I'm not too fussed.

I don't see what's wrong with celebrating a goal with a dance? Personally I enjoy it.

Plus, with crowds getting smaller we need all the help we can get for a bit of noise.

I don't feel that strongly about the subject, though. I just don't mind it myself.

I think that despite the poll on here, most people who go aren't that bothered about it. It divides opinion I know but it certainly is one of the few occasions where thousands are singing the same thing at the same time.

If it's that bad then rather than an opinion poll online, why not get people to not join in if they really want it consigned to history?

Whether it's a good thing or not and whatever it says about modern football crowds the fact is the people who are against the music are most likely in a minority. Online petitions won't change anything. You need to convince the people who are in favour of it that the atmosphere in the ground would benefit from its removal.

I had a look around the ground after the first and second goals on Saturday and at least half the fans weren't dancing. When away fans are taking the piss out of you celebrating a goal, you realise how retarded it all looks.

Dancing is for nightclubs and crap family discos, stand up and cheer, jump up & down on your seat, hug the granny next to you if you want but dancing to Chelsea Dagger.... >_<

Is there goal music at Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle, West Ham etc...? The answer is no.

There is music however at clubs like Bolton, Middlesbrough etc... Yes they are in the premiership, but have terrible, terrible vocal support from their fans, we can produce an atmosphere when we want, especially when we are winning.

Having music is just embarrassing. I hope that if we did ever get back to the Premiership, we would no longer have goal music so that the rest of the country can have less reason to laugh at us.

Get rid of the crappy music! :frusty:

I was watchint MOTD last night, and I can't remember which team it was, but the home team scored and the noise was fantastic, for me one of the best sounds in the world. We can't hear that sound, because the bloody Frattelli's are playing over it.

I mean that any Tom, Dick or Harry can sign it, they could have nothing to do with the club.

yes they were...which is why the bloody thing will never get removed. the whole idea of goal music is absurd, and i'm sorry to say it, but until people stop dancing to it, it will continue to be played. it's only too easy for people at the club to point to the dancing fans as a reason to keep it going. even on this forum, enough people like it to keep it going. the thing is, it's been going on for so long that people can't remember anyhting other than jumping up and down like robots and then sitting down immediatly afterwards. only three things will ever remove goal music:

1) All our fans simultaneously realise that the whole thing is americanised garbage (PS never going to happen)

2) A small vanguard of hardcore opponents to goal music hijack the 'don't mind' majority and convince the club to drop it

3) We assassinate Peter Jones :ph34r:

thought he was the one with his finger on the button... i must be wrong then. so who makes the decision to press 'play' when we score?

in any case, he has consintently defended the idea of goal music in the e-mail replies i've seen on this forum. and if we assume he has the power to stop the thing (and to be fair i don't know if he has), then he didn't throw water on the whole idea last season when it started.

He is the supporter's liaison officer. He has as much say as you or I do on what goes on at the club. If he appears to defend the idea of goal music, it is because not enough people have complained about it for the club to pull the plug on it. He is merely the messenger informing you of this.

There may be insufficient numbers clamouring for it's demise but I didn't notice the club being bombarded with requests to introduce it.

It's just symptomatic of the lip service payed to fans.

My suspicions are it was discussed "internally" as a good idea, and introduced without any thought to anyone. Now it's there, it's going to be harder to get rid of, as the dissenters will be fewer than those who don't care, or actually do like it.
