we can. To say that you don't expect Leeds to go up is daft! You should expect Leeds to go up, they are the biggest club in League 1 & bigger than any championship team. Even with their current plight they have an excellent team for this division. If they are not in the playoffs I would be amazed but not disappointed I remember writing this initial post I was right then and I am right now. I don't believe in fate, you create your own success in life & football is the same. The problem with Leeds is that they are not putting the effort in to beat side who see you as a massive scalp to have. I have not watched much of Leeds but this is usually the case 99 times out of 100. Leicester went down because, over the course of the season we did not have the appetite to win matches with more effort, than the opposition, it was not down to lack of ability. The bad news for us is that you players will be backed to the hilt on Boxing day and will be under new management which usually give sides a massive lift. The very bad news for Leeds is that Leicester are now in form, Yes we have been winning but the last 2 games show how mentally & physically we are the best in this division & proving it in crap grounds in the cold & against the better sides at home. Best advice I can give you is to pop down to bet 24 & back Leicester to be champions come May, if your feeling brave put Leeds 2nd

August 27th 2008 - 22 December 2008 I remembered the post and it urked me because I knew I was in the right, but I could not prove it! We don't have proof yet that we will win the league, but we have a very good iead that if we play like we can, no one can stop us! Blue Army Mother ****ers

Koke Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 I know this will annoy people but the rest are fighting for 2nd. Good luck to Oldham hope they beat Leeds to it I could make a really good argument on this but it would just be what I think, we will obviously have to play out the season but there is no question in my mind its going to be 1st for us. I don't even think it is optimism there is such a gulf in class. I love when Kilworth is proven right. I love the lad.
Daggers Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 I love when Kilworth is proven right. I love the lad. Do you realise how insufferable he's going to be now? And do you appreciate who will be standing next to him listening to it? You bastard Kareem!
Koke Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Sorry Daggers - Kilworth is always right. You should know that by now Squad size, having said that Left back is our weak point and we are easily getting by. not that I am splitting hairs but it is 3. Also I will take a bet with anyone that we will not lose 4-0 to anyone this year, however we may lose 4-5 max Cream always rises to the top & after 46 games there is no question in my mind that we are gold top Best advice I can give you is to pop down to bet 24 & back Leicester to be champions come May, if your feeling brave put Leeds 2nd
