Father Ted Posted 25 August 2008 Author Posted 25 August 2008 Online petitions mean nothing.Something is needed on paper. So you bang on about how rubbish goal music is, blah de blah, do something then!
Guest Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 So you bang on about how rubbish goal music is, blah de blah, do something then! 221 votes cast, 69% against. Wouldn't you give up?
The Stig Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 My suspicions are it was discussed "internally" as a good idea, and introduced without any thought to anyone. Now it's there, it's going to be harder to get rid of, as the dissenters will be fewer than those who don't care, or actually do like it. I seem to remember Martin Allen in one of his "manager speaks" blogs saying he'd changed it. Anyone else remeber that?
Guest Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 I seem to remember Martin Allen in one of his "manager speaks" blogs saying he'd changed it. Anyone else remeber that? We were playing the PHG after scoring before Allen came in, I think.
leicesterseddon Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 He is the supporter's liaison officer. He has as much say as you or I do on what goes on at the club. If he appears to defend the idea of goal music, it is because not enough people have complained about it for the club to pull the plug on it. He is merely the messenger informing you of this. he must have more say than that...and if he doesn't, then he should do. the club doesn't need an agony aunt, and if he can't act on his 'liaisons' with the fans, i don't see the point in having a supporters' liaison officer. if what you say is true, then we need to give him a bit more leverage at the club. i agree with the bit about not enough people complaining....although it's hard to define exactly what 'enough' people is i suppose
City Lad Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 3) We assassinate Peter Jones For a minute I thought you meant ...
Kilworthfox Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 For a minute I thought you meant ... Can we ask him what he thinks of the music after LCFC goals anyway? just a thought!

Whatever happens, you will get some fans liking it and others not liking it. I wouldn't like his job. As much as I don't like goal music, a poll of 221 giving 69% against isn't enough for me to confidently say the fans don't like it, and when the powers that be see the fans jumping up and down, are they really going to make the connection it's the goal that is doing that and not the music? How do any of us know that for everyone of us that is telling him it's cack, there isn't someone writing to say how much they enjoy "Chelsea Dagger"? And why should a liaison officer have a say? He's there to bridge the gap between us and the powers that be. I have always found him helpful wherever it has been possible, and apologetic when it hasn't. This is his job.

This is his job. well if the big-wigs at the club are going to have the option of systematically ignoring his recommendations, then he really is in a no-win situation. if he's not responsible for making the decisions about this sort of thing, then i'd agree that he shouldn't be blamed for the continuation of chelsea dagger in any case the topic of 'goal music' is not really one for the boardroom, so someone other than peter jones started playing it and has continued it ever since. does anyone actually know how it started?...i certainly don't.

The Stig Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 We were playing the PHG after scoring before Allen came in, I think. Yes I know. And if my memory serves me right from the Allen era onwards C.D was played, he changed it.
Ultra Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Yes I know. And if my memory serves me right from the Allen era onwards C.D was played, he changed it. Correct - he brought it with him from the franchise. It might just be useful to mention this in emails to Peter Jones as this might be the only hope we have of being able to move on.
lcfc_jme Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 So you bang on about how rubbish goal music is, blah de blah, do something then! It's not like people haven't ****ing tried. I know I have, on a few occasions. I've even discussed it in meetings with the club (which Ched also attended), so your comment is just stupid, really. The club will discuss it, but the music will not be taken away or stopped until nobody celebrates goals, and as we all know, that will never happen. Nor will it happen whilst we as a club are trying to enforce ground regulations to the letter and encouraging an increasing family atmosphere. It's not a dig at Peter Jones, because there's little he can do really, just listen to people. It's more a dig at the club in general, because Chelsea Dagger, and goal music in general, is piss poor and unbelievably embarrassing.
leicesterseddon Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Martin Allen asked for it. so obviously someone let him have it...he can't be in the dug-out and pressing a button upstairs at the same time. and he's gone now, and anyway we were playing goal music before he came - the remixed PHG i beleive. someone else took a decision (without consulting the fans) to start playinggoal music.
Corky Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 If Allen had gone before the Watford match last season, or we hadn't scored in that game, do you reckon they would have played it after he left? They saw the fans dancing to it and enjoying it at the Watford match so the club kept it on. The best solution would be a trial for a few matches without goal music and see what the crowd do. If it was taken away I don't think the crowd would miss it. A lot dance along for the sake of it.
Daggers Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Hmmm...42 people against vs. 19,958 people dancing for I wonder what the outcome will be?
Corky Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Hmmm...42 people against vs. 19,958 people dancing forI wonder what the outcome will be? According to the OS that is the "Blue Army out in force" so we may have a chance
Daggers Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 According to the OS that is the "Blue Army out in force" so we may have a chance
Jimmy Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 would probably be more effective to protest against it when Milan is arriving at the ground before the game
Corky Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 would probably be more effective to protest against it when Milan is arriving at the ground before the game The PA tosser should have played it over his half-time speech so he'd hate it and request it to be removed
Hullfox Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 The PA tosser should have played it over his half-time speech so he'd hate it and request it to be removed Best start another poll that 200 people can vote in to ascertain whether people think he's a tosser then. I'm getting to the stage where I hope that we don't score at home anymore. I want PA announcing banned too. And while we're at it let's do away with the Birch's run and all that charity shit. As for the rememberance parade, get rid. This club is a fooking joke, an embarrassment. It's just a good job that we've got the best supporters in the country, we'd be nothing otherwise.
Simi Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 So you bang on about how rubbish goal music is, blah de blah, do something then! Have a ****ing laugh will you. I've been to three meetings abouty it with Peter Jones and other members of this forum. Sat there for hours upon hours fighting to get rid of it. I've sent countless e-mails to Peter Jones and spoke to Marketing Managers and other people about getting rid of it. I'm attempting to get a seat at the next meeting as well to talk about, so take a ****ing day off will you and do something yourself and stop thinking that setting up an online petition on your arse is going to change something. Think about it before you make an absolute moronic comment like that.
Guest Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Yes I know. And if my memory serves me right from the Allen era onwards C.D was played, he changed it. The point I was trying to make was that goal music wasn't brought in by MA2, all he did was change it.
ozleicester Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 maybe a few renditions of you can shove your chelsea dagger up yer ar5e after every goal might help get the message over and judge the general census!!whose going to start it first? I would love to hear this on the next match commentary
