From the start of the term time I will be running a " Spelling Punctuation And Grammar" Class.

Different over here:

Kindergarten from between 4 to 6 years

Primary School from 5 to 6 years onwards

Secondary School starting at 12 or 13

County School starting at 14 or 15

Uni starting at 18 or 19 (the earliest)

I used to go to County School until 19 1/2 (when it was still a five-year system) and went to Uni at 20.

So I don't know how you'd call that County School in England - since it covers both high school and college.

In hindsight, I must say I've done a lot of school-ing... lol

Parts of Leicestershire are a bit different though. We have high schools that are for kids 11-14 and then you have to move to a new school for at least two years to do your GCSEs. That's what it's like where I live.

This is the first year since I was about 5 that I haven't had to go back for the start of a 'school' year and it feels a bit strange.

Bedfords the weirdest of all!

We have lower schools upto 9 years.

Then middle schools from 9-13.

Then upper school 13-16.

Followed by sixth form (most places apart from my school  at local college) 16-18/19.

My county is so retarded :giggle: !

Hmm, but not for long, I bet. It's one of the remaining counties with this '3-tier' system. Norfolk have changed to a fully '2-tier' system in the last year and Suffolk are to follow soon. Can't see Beds staying as it is, to be honest. :/

 I thought it was strange here! I wonder what makes people think up these different ways? Not sure which is the best way but I'm glad I wasn't an 11/12 year old in a school with 16 year olds like it is in some places. I can imagine that gets messy at times.

Was that in England?! That's crazy. I don't know whether interaction between older and younger kids helps or not. All I know is that during the last two years in post-16 I've had hardly any contact with the 14-16 year olds that attend the same college. I don't think the younger ones looked up to us in any way because we were out of sight and were never encouraged to mingle with them at any point.

Yeah, it was in England - and, I agree, crazy system. Didn't work, in my opinion.

Believe it or not most people want it to stay 3-tier here. My mum is a teacher and she thinks that the county as awhole would take around a decade to recover.

Though as a county our results aren't great (might be something to do with the thick chavs who populate the place :giggle: ).
